EV Charging - Does an EV charger know the identity of the vehicle that is being charged?
I have had 3 x 15 mins @ Tesco this morning, then maybe the same later today. How much is Aldi? I am not using the Lidl Podpoint (40 pence) unless stuck getting charged at Edinburgh Airport & 35 pence a kWh on 50kW charger.

That must be cheaper in some areas then. Tesco PodPoint is 28 pence a kWh on a 7 kWh charger other than the 15 minutes free. 50 pence a kWh on a 50 DC or 40 pence on a 22 AC.

My third Yeti!
Comfort or an apparent softer ride might be what many want and not fitting XL tyres for higher loads. There can be an advantage though which is the stronger / reinforced sidewalls that might just reduce the chance of sidewall damage on bad roads that you are after a softer ride across. So location location location might apply. As to the compound difference of All Season / All Weathers / Cross Climate tyre tyres. Different compounds, but also more tread depth when new, 7,8 maybe 9 mm. That does not mean the sidewall compound is softer / more compliant. You can have Summer Tyres in the same profiles that are for Sportycars /drivers, supposedly, or wet weather and as all cars including SUV's or Cross over vehicles come OE from VW Group, ECO tyres, as in less rolling resistant, or actually less grip / friction / traction. As with tyres at an Eco pressure.

@wyx087 Out of service ones are not showing out of order on ZapMap & PlugShare and the Charge Place Scotland app. Weeks and months out of order in locations. I can give you plenty examples of ones around Scotland and even PodPoint ones that show available while out of Service, Not all chargers are giving live data / connections to maps / apps and many are showing Out of service while working because someone reported and issue at sometime and even when used many times since shows out of service. There are ones clearly not working and you can be at them and they show available, maybe out of service, maybe occupied, maybe just someone sitting locked in and charging finished and no way can the charger be used til they come back, however long that might be.

Stop start
Stopped for a while in traffic and into N with the Parking Brake applied does the job without going through reverse and flashing the reversing light and then into P and having the front wheels locked as well, then back through R & N to D.

Domestic charging points - A new social dividing line?
ICE drivers are kind of par for the course but it really is drivers of EV's that take the biscuit for dumbness.

Newbie Here
Welcome. Important stuff as far as servicing and before collection of not up to date is the DSG oil changes are at 40,000 miles and the Hadex / 4x4 is at 3 years / 30,000 miles so you want to see a record of that been done.

Help with a rear cycle carrier for an estate
You need to have the rack set with as much weight supported on the bumper and the roof and the clamps to the glass are for sideways movement, then you need helicopter tape on the glass. The bikes are then too high really IME.
-
Defective parking Aid.
You need first to be looking at them and seeing what crud or corrosion there is behind the bumper, if that means the bumper coming off then maybe best wait for better weather.

Seatbelt alarm
Best have it fixed under the warranty. At least it is easy to look to the seat and tell the passenger to buckle up.

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
So Highland Council are proposing doubling or more than doubling actually the price of EV charging. Not as ridiculous an increase as a council suggested last year. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-64424890 Electricity is expensive, but then the Highland Council Region should have more of the employees Pension Money and what ever they have invested in Community Wind Farms and taxing properly the on land wind farms. Not just for EV drivers but for the Regions economic good. They have Tax Payer money invested with plenty others things and financial institutions.

Rained inside car: passenger side insulation under carpet moist
If warm & dry outside you get the windows open, or get into a heated building / garage and windows open, you use kitchen towels, the stuff at the trolley park at the supermarket or newspapers and you keep changing them. Use a greenhouse heater inside with the windows a little open when parked. Get Damp Traps in the car. All depends on just how wet. Concentrate on getting as much water absorbed as you can even if that is changing the paper often.

He is at a Rapid with a 7 kW AC on the side, fair enough, but he does not explain that a AC Tethered on the side with 43 or 25 kW is what some need to charge their car if the have only AC and not DC charging, Early and now late Zoe possibly. She is not going unless he buys lunch. I would not go with him even if he pays for Dinner Bed & Breakfast.

Octavia Mk3 timing belt costs
Taxi drivers do not charge customers the same fare as they did a few years back so mechanics can not be expected to either. Then there is cash in hand or parts and labour & 20% vat so be considered, then location location location. At least with Taxis and business's the servicing and maintenance is just another overhead to be taken into account before you pay tax on the profits.

