  1. A huge amount of North & Irish sea natural gas used to produce materials for those batteries around the globe. Not mentioned much by the UK Government, even in the past month when there is a possibility of shortages this winter. A huge amount of materials and the energy from coal is from Australia for any manufactures including China, Japan, South Korea & Europe.
  2. @cheezemonkhaianyone that would compare a MG4 & an EV6. Anyone buying any car with a clean conscience eludes me. Mining of metals and minerals, wasteful use of energy building them and powering them, pollution through their life and then their disposal. What was wrong with dugout canoes, sailing ships and shanks's pony.
  3. Nadhim Zahawi, Kwasi Kwarteng, Liz Truss just the start of those that have their Oil & Gas Business Donors, the Conservative Party is flooded with money from Oil & Gas. Boris & Priti Patel might be out of the picture now but plenty went towards him & her just this past year. Lots of Oil & Gas and energy companies representatives at the SNP Conference last week including Drax. http://theferret.scot/snp-criticised-hosting-major-polluters-conference
  4. A mix of fuels & energ sources are needed and Aberdeen & part of Fife & around the Moray Firth and Northern & Western Islands have loads of available electricity and more coming which is why they are producing Hydrogen. Pity that somehow there is seemingly according to the Prime Minister an energy crisis in Scotland & it needs Nuclear to assist the UK. What there is is too much being paid for energy that is being produced while the supply is being limited to manipulate the prices / costs. That is why the 'Cap on profits / mark up' might be coming. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63224014 The people of the UK are being conned at how cheaply electricity can be produced and provided and that the infrastructure and storage is an issue of Governments making. http://news.sky.com/story/government-plans-cap-on-revenues-of-renewable-energy-firms-12718382 Conned as well by middle east Gas & Oil Producers like those Kwasi Kwarteng MP was visiting only in February who were flying him around giving him a nice jolly and having undue influence. All coming out in the wash though after FOI requests. Lots of towns and cities are near the sea, most of the biggest are or by rivers, that is why they are where they are, or near hills. So possible wave, wind, hydro is not far away. Local transport is local and council vehicles are local. Hydrogen and electric for within the towns and cities, and hydrogen can get you city to city. Not rocket science or rocket fuel. http://
  5. Strange comparing those 2 as really apple and pears. More like like Oranges and Tangerines.
  6. @Auxiliary I would not try it, and i think you should not either. I am not trying to encourage you, just encouraging you to think more seriously. If things go wrong have you another car handy? Best get the car serviced and running perfectly.
  7. Yes. Try 20% first. Did you sort out the cars judder, is there new spark plugs in?
  8. @Auxiliary You will know within a few km of trying it, or maybe a few meters once it gets through to the engine. Best try with just a 1/4 tank first. ? How much cheaper is E85 to mix with E5 or E10? ? Does the car run well now? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501115-occasionally-judder-at-idle-help/page/3
  9. The stronger / reinforced sidewalls will be perfect. Maybe a firmer ride, but then risk of damage with ironwork on roads and potholes reduced. The grip will be good with the correct All-Season tyres, and the correct load / speed rating, and they need not be the big name / brand to do the job required. ie get you and loved ones about safely.
  10. @Auxiliary? How much less does a litre of E85 cost compared to E10 in Sweden? Are there others using it in cars like yours? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_flexible-fuel_vehicles_by_car_manufacturer The VW / Skoda UP! / Citigo 1.0 TSI in South America runs on E85. Engine different as well from Europe where the Citigo never got a 1.0TSI engine just a MPI. They have a bigger fuel tank in these cars than those in Europe or rest of the world so that they can run E85.

  12. @bmask90 have the 'Brakes' had any servicing / maintenance? Been looked at, stripped and cleaned, the pads condition checked? , & maybe a brake fluid change or 3 since 2014. Look after your brakes and they might look after you. It helps to reducing the chance of thinks breaking when you are braking.
  13. That must be E85 then if it contains 15% petrol. No idea about your engine. Doubt it though. ? Are you trying to save money from buying E10, and are you running E10 now?
  14. Best you go see a Trained & Qualified Motor Mechanic and one that is experienced with VW Group engines. No point waiting to the engine really is wrecked. Hydrolocked. Don't think so. But then that is a guess as that is all anyone is doing without getting to look at the car.
  15. When reversing intake flaps close so your ventilation is different from when moving forward. Service the AC / Cars air intakes. Fresh Pollen Filter, clean / disinfect the area, intakes etc. Be sure there is no mould / bacteria about.
  16. @BML Adrian Flux can speak up for themselves or @DAN@ADRIAN FLUXcan. Here is a review. You can try for quote for insurance for a vehicle, maybe a modified vehicle and some muppet on their phone lines is clueless. Or you can get insurance with Adrian Flux and then when renewal comes up it is a ridiculous price. But that is past experiences. Not darkened their door for maybe 6 years now because they were so bad to deal with.
  17. The rear brakes can cause an issue. Autohold is not just on the rears like the e-brake is, it actuates all 4 brakes and just enough to hold the car. So servicing of all the brakes is important. First brake fluid change due at 3 years, but if not changing at lease test the brake fluid for H2o content.
  18. @sepulchraveMy hero. You are fantastic, a font of knowledge but not the OP that comes to a forum asking a question and getting passed your amazing knowledge, sometimes totally gained from forums rather than working on or running the actual vehicles.
  19. 'Snagging faults' which Skoda / VW Group need to resolve. It is a choice to not be bothered if you own the car or even just lease and are handing it back, but as well to report to an Authorised Repairer / Main Dealership while a car is in warranty. Then they can not say, 'never seen or heard of that', or 'They all do that it is a characteristic designed in by VW Software engineers to keep owners amused'. It is a glitch, even a fault that should not be there and needs resolving. As well done while a car is within the manufacturers warranty.
  20. @t13nyr I love a Full History. Especially if it is a History showing all Servicing & Maintenance done to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines or even a schedule which many are not. Even Skoda Approved Used cars with Main Dealer Service Histories might not have a history of stuff done on time, or even done.
  21. @j caff I think you have a DQ400-e with a 1.4 TSI PHEV. Check that with a Dealership. As to your Car / Engine Servicing, i assume your car is on Fixed Service Oil & Filter changes. ? Is that at 9,000 / 9,4000 miles ?
  22. It can not be a RECALL if no RECALL was done or the Registered Keeper Informed. I do wish Dealership staff would stop calling things Recalls if no recall was done, just the car happened to come into them. So a Recall Action, a Workshop Action, a TPI. This is a Skoda VW issue. Need to know basis and car Owner / Drivers might be the last to know, and if the car does not get Main Dealer Servicing it might not get done. Even Skoda Approved Used cars can go through the trade with Updates not being done because no Service was done before a new owner gets the car.
  23. Indeed. First and fore most know the spec. Then know why there are suggestions and recommendations over the past 12 years why to not use 5w 30 FS II with a CAVE engine. So not the VW504 00 / 507 00 Spec Long Life oil, unless you want to.
