Mk4 Diesel Vrs first service.
@phh683 You never said what mileage your car had done. ? So was that a 1st Service @ 1 year (372 days) because you asked for a Fixed Service Regime or the car came on that. Or have you done over 9,400 miles. The car could have been on a Variable / Flexible service as it left the factory, so 24 Months / 18,000-20,000 miles. That would have been a Oil & Inspection Service with a Pollen filter change and the price you paid. I feel you were ripped off as you had a Oil Service & Inspection which is no more than was required. Brake Inspections are free. The VW 508 00 / 509 00 has not increased that much. The thing about the Skoda Fixed Price Service & Maintenance price at Participating or even p!ss taking dealers is that is not really a price for a 1st Service if the car is on a Fixed Service Regime. It is a ripp off.

Extended Warranty?
There is a 'known' 'unknown'. That is the GPF's with the 1.0TSI's. They have been fitted for long enough without many 'reported issues' on Social Media or Motoring Journals or anyplace. So cars doing high miles, low miles, short or long journeys, parked up lots or used every day. But we maybe need to get to 5 years before we know how they are after 5 years. We need to find out if the GPF needs replacing how much the part is and how much Main Dealers will be charging to do a replacement. Hopefully they are proven to be rouble free, have a long life and are saving the planet. EDIT / PS. My Typo 'Rouble' instead of trouble might not be so very wrong.

Extended Warranty?
I can not see what your car is so will assume a 1.0 TSI. If you have a DSG then a Skoda extended warranty is a no brainer IMO. If not I would just get servicing done at an independent and put the money saved and a bit more aside for any stuff needing done. If you have any issues now have them reported while the car is in warranty if anything that the warranty covers. Get the MOT done in the 4 weeks before the car is 3 years old. Ps. Sorry since 3 years old on Friday best get that MOT now if not already done.

Spare wheel issue
Anyone daft enough to have as a spare such an undersized wheel / tyre and then put it on and drive with it really needs to give themselves a shake. The head cases that run about for weeks with skinny space savers on for weeks even at uk motorway speeds are ignored even by police officers.

UK Public Charger Network & price increases as they are announced. Please post here as you become aware of any changes in the costs.
@wyx087Looking forward to a pic of your car and your first impressions. Enjoy.

7 speed DSG - oil change or not?
The DQ200 DSG is sealed for life, and there are 2 oils. in the box and in the MCU. No servicing recommendations, guidelines or schedules and no need to change the oil. But some do anyway, because they are sealed, but not for life.

North East 250. Scotland.
The Tour of Britain Cycling 2022 Live TV coverage from the start in Aberdeen was not available because of the rain. It is now on ITV 4 as they approach Ballater, then it is to Braemar to finish at Glenshee. Hopefully they will be able to broadcast pictures from the Helicopter from Braemar to Glenshee Ski Centre.

A milestone
That is good. People who have 100% of highway driving are not so lucky with their Haldex. That is a lot of Engine Oil & Filters though.

A milestone
@Meyannos Wunderba. ? Are you servicing the Haldex every 30,000 miles & the DSG every 40,000?

1.2 TSI running rough after cambelt change
@nbramwelYes indeed, the thread and picture is about a 1.2 TSI 4 cylinder, but @Twizhas a 1.0 TSI 3 cylinder & no photo. 1.0TSI Cambelt changes is something that needs even more care than usual to do, (but care and knowledge isalways required) so all the gear and more than ideas. http://mechanexpert.com/timing-belt-replacement-on-mk7-golf-1-0-tsi

Spare wheel issue
@MartiniB So not true in your experience. I am not talking about what or what not gets disabled / imobilized. Just TPMS,s alerts, with the simple system as fitted to Skoda, VW Group and others. So true according to me who when i pick up Used Cars , Cars from Auctions etc checks fluids and tyre pressures and then to see if the TPMS's work before they get prepped for resale will stop and let air out a tyre to check the TPMS works, then reset, then drive and let air out another, etc. In my pack there is always a couple of cans of tyre weld just incase. That is how you can check Used Cars TPMS's. I used to change many wheels & tyres and balance and fit different sizes for Track, Sprints, Hill Climbs and set or not set TPMS's. With Snow Chains or Snow Socks fitted i then switch off the TC / ASR and then reset the TPMS as usually they are just on the front drive wheels and not going on all 4. Or rear wheels on some AWD / 4x4's RWD,s.

