  1. It is a Body work inspection which is part of getting main dealer services. They do not do it but shows as part of a service. Skoda say it is not done. But the Warranty does not state it is annual, bi annual or 3 yearly. So this nonsense comes up. I can link stuff when I am not on a phone. Look at the pinned thread at the top of the Citigo section. Loads of my posts in there about this.
  2. In the future you want to go to The Victoria Garage in Maud for proper mechanics to do a proper job. Skoda techs with all the gear and more than ideas.
  3. It is just as well to disable alarms because regardless of when they go off be it in a city, car park or even in a rural area nobody takes a blind bit of notice that matters or approaches you too question if you are the legit owner / driver. They might give a look as you mess about getting the alarm off, maybe give you one of those looks like got the T-Shirt.
  4. They cheated not for the sake of customers but for the Owners of German Car Manufacturers. Daimler Benz, Mercedes and VW because when. AdBlue systems were required the tanks were going to have to be too big. The European Authorities let it be. That included the UK that were well aware of defeat devices before late 2015. Ps. Stefan Jacoby the CEO of VW North America up to 2010 was a VW insider, then head of Geely/Volvo then GM. Many like him who are supposedly deaf, dumb and blind are still there heading whatever in the car industry. They never went to jail, that was just for minions. PS. Stefan Jacoby now a Non executive director at McLaren Group. Worth watching him back in 2008 launching GREEN TDI,s in the USA. Worth looking where he was from starting with VW to leaving, returning, leaving again.
  5. The Owner Manuals tells you pretty much when it will or not operate. Then there are all the threads on this and other forums. A common reason might be the requested interior temp of the car being 16 Degree C higher than the Ambient temp. The car / engine / oil / coolant can be cold from a cold start and not a lot of load on the battery and the cars heater not set high and the battery in a good state and the Stop / Start even work in a few yards after moving off and them stopping. Not all cars will, but some do if you leave Stop / Start enabled.
  6. The 1.0TSI's that are maybe starting to get a bit filled up might be showing a bit of a high tick over. This might be an issue on a icy road with cold car, cold brakes, cold tyres, cold driver. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/508507-car-accelerates-quickly-when-cold-and-has-a-high-idle-if-you-switch-off-and-restart VW / Skoda tell you about GPF's if you look. Sometime Dealership staff will be more aware about them.
  7. Clean the area. Polish / wax the paintwork, body edge and flap edge. Silicone spray the catch if there is one, the hinge if you can and if any available cable then that. Make sure if any electronic catch it is cleaned. Then repeat as the winter goes on. If at any point you need warm water to get the flap open then remember to dry that off before it freezes again.
  8. Derran Brown has left the building. There are beginning to be issues with early VW TSI,s with GPF,s. Small capacity so far. Lockdown / COVID and lack of use or just short cold start trips maybe. If there is issues at 5 years and on with 2.0 TSI,s it will be the next big VW ball-s up. As it is nobody is giving the price of replacing the GPF,s. Maybe someone knows how much main dealers will be charging if the need comes.
  9. Cars all prepped again before some freezing weather hits. Tyres checked for pressures, screen wash, anti freeze and oil, brake fluid and autobox level Clean dry rubber mats in. No carpet ones. Windows cleaned and prepped inside and out. Door and hatch seals prepped and a damp trap in the car and boot. Hats, gloves, de-icer ect in cars. Ps. Mirrors set not to auto fold / freeze closed. Fuel filler flap prepped.
  10. Really try to see where that engine oil is coming from. Be sure that it is not Oil leaking from the DSG / MCU. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/477945-dsg-oil-leak ............. THIS MIGHT BECOME COMMON IF MAIN DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT GOING TO SERVICE CARS TO THE MANUFACTURERS GUIDELINES< RECOMMENDATION, OR SPECIFICATIONS. OR TELL OWNERS IT IS REQUIRED. So, Has the VAQ Diff been serviced? @ 3 years / 30,000 miles. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501456-front-differential-to-gearbox-oil-leak http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/494489-front-differential-service-vrs-245 @manamp27 All the best with whoever you are going to for servicing and to get the leak checked. Be sure to ask about what they have done in the past and about servicing the VAQ Diff. & do they know about servicing them. It can be like the blind leading the blind. Too many in the business of servicing & maintaining cars seem clueless. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/469617-rs245-engine-oil-specification
  11. The cable you would carry about in the car will be Type 2 to Type 2 to use on 7 kW and 11 / 22 kW AC so a thicker one. At home if just a 7 kW charger it can be a Type 2 to Type 2 that is not as Heavy Duty that you are using, or the one from the car. (I have only a 7kW on board charging so not a thick cable in the car.)
  12. @Mr GrumpWhat car or cars are you going to be charging? As far as the £179 you mention if you were not getting a charger with a tethered cable. Are you not going to have a Type 2 cable coming with what ever car you get?
  13. ^^^ Apart from all those Ex Management / Ex Demonstrators that Dealerships punt at a nice profit as long as they have done 3,000 miles or they have had them for 3 months. Not so many right enough during the car shortage, but they still manage to 'drive them' from new and not notice they are 'faulty' and then sell them still needing software updates. 'Never seen that', n Never heard of that before'. Overblown on Social Media', Because 'drivers of 'Ex Management cars' can be 3 monkeys.
