  1. @JR RS Yes the Autocar article is about the new models & a reveal in 2023. My point is the thread title, and being clear this is the reveal of MY2024 models which might be manufactured later in 2023 and might even get to customers my the end of 2023 if order books open , or maybe not. Haymarket Media Group, owners of Autocar, What Car, Pistonhead, who do launches and events for the VW Group, and as useful to the VW group as Heycar & Honest John. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haymarket_Media_Group
  2. If others in the dealership were not aware of that the Master Tech and technicians should be.
  3. No idea what that is on the video though, sorry.
  4. A DQ200, no servicing.
  5. ? Has the car had the water pump replaced and both the belts? When did it get a new battery? What else has the car had done and why did the timing chain get changed?
  6. You can buy a longer warranty if the car is under 100,000 miles. No idea what your DSG is unless you say what your Karoq is, FWD or AWD.
  7. An extended Warranty with a 1.5 TSI ACT would be simply clever as the engines are really not tried and tested, and especially if they have a DSG be that a DQ200 or a DQ381. So Serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines or Schedules. With those with Haldex and a DQ381 that will be the Haldex & 3 years/ 30,000 miles. With a keeper and a DQ381 people might leave the Oil change to 80,000 miles with a warranty but again that might not be the best of plans.
  8. Apples and pears again. TDI's are a different kettle of fish oil. Plenty of those about then still so have VW changed the recommendations? & and then a members 1.6TDI was wrecked. But then stuff happens. Just one unlucky. Not the belt, and not at 5 years. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/502505-engine-failure http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/502054-i-am-the-1-in-5
  9. Saving £100 at the time is not as expensive as having to do the job again. Since you posted in the past with issues was the car ever running well?
  10. Called an Extreme Adventure Sport in a Euro 5 1.8 / 2.0 TSI with an OE timing chain and tensioner.
  11. Maybe ask @Crasherif there are ever Cambelt failure engines that come in to dealerships or ones that were caught in time. There will be cars that get Cam belts replacements and the dealership staff will not be shooing them away and saying save your money. There will be cars that do not get main dealer servicing and maintenance that have not had cam belts changed and if they fail are not likely to be getting taken to a main dealership to be rebuilt.
  12. Swarf, casting sand are things of the past. The cylinders are honed, their is nothing in the bottom of a sump or on a sump plug for years gone now. There were about a decade ago Dealerships that did do a 1,000 mile check of the cars, and ones that offered a discounted oil change. Now there are demonstrators / courtesy cars that do not get the oil dipped after a PDI or without a Low Oil light coming on and will be getting sold as Management Cars without a dip of the oil or a top up, and almost certainly not with an oil and filter change. Some of these were built months ago and sat waiting on parts before sitting weeks before ever getting to a dealership. Some might of had the fluids in the car near 12 months before.
  13. See post by @Neil26111on 15th May 2021 Then the posts that follow. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/492965-fabia-vrs-issues
  14. I would ask him a question if i could. When he brimmed it did he actually 'Vent the tank' and get as much as an extra 7 litres in, then when he rolled into the filling station with 0 range and brimmed it again was it just 66 litres that went in?
  15. They put in good oil at the factory for a new car which is on variable servicing so 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months before a oil and filter change. Or even 9,400 (10,000) on Fixed servicing. Let the engine run in on that oil, at least for 5,000 miles IMO. Use that oil to do the job. Or just change at 9,400 miles for an interim oil change or if that is your annual mileage. ? How was the Oil level checked cold when new and at operating temp, and at checks since and have you needed to top up the oil? Is the coolant level steady since you got the car, or did that drop a bit?
  16. 6 seats are great, tow a trailer to carry luggage. Hang your suits, or just wear all your spare clothes on top. Then heated seats not needed. Left hand drive car and right handed person and the screen is fantastic. RHD and right handed maybe not so.
  17. Welcome to the forum. Hopefully just something lose. What servicing has been done? Have the spark plugs been replaced even though the car has only done 30,000 miles but is by recommendations by Skoda @ 4 years. Same with the Cam belt, at 5 years by the manufacturers recommendations.
  18. 1.4 TSI ACT,s were introduced in 12 years ago so great if there have been no timing belt or tensioner issues with those on the original, the 1.5 TSI might be the same. As to those getting work done on them and done wrongly, that is another story. http://seatcupra.net/forums/threads/1-4-tsi-act-cambelt-nightmare.462431
  19. So this is about revealing 2024 models as current being delivered are MY2023. @ the Brussles Motor Show 2023, just a few weeks ago. A 2023 model.
  20. A good time to check the strength of the Antifreeze if the car still has the original in.
  21. What size tank has a 1.6TDI have? ? Did the writer say what the capacity of the fuel tank was in the 2.0 TDI car they had? Or if buying and using standard Diesel or was it Premium Diesel in continental Europe? (maybe they are the same cetane rating, i do not know) 66 litre. Then a TDI with Adblue. 66 litres is almost 14.5 imperial gallons. 1113 divided by 14.5 is 76.75. that is MPG. (But you are not going to run a tank to empty.) Getting 70 mpg from every gallon is amazing if not just doing a non stop trip, but one with with cold starts, town driving etc and as loaded car. This is a Briskoda member. Maybe subscribe.
  22. A car from Motability was pretty stress free for lots of people. Sign over about £63 a week (going to £71) and get a new car every 3 years . No VED, no insurance or servicing or repairs to pay, no MOT's, & nothing other than a £75 excess with an insurance claim and fuel, you even get money back if returned in a good condition. Then EV's were available and they even installed a home charger. Now with public charging costing as much or more than some of the more economic cars on offer with nil or no advance payment the EV's might not make much sense. Then as much as there is talk of accessible public chargers for those with disabilities it is fiction. So there are more limit choices of affordable EV's from Motability and the low or nil advance payments ones have smaller batteries so less range which really means charging required more often. Personally after this car goes back i will opt out of having an EV for a year or 3. I will probably extend the lease as i paid a high advance payment and i can still charge it cheap locally if i need to and for a reasonable cost away from home. The issue that causes the bl00d pressure to rise is the ignorance of many that like to just take their car to free or less than the home tariff for charging and leave their car until they decide to collect it again. I am tight and greedy, but while playing the game i am with the car while charging on Rapids and ready to stop charging and lets others do so. The if still need more of a charge use a slow chargers to get the last 10 or even 20% of a charge if a full battery is required.
