Cam Belt for 1.5 TSI in East Kent
@johnmb Did you ask those doing the quoting of £600 & £900 if they wanted to go ask the Master Tech what they would be doing as one might well have been quoting with the Water Pump being replaced. Not required. Be sure any Independent is familiar with doing a 1.5 TSI Cambelt. All the gear and more than idea. You do not want to be the first that they have done. Re your servicing. What has been done in the past? Spark Plugs replaced, pollen filter, air filter, brake fluid, was this at the recommended intervals, Miles or Year? Your DSG does not require an Oil Change Service. Your Water Pump does not need replaced. Last years prices probably for many main dealers that do Fixed Price Servicing & Maintenance.

Do not delay reporting to a Main Dealership in the UK, or maybe anyplace else globally. Be sure it is logged formally, and passed on to grown ups. In the UK they will soon tell you about Warranty Exclusions and 6 months / 6,5000 miles for panel fit etc. Tell the Dealers, they can tell Skoda UK and they can tell Skoda CZ, then nobody can say, 'Never heard of that', and if they say, 'They all do that'. you can say then fix your Snagging Faults now and get your act together in the factory.- Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
There is a very major affect that followed the Software Update. Not the being locked out the car twice this morning and needing to use the key out of the fob. It is the shifter back to B. In and around town i use D so that i do not spin wheels if accelerating away from lights and for the lighter steering. S is too quick and the steering is heavy. In B the car feels dead and the steering is dead heavy, but i do use B to do like one pedal driving, decelerating in town and out driving quickly in D or S. Like changing down gear. Today driving in D and moving to B really is like 'One pedal Driving'. It will bring the car to a stop quicker in a 20 or 30 MPH limit. Just need to then hold on the brake or the e-Brake and move shifter back to D for moving off. I like it. Even less braking will be getting done and time will tell how soon that front discs are gubbed and until the rears are grinding again.- 1.0 TSI Cam Belt change
Do not talk to Dealers or the people they have on the service desk, ask if a trained Technician or fitter or the master techs that know the engines can talk to you. or just to them as they do not know their arse from their elbow.- Approved used Mini (or how I do so love dealers and their interpretations)
It is a Crazy thing for MINI / MINI - BMW UK to have in the Adverts on Approved Used cars regarding the Warranty.. But they passed that, they really need to own the statement.- Skoda Fabia 2015 model . Radio/Touch screen error. Emergency upgrade.
- Reset DSG ‘learning’
@simonharper It has a short memory. I would try and get a road test in a Kodiaq pretty much identical to yours to compare. Where your previous automatics ones built pre WLTP Certification. VW Group had issues getting some certificated. Many Auto's, Semi Auto's or Automated Manuals are just fine, pre WLTP ones or post.- Skoda Fabia 2015 model . Radio/Touch screen error. Emergency upgrade.
- Upgrading brakes with same disc size?
Does your ABS not kick in anyway under hard braking and still you might have your tyres sliding along the road? Whatever discs you go for, fit better brake hoses, better brake pads & very obviously better tyres if not already fitted. So better driving considering that you have a bit of a fat lump and not that much engine braking with a DQ200 DSG but you can knock off speed with manual shifts and foot off the accelerator. That is maybe teaching granny to suck eggs, sorry for that.- Lane assist is dangerous
The simple reason that 'Off' was not available as a default setting was that the Manufacturers which in this case is Skoda / VW Group were developing and using customers as the road test dummies before the Lane Keep Assist became mandatory from the factory. 'Off' is still an option once new Type Approved cars have the systems as standard. 'Drive safely, drive in control, you decide how your car goes down the road, you have the license and can lose it'. Muppets who might be politicians that might not even drive cars decided on the introduction of the new safety features. http://bikeradar.com/features/lane-keeping-assist-cyclists- Left Foot Brake override possible?
@grumpy1Do you have a Mk2 or a Mk1 Fabia? Traction Control / ASR does not stop you using the brake pedal to bed in brake pads, why would you need to switch it Off if you have it.- Approved used Mini (or how I do so love dealers and their interpretations)
@Aspmanis it less than 12 months since you got the car? As well to formally make a claim under their T&C's, published guff.- MK3 choice
Not true. Drives to give comfort like a Taxi / Airport Transport, after all that is what many are for. Perfect for getting around UK roads with corners as they have a 60 mph speed limit anyway. Perfect over speed bumps ect. If you want a crashy model then do not go for a L&K. Actually if you want a sporty handling car maybe forget an Octavia. PS. I hope you are going to try some before buying, and a proper long road test of the one you finally chose.- Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
So there are new discs on the rear. Big deal. Never used the brakes on the way home. So the car has actually done 35,869 miles. At 25,000 miles the milometer went back to 12,500 overnight with an update. Then another time near 10,000 just went after the screen blacking for hours. I find it hard to believe any software update was done successfully. Odd readings now on the power use. **Service indicator not reset** as far as showing on the App that has the wrong miles on the different pages and then the cars miles. Car not washed even though i was there 1 hour after i was called to say car was ready. Fuse Cover was on the passenger floor not put back on, glove compartment lid left open, plastic disposable cover left on seat, dirty paper floor cover left and drivers seat fully forward as some short arse had left it. Waiting on the customer service survey. I could not be bothered going in to talk with the morons.- Reset DSG ‘learning’
^^^ Very true. But then if they had made them to suit driving hill roads / alpine roures in a way that drivers want they would never have got them to achieve the WLTP figures when tested in that regime or the RDE2.- Reset DSG ‘learning’
Easy enough to use the shifter between S and back to D and to S as required if not changing manually and going back to D once on the go or then to S. They are Semi-Automatics. Lots of people fit a 'Pedal Box' and say that has the DSG behaving better.- Automatic Overheat Warning Sign Problem
@T_Ahmed Did you ask at the Skoda or VW / SEAT dealers who does their Auto Box repairs. Automated Manuals if they do not touch them.- How do I find out my gearbox code
They stopped putting in Service Books in 2012. There are some that had the Build Sticker in the Owners Manual Cover page if that is still with the car. @Crucian Going by your 2014 i knew it was a CTHE, as CAVE engines discontinued Autumn 2012. I will assume your car has it's original engine and not a replacement, and the DSG it left the factory with. ................... http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/432730-oil-leak This was one of the last cars built. It needed Service Campaign 34H5 which was on some DQ200 DSGs from 2013-2015 and started in 2017 but not all keepers were told about, or they asked and were told not required. That was an error with some that should have had the Software Update. This never showed it even when the car was maybe one that did require 34H5. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions .................................................... Just be sure you do compare insurance and that the MPI is actually cheaper than a 1.2 TSI.- Water Pump
Good practice with some engines. No harm done though, it is just money after all. Certainly not something yet that is an issue with Euro 6 1.4 TSI', but time will tell your preventative maintenance might prove to be correct. You can not know how engine components might be after 6 - 7 years till we get to 7 years.- Water Pump
@BRUN Has the water pump failed / is leaking?- Suspension Knock
What is it about the Dampers (shocks) that they think causes the knock even if they do leak?- Front knocking noise from LHS (we think)
@JamesStam Were you paying the dealership £115 for a diagnosis or £60 for the first 30 minutes diagnosis, or was the car back to where you bought it using your consumer rights?- Suspension Knock
