Spare wheel size??
You could buy a like for like wheel in steel or alloy and have a matching tyre size and it will fit in the spare tyre well, but the floot might be up a bit, or get the Temporary Spare you need, which is often discussed. You decide. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/451389-spare-wheel-conundrum http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/482789-spare-wheel http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/469360-spare-wheel-size http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/497568-spare-wheel-jack-polystyrene-tray

Interior condensation
@h2o trapped in the doors sometimes if the passenger door is not opened to let it out, or the car parked on a slope. There are many cars that have people in them and breathing and no condensation issues even if someone puts on the air intake to recycle for a little while. When the ambient temp is warm enough and the weather dry that damp (water) really needs dried out. Then the source of it getting in the car sorted out if it is not just from clothes, footwear, animals or the lungs of a human. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509984-condensation

Glow plug system light, failed fuel injector and no confidence in my 2010 Octavia
@Malcolm-LockNo sticker means nothing. Some dealerships did the fix without having permission to. Does the VIN come up showing outstanding or not required whicj might well mean already done? Engine Management Software & flow device fitted. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
@DriveucrazyWho's website, Skoda UK. From what date, or is it a dealerships version of it? Maybe post the link to it. http://skoda.co.uk/owners/servicing-maintenance-fixed-price

@DriveucrazySomeone on a Service Desk or on the phone may not know about National Pricing on Servicing and Maintenance and the T&C's & are going by what it used to be on 3-10 year old cars and Fixed Servicing, @ participating dealers etc. As to Cam Belt, Water Pump and other jobs it is 'Price on application' now and they might well quote wrong on that as well. Some were clueless back in 2019, then it was all change in 2020 with Skoda UK and still they were all over the place with servicing and maintenance and prices. So it changed from Minor or Interim and Major, and paying a price that was fixed even if parts were not supplied & fitted. There are places that do a proper job for the money charged. Just a pity they can not all do that. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/477630-major-service-costs

Knocking when turning at low speed
Best get it to a mechanic that can check it on a ramp, road test it and diagnose the issue.

If there was one thing I would change about my Kamiq…
@DazmorgUKWas that the discs and pads genuinely worn from use or ruined through corrosion and requiring replacement or was that some dealerships advice they needed replacing and you went with that advice? Odd with a manual parking brake as on many VW group smaller models and not an e-brake. Or did they get done under the Warranty eve though they said not covered as 'wear and tear' items?

They had to go with a cunning stunt. Electrification. So with a 1.0 TSI had mild hybrid and that also reduces any DQ200 possible issues as well, and do that with a 1.5 TSI as well, and then go with a PHEV with a 1.4 TSI to again help lower average emissions from the Fleet. But the PHEV's need to be on Fixed Service regimes for Oil & Filter changes, and obviously the same guidelines for timing belt replacements. Among the newest cars there are now recommendations or guidelines for brake fluid changes first at 2 years again, and the same has happened with VAQ diffs now being at 2 years when they were @ 3 years / 30,000 miles. Lots more possible work for going into Dealership workshops while less new cars are being delivered but waiting to get a slot with them takes longer.

@DazmorgUK what are the rear discs failing to do or doing shockingly?

Engine Cover Dealer Delete
Blame Covid and a war in the Ukraine and now a Earth Quake in Turkey & Syria. You can not expect VW Group to shell out millions or billions because some pointless engine cover they designed and had manufactured and fit has a dodgy way of attachment that has never killed anyone yet even if it did burn out some engine deparment. Overblown on the internet. Time to move on as nothing to see here, no more Das Auto, just honesty.

@varooom or maybe someone else will link the procedure. @NottsIan Do you think those @ Main Dealerships taking over 6 hours labour are including their lunch break, time on the phone / net, chatting to people etc?
-
Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
Higher costs to the customer due to the labour time because it is an ACT, but that is more than if a 1.4 TSI ACT. They are just saying the same with their advice, recommendations or schedules as they do in the UK for many other engines with timing belts regardless of the CC / bhp / Nm torque be those petrol, diesel, mild hybrid or PHEV. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/458348-timing-belt/page/3 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510433-timing-belt

ECU light?
@Phoenixboy Paints is my specialist subject as i was a car sprayer, time served, then did commercial spraying (oil & gas equipment) and then back to vehicles.