  14. On a phone people might not see what is shown at the left. UK Owners were screwed & still have been getting by Skoda / VW with DQ200's out of Manufacturers Warranty. So 3 years or even the 4 or 5 year if you buy an extended warranty is just so so. No big deal sadly when there are failures that are because of fundamental design, manufacturing, materials as there has been for over a decade now with DQ200's. So the UK / EU / Europe was not part of the World Wide Recall in 2012/13 that was just a Service Campaign started in 2014. In some Countries like the Far East the Warranty was extended to 10 years / 100,000 miles when the crap hit the fan. In New Zealand the Recall Action had the DQ200's getting a New MCU fitted and not just the Synthetic Oil changed for Mineral oil on ones from 2009-2012. Then those with late 2012 ones told to GTF, and then another Service Campaign in 2017 on 2013-2015 DQ200's. Only some. So the Warranty on the DSG's should be a good thing. But really no help with many that will have failures as some since 2018 are now failing prematurely. That is Wet Clutch ones not only 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG's. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/315115-service-campaign-dq200-dsg-oil-changeecu-update-fabias-in-uk

? How many miles has it done? Probably best stick with them as long as you can get covered, that is If the DSG is covered, so the clutches & MCU & you are having it serviced when due, and if not covered and a wet clutch DSG then just be sure to keep getting it serviced correctly when due. http://insurewithskoda.co.uk/extended-warranty

  17. People will just have to drive with a light foot. Plenty BMW i3's & other RWD EV's have been getting about on winter roads on OE tyres. We will see how they are getting about on snow this week in the North East of Scotland just like any other RWD, FWD or even AWD with the tyres they leave the factory wearing. Lots of EV's seem to be driving about with pretty worn out tyres. eg older Nissan Leafs. Or maybe give BMW i3's you see out in the snow / ice a wide berth...
  18. Really what needs clearing up is, was the Haldex Serviced and given a oil change and clean out, & also the Rear Diff which is a different thing, different drain hole. different oil. One of several very similar threads sadly. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/428562-rear-diff-failure-following-haldex-oil-change More. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/485788-cracked-haldex-unit/page/6 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/485788-cracked-haldex-unit.
  19. ? So is it 10 seconds as published above, or 30 seconds as spoken below in the first vid as read from something else that was published? Best not get one then if you want to be taking it to the 1/4 mile strip or doing lots of traffic light grand pr1-ck starts. Still nippy though even if not putting out 100% of the linear power / torque. **Once you have got something off your tail and you are zooming along at 112 mph it will likely keep doing that even if only putting out 245 bhp because the battery has been used up and only has 20% left or even less.**
  20. You can not change anything about how they have your 2013 TDI which is as a Euro 5 emission car with a DPF, and not a Euro 6. You could remove the engine and fit a Electric Motor & big battery so converting it to an EV. Probably replacing it will be simpler / cheaper. You might get a Petrol car for the money your diesel car is worth.
  21. Trusted Dealer. No way. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/508567-suggestions-on-where-to-purchase-a-spare-car-key Wonderful response from Skoda UK's Customer Service providers. Not. So supposedly instead of replacing the spark plugs at 4 years & 27,000 miles, THEY CHECKED THEM. Actually took out 3 spark plugs, checked the gap and then replaced them.
  22. No idea but 3 cylinders and with a GPF. Hopefully others with a 4 year old ones can compare with theirs. ? How long have you had it, is it from new? Has it always sounded as it does now? Maybe makes no difference, but has it got in 5w 30 FS III oil or 0w 20 FS IV so VW508 00. ? Have the spark plugs been replaced yet. 27,000 miles is not much but they are a 40,000 / 4 year item, and just 3 to check / replace. EDIT. PS. I remember after looking at your other posts. So the car they were going to change the DSG oil in that never needed it, and that could maybe really do with a service. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/508519-advice-on-dsg-7-speed-gear-box
  23. The ones that have ACT after them or if a AUDI COD / Cylinder on Demand. So 1.4 TSI ACT or 1.4 TFSI COD, or 1.5 TSI ACT / 1.5 COD. As to which Skoda models for the 1.4 TSI ACT's. no idea. ................ I had a Golf 2.0 TDI 115ps 7 speed DSG for a week just recently and it gave amazing economy and was 'Coasting' lots as in everytime my toe was off the accelerator and there was no load on the engine. 75-80 mpg was dead easy to get without hypermileing. It was a bit of a pig from a standing start in D so i put it in S and the thing did not bog down from 1st to 2nd it held the rpm. Then in D or S and with coasting having the car really freewheeling the paddles or the shifter were perfect to just drop a gear or 2 and slow the car rather than touching the accelerator until it was needed, sometimes it was not as once back in 7th it just rolled along. The ACC was great as was the Lane Keep Assist and the Speed Sign reading. VW had it pretty good other than the lack of physical buttons. ................. As to my 2.0 TDI SCR DSG Alhambra used over the A93 & roads Dundee to Nairn or Forfar to Nairn by the B974 / A939 and back the difference could be as 3.5 - 5 miles per gallon sometimes more using 'Coasting' compared to not. The journey times were no different. I only tried without using 'coasting' enabled so that i could compare the difference that could be achieved from the 63 litre tank. The reason it was easy to compare on this route is i did it regularly and in all weathers as long as the roads are open. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/386035-dsg-coasting-in-eco-mode http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/451452-coasting-in-normalsport http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/496954-rev-counter-in-eco-mode http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/470440-coasting-to-save-fuel
