Next-Gen Skoda Kodiaq Spied In Production Body
Still almost 7 years until 2030 and Skoda UK have to have something to sell to people as there is still only one model of EV available, and in limited numbers. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509835-skoda-superb-2023-model

2yr review..!
DQ381 the 7 Speed Wet Clutch DSG used for FWD or AWD with engines more than 250 Nm unless a PHEV, and that have a 80,000 mile service interval. Skoda is 'simply clever' they manage to carry some faults on from one generation of model to the next and even introduce new issues, most recently Software ones. Vorprung Durch Technik, No matter people have short memories, if they get a crap one they move on or say, they all can have issues. Better the Devil you know right enough. Forums and Social media are catching out the manufacturers that say issues are overblown on forums and social media. Vorsprung Durch Technik. VW Group never learn about technology.

2yr review..!
The Mk1 Fabia vRS, or just the Original Fabia vRS was followed by the Mk2 Fabia vRS of which in the UK more than 25% of engines failed, even replacement engines have failed. I love them, but you can buy them for less than a good Mk1 Fabia vRS sells for. Then there is the Mk1 Fabia issues with water getting into the interior which Skoda fail to address model after model that they introduce. There is the DQ200 DSG issues that required a World Wide Recall which excluded europe, then a Service campaign for Europe, then a 2nd one, then issues with newer ones requiring TPI,s, software updates, and clutch updates, then some more issues. Hopefully resolved since 2018 / 19, but time will tell. Now it is DQ381's that owners need to be sure that they extend a warranty to have covered. Just snagging issues. Give them 2 decades and they might resolve them.

My Yeti, My Dilemma
@cado what about how your Yeti will be used makes you think Long Life oil is right? Why would you change oil and not spend around about £10 & change the oil filter?

Has my engine just died?
Tell us the story then please. It could have been anything that made the noise so someone that is a mechanic needs to check what is wrong. How many miles has the car done? When was that last oil and filter change done? That oil looks horrible IMO. A pity you topped that up. When were the spark plugs changed last? What else is there about the car, how long have you had it?

Has my engine just died?
Reading your other thread i just posted in about oil and filter you really need to say more or people would be guessing. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510112-change-oil-warning-and-interval

Change oil warning and interval
@adburns I see the thread you have started today. Did you change the oil and filter. Is the filter on OK, not overtightened? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510909-has-my-engine-just-died

EPC and other faults suddenly happening
@JohnGarth Hopefully just the battery. I see it has had the cam belt changed and the water pump. (Not sure i would have changed that.) ? Have the spark plugs been replaced when the car has been fully serviced, and has it got a clean air filter fitted? I would fill the tank with E5 rather than E10 and use that for a few tanks until after March even if you do get a new battery fitted.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
@bigmegWhich of Scotland Dealership groups is getting it for you, and was that a car they already had order so with a build week?

Lack of performance
I cant scroll through the whole thread right now, but even though there is no Flow Device in the Air Intake from 'The fix' being done does the VIN Checker shows as not part of the Recall which might mean done, or outstanding for the 'Voluntary recall'. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions

Lack of performance
@BisonI drive that route often in my Petrol, diesel or EV. On the A77 Girvan is a PITA and the Average Speed Cameras are pretty good for fuel consumption and i know exactly what MPG i get Girvan to Glasgow using different routes. Since Maybole has been by-passed my favoured route is no longer turning along to Maidens and passed Culzean and to Maybole. When there are roadworks i do go that way to get to the by-pass though. In an Electric car there is quite a difference to Ayr going that way, or by the coast road passing Dunure. Then when at Harthill into Edinburgh in an EV you can really see how much the difference is heading towards the sea. I am used to hypermiling when i am skint and needs to make fuel last, but driving an EV really makes you aware of the difference in going east or west and north or south in Scotland and how much fuel it takes one way or another. In an EV to make sure i can get at least a 120 miles before really needing to find a charger it is quite good getting behind a McBurney HGV on the A77 and stick with it at a safe distance or a MegaBus or some other coach on the motorways / dual carriageways.

Lack of performance
@Bison I know the efficiency or fuel consumption or range of everything i ever drive by the time i have filled the tank twice because that is my interest and also i pay for the fuel or now electricity. I have done since i was 16 and had to get about on mopeds. I know which routes use less fuel or take less effort from having cycled many of them as well. The new VW Models & other manufacturers have GPS, have 'coasting' function and can see what is coming and lift off the accelerator before a bend, a down or up slope. There is ACC and lane keep assist and much more going on. As i said, i can drive the routes at the same speeds / time and use less fuel than with Cruise Control on and that applies now just as much driving an EV. This is about real cars on real roads in real weather, nothing to do with Rolling Roads and manufacturers and kidology that got us to the World Wide Harmonised Testing / WLTP which is not Real World or even Whole World it is kidology. '21 plate Golf in picture'. I was driving this Golf 2.0 TDI SCR 115ps 7 Speed DSG for 6 days last year and getting well over 60 miles per gallon was easy at motorway speed and i did over 70 mpg for a couple of tank fills and that was with me driving the car and using the gear shifter / paddles and driving in Sport and lifting off and coasting. The car in Cruise control just kept to sometimes scary speeds into corners if CC was on. The Hybrids moved stuff on, but the latest VW Diesels have the likes of an Octavia or Superb getting amazing economy. The indicated MPG was the drive home from collecting the car and i got to know what it was like on back country roads i drive every day then i filled up and tried to see what economy i could get, Forfar - Aberdeen airport, to Edinburgh airport or Glasgow airport and to Ayr & Turnberry while i had the car and it was amazing and this is lots of average speed camera routes. Using Cruise Control used more fuel. That is real world in a fuel sipper. No physical buttons was a PITA, almost impossible to find the touch areas in the dark, and like as slug in D moving off from 1st to 2nd where the power dies so needs put in S to get away from junctions. The Stop / Start was perfect as was lane keep assist.