Re the EV's. Well there are ones well over 10 years old, so we know how that is going, as with Mild & PHEV's. But VW were late to the party because they invested in Diesels and were going Diesel Hybrids, but were caught cheating so that new Audi factories in Hungary and in South America to build Diesel Hybrids had to change to build new stuff. Vorsprung Durch Technik, Do not put all your eggs in one basket if your sourcing dodgy handles for the basket. Or Stefan Jacoby is your CEO in North America. Choose your bosses, be part of the VW family, a future boss, then to Mitsubishi, back to VW, huff off to Geely / Volvo, then to GM. Then work for yourself for others. Jack of all trades, master of non and never held to book for what VW did, deaf, blind and dumb. The technology was known, but then they had to cheat and were caught. Spending more on marketing & lawyers than on R&D is not Simply Clever. Vid 2. Stay humble when you are perfect in every way. Or do not believe your own spin.

Honest John was good IMO, they did get some stuff totally wrong though, & they went bust which says something, not sure what about a job for life / lifetime. So HonestJohn.co.uk bought and owned by HeyCar, owned by VW & Daimler Benz. They might have some working for them with a bit of knowledge of VW's. The thing about Factory testing or their contractors is that they rack up the miles / km in concentrated amount of time and it might be running cars / engines day and night and with stops, cool downs and restarts. Like taking a Hillman Imp around the world. No use if you just want to live and work In Glasgow and go back and fore to your job in a car factory 7 miles away and not have a car that overheats and warps the head. Times have changed, things move on, now there is the WLTP so the software / engine management suits the test, tuff titty if the car kangeroos on a cold morning. Sort that once we get enough sold and paid for. Like with the Software for the driver, SOS, Battery regen etc.

1.6tdi swap to 2L
If the 1.6 TDI needs the timing belt and water pump replaced and the clutch then that is just the same as you would need to do with any donor engine you were to buy.

My prediction is based on having heard the voice of Doris Stokes in my head & that is that a GPF will need replace before a timing belt fails. But only time will tell how good my premonitions are.

Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
Lori is doing a great job for Arnold Clark. I assume they are an actual person and it is not just them using ChatGPT / AI. I will not bother calling them as i wait for the call from them having done an online form and a call in person to Customer Services Glasgow yesterday.

Once they know more about 1.5 TSI ACT's at 6 or 7 years old that maybe do 5,000 miles a year or 25,000 miles a year in dust free countries they can revise their advice. @ the moment they just go by what Derren Brown tells them. They have a habit of using paying customers as their R&D. Lifetime is until it dies. The Timing Belts might outlive all of us, maybe not the engines though.

ECU light?
@Phoenixboy so now we are @ 2023. Many of those Vauxhall Dealerships are gone. Sadly my local one has and now i have to go to Arnold Clark as the servicing of a Motability Car needs to be with them. Which New Stellantis 1.2 Turbo engine is this you are talking about, from which year? I do read about issues. http://astrakforums.co.uk/threads/astra-k-1-2t-110-engine-issues.8008 They will look good on the back of a flatbed at least.

Mk3 Climate control Issues
It is trying to achieve the requested temp in the car not at the vents. What is the ambient temp when you want the interior at above 20*oC. What engine does your car have? When was it built and how many miles has it done?
-
21 plate Octavia PHEV - "engine needs to run for longer" error
So what has been getting done by the dealership so far? Your car might well be one needing a 12volt battery replaced if not already done, or software updates carried out. The others that have been living with the PHEV,s will be along.
-
ECU light?
An exhaust emissions light. Engine Shape symbol is different from a EPC light / symbol which reads EPC when it shows. Some issues have one or the other show, some might have both on. But likely the car then goes into limp mode. Ps. The winter spec E5 and E10 is delivered to UK filling station til the end of March and longer if the importers bought up lots from around Europe and globally after it stopped being produced and have it in storage on land or at sea in bulk tankers. PPS. Vauxhall / Opal is no longer PSA group but Stallantis so the 5th biggest manufacturing group in the world. Which means nothing really as far as reliability. They are not as deaf, dumb or blind as the VW Group management though. Biggest vehicle manufacturing group in the world again overtaking Toyota. Says nothing about dealing with snagging faults, even with EV,s including Porsche. New Skoda CEO came from Porsche. What did he do wrong,? How long will he last? About the same or less time that a 1.5 TSI ACT timing belt supposedly needs replaced.

1.6tdi swap to 2L
@thymaw88 Welcome to the forum. Are you intending doing the swap or have others do it, and are they to source a suitable engine? over 31,000 miles a year on your car is quite impressive. Is the engine now expiring?

New price cap Oct 2022
BP might have almost non of the operations in the UK, but then that is how you think of as 'non'. Small fry to some. As to Royal Dutch Shell, Shell UK ltd etc. They do like flogging of stuff and getting tax breaks in the UK, but then that is how George Osborne set things up with his advice from Sir Ian Wood who knows how to screw over the workers to benefit the companies.