1.5 TSI timing belt interval
Independents are going to be getting plenty 1.5 TSI ACT,s coming in and will be buying the tool. It will pay for it's self once they do a few jobs. This is just the start of the Audi, Skoda, SEAT & VW,s with the engines needing the job done.

DRG transmission problem - fixed
There is a TPI covering the DQ200 from around the time of the OP's build and there were up-rated clutch packs that some got. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/439395-the-story-of-the-famous-dq200-clutch-slip/page/7 @DonweatherDealership staff and Skoda employees do indeed say the clutch packs are excluded in the warranrty. THEY NEED TO READ THE WARRANTY THAT CAME WITH THAT VEHICLE, THEN CALL A FRIEND, CALL ANYONE, BUT GET THINGS RIGHT. (Bottom line of current screen grab is a current UK warranty.) The T&C's in the Manufacturers warranty and the Approved Used Warranty and the Extended Warranty are what matters. DSG is not excluded now and there have been times in the past when not. Then the Warranty at the time of purchase is what matters. If an Extended Warranty covers a DSG then it is 'Simply Clever' to buy one IMO. Running a DSG without one has been a risk with a DQ200, and now with DQ381,s i would not take the chance. ** The thing with the DQ200 DSG's is it could be Clutch Plates, or selector forks, or the MCU. With the DQ381's it looks so far very much the Mechatronic Control Units', as wet clutch DSG's having clutch pack issues is really not an issue.** We will see how ling they keep to this 80,000 miles service schedule, and when they are going to have to extend warranties on these if over the years there are failures. 5 YEAR MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY IN AUSTRALIA. PROBABLY DUE TO HOW THEY HAVE COCK_ED UP BADLY OVER THE PAST YEARS. Recalls and service campaigns since 2012 and then needed repeated right up to 2019. SKODA_Warranty_Terms_November_2021.pdf

DRG transmission problem - fixed
From the previous thread by the OP it is a DQ200 DSG. @ 5 years only is a rather sad state of affairs and why an extended warranty that covers the DSG is rather important. @keble6How many miles had your car done, and had you it from new?

1.5 TSI timing belt interval
@gm73Will maybe let us know what Henrys or Arnold Clark quotes. So not a Euro 6 1.4 TSI, a 1.5 TSI ACT so a different matter. The belt of these will last their life. If the fail that is their life. So the earliest 1.5 TSI ACT in the Skoda's was in 2017. Before in other VW Group models. We will see eventually how long the tensioners are good for. http://skodamedia.com/en-gb/releases/798 VW seem to have designed an engine without too much though to the future servicing and timing belt replacement. If it is going to be over half a day's hours of a competent tech or fitter then there is going to be a bit of a wait to get cars in for the job in some areas. .......... 1.4 TSI & 1.5 TSI's discussed here also TDI's which is a separate kettle of fish, . http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/506921-octavia-mk3-timing-belt-costs

1.5 TSI timing belt interval
£1,300 is the highest quote so far. That is for a 1.5 TSI ACT. That is in the thread for a Karoq. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505586-cost-of-cambelt-change-page/2 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510175-karoq-cam-belt-change-start-saving-now Mk3 Octavia 1.5 TSI, more sensible money. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507544-cam-belt-for-15-tsi-in-east-kent

Error: selector lever...
@Ahmedg The DSG shifter issues are pretty well documented, but what about with the 8 speed torque converter automatics like you have, are the issue / fault free and what sort of servicing / ATF changes do they require?

Does all skoda dealers use erwin for service history?
It is just access into the VW Group Servicing, or other manufacturers that Car Supermarkets and the trade have. *Those pages were 'Not for customers eyes' as the cost of actual parts / work shows that they are using for HMRC when paying tax on profits.* Many things actually cost very little to do before a used car sale'. I told the person i was dealing with to stop ar5ing about an pull it up. This was at a MotorChoice place that were saying a Full Service History with this car but the car traded in did not have a History even though it was them that had sold it. This Audi A1 history was there when they were pushed, history from an Audi dealership which actually is owned by the same people that own MotorChoice. John Clark Motor Group. An Audi they did not want to sell through the Audi Dealership right next door.... http://pinewood.co.uk/dms-features/vehicle-health-check http://pinewood.co.uk