Cobra exhaust for mk2 vrs
Ask the place that sells them. @Ant-Vrshad a Cobra fitted but has not signed in for a long time. http://cobrasport.com/collections/skoda-fabia-exhaust http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/376216-fabia-vrs-exhaust http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/418477-cobra-sport-cat-back-exhaust-system http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/435624-mk2-fabia-vrs-exhaust http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/425186-exhaust-for-fabia-vrs-tsi

My Yeti, My Dilemma
Just a warning. With Hydraulic Chain Tensioners do not leave the oil to drain for a long time. Drain the oil, get the new oil in.

My Yeti, My Dilemma
Use long life oil if you want it is for Fixed or Variable servicing, but personally i do not like it for a TSI. I am not suggesting non Long Life to save money as the price difference is near nothing if there is any difference. I like 5 w 40 FS for a TSI. You need to do fixed service intervals anyway if doing almost no miles and short cold start trips. http://volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-drivers/servicing/service-plans/service-schedules.html Are the spark plugs changed or getting replaced? Or at least inspected.
-
My Yeti, My Dilemma
@cadoI like good oil, the correct oil, but for a 1.2 TSI the good oil can be in a ASDA, TESCO, COMMA container or a Fuchs / Quantum or any other as long as to VW502 00 / 5 w 40 Full Synthetic. As to VW recommendation and Castrol. VW never did to well with many Euro 4 or Euro 5 engines and their longevity with Long Life Castrol,. Funnily the Japanese, South Koreans, and French manufacturers recommended other oil producers than the German manufacturers.

1.0 tsi - cold start juddering
Skoda Uk's recommendation / guidelines for the Cam Belt change is at 5 years. Not difficult, just needs the locking tool. Personallyif the 1.0 TSI was playing up and i use E10 95 Unleaded i would put in a tank of E5 97 or 99 min and see if it feels any better if it is serviced properly, good plugs in still at the right gap and a clean air filter is fitted.

1.0 tsi - cold start juddering
Has the servicing included the 3 spark plugs changed @40,000 miles or since?

My Yeti, My Dilemma
109 bhp/ 110 ps / 81 kW 113 bhp/115 ps/ 84.6 kW With a Keeper of a 1.2 TSI even from 2015 of what ever power i would keep doing fixed service oil and filter changes, high or low annual mileage and not use Long Life oil. So not 5w 30 FS III, or 0w 30 FS III & not 0w 20 FS IV. I would use to VW 502 00. Not long life oil, but a longer living TSI. *Just in my opinion.* When the engines / emissions changed to Euro 6 the TSI's, 1.2, 1.4, 1.8, 2.0 TSI's stayed the same. (Some published stuff shows VW changed in 2015 to the new oil) Fixed or Flexible service regimes, VW 504 00 / 507 00. That is 5w 30 FS III (Long Life). The Fixed is VW 502 00 if you want. 5w 40 FS usually. That stayed the same until the WLTP was coming in and VW needed lower emissions during testing. VW508 00 / 509 00 So they started using 0w 20 FS IV (Long Life) and never mention anything other than for Variable Servicing. & not backward compatible. So that is really for the 1.0, 1.4 / 1.5 or 1.8, 2.0 TSI's that have a GPF. But then Dealerships were often not servicing and using that in 2018 on and neither were owners when they became aware of the price.

Daytime Running Lights with rear lights
- IS it worth replacing gearbox on 2009 Fabia of 124,000 miles?
Welcome. If you want to keep the car and not buy another one. How much would you have to spend to buy another car and them maybe still have to spend on repairs. You know the car you have.- My Yeti, My Dilemma
- Daytime Running Lights with rear lights
Those 'brighter than just as sidelights' DRL's are Daytime / Daylight Running lights for road users pedestrians to see a vehicle coming towards them Daytime, even in the sunshine. So location location location the length of the UK in winter and maybe daytime / daylight in Winter. Maybe Sidelights front and rear are enough if the visibility is not poor enough for Dipped Headlights and the rear side /position lights to be on. No need for the very bright DRL's that many have on yet no rear lights. I liked my Volvo's Dim Dip headlights. Loathed the Fabia Mk2 vRS DRL / Sidelight units that many including Police officers thought were Fog Lights as that was their positioning and Skoda never offered them with front Fog Lights yet websites showed they had them and salespeople would argue they had. MOT testers still fail Mk2 Fabia vRS for no 'Sidelight / Position' lights. - IS it worth replacing gearbox on 2009 Fabia of 124,000 miles?