Spare wheel issue
^^^ The point is with the OEM system you can put your tyres to 4 different pressures and set the TPMS and then get no warning as long as none of the circumferences change much from what was set. You can fit the Spare, reset the TPMS and get no warning, you might get the puncture fixed put the wheel back on and not reset the TPMS and then you will get a warning. Easy enough to know. If on your way to do tyre pressures, let a few pressures down and drive. Get a warning. Stop & reset the TPMS and drive with the odd tyre pressures / circumferences and see if you get a TPMS warning. Then obviously when you put air in you will be resetting the TPMS.

Peugeot 306, Worth Owning As A Future Classic?
@wilson-uk-85 Drive ones right after your Fabia DSG and if they excite you then you will know if worth spending quite a lot of money on a car that will cost quite a lot and never get you back what you spend on it, but maybe loads of smiles per mile. If you have a nice one then stopping other stealing it or trying to will be something you need to do because it will be more of a toerag magnet than a Fabia Mk3. Research on the Enthusiasts forums and checking prices on cars and parts and rubbish people want rid of is most important. Crazy paying too much for a problem one if you need others to do work on them as you can not do it yourself.

Spare wheel issue
The warning is not only 1 going flat. Some people get a warning and when they check the pressures they were as set. There can be a warning if a wheel bearing is going or a brake binding and then the rim gets hot and the tyre has expended. Not common but it happens and drivers should be aware of that. PS. All tyres do not need to be set at the same pressure obviously, and some might not have 4 identical tyres fitted, some like me have larger (circumference) tyres on the front sometimes. Or people have different pressures front and rear. You can even fit a spare and reset the TPMS and get no warning with an odd one out, actually 2 odd if the other side is different from the pair at the other end of the car.

Power Steering Level
It was possible to set the 'Disability setting' on cars and lighter steering and more brake assist and was often done for Motability Customers, maybe for those using a steering ball or hand controls etc. Is that no longer the case. Many cars at the end of a Motability Lease go to BCA and then into the motor trade without being put back to the Factory Setting because the last Service and the MOT can be up to 2 months before the cars hand back. Some might have reduced assist and that can be how you get a used car. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/294303-vcds-steering-assist-polo-gti-setting

Spare wheel issue
On the same 17" Gigaro rims. 205/40 R 17 XL. Off the car the Pirelli Zero Nero with the stonger sidewalls that disguised the pulling to the left that dealers never managed to fix so Skoda Approved the tyres changed under warranty. On the car the OEM Dunlop Sport Maxx that gave good grip in the warm and ok in the wet unlike the Pirelli Ditch finders. Lovely secure feeling on the road with the Dunlops. the Pirelli needed steering assistance reduced to not feel skittery or light even if you reduced the tyre pressures.. On the front a 215/40 17 Goodride tyre & next to it the Pirelli in 205/40 R 17. Same rims.

Spare wheel issue
Actually you are supposed to drive to a place of safety or get a repair done ASAP if using an Emergency Spare Wheel. This is not a Space Saver, or a Saver of Space this is a poorly sized 'Full Sized Spare Wheel. Not Full Size by any stretch of the imagination. 50 MPH as a maximum would be unsafe. Thank goodness stuff disables it's self to save people from their own actions.

Spare wheel issue
SIMPLES. The Full Size Spare is not Full Sized enough for the 235/ 45 R 18's. Not an ickle bit smaller, it is far too much smaller. Re TPMS. When you fit a spare you can reset the TPMS and maybe first time or after a 2nd the car is fine with an odd one out tyre pressure. (You can set 4 different pressures. ) it need not be 2 front, 2 rear, it can be 2 front, 1 rear and another rear and no TPMS warning. Try it sometime.

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
A new Rapid installed in the centre of Forfar, and a 7 kW AC @ the Myre Car Park. Not yet on the CPS App, or ZapMap or PlugShare but it would have been rude not to see if it worked and it did. So i parked with my rear passenger side quarter panel next to the Charger, sensible would be normally to reverse to that position. Actually using the Bays as marked is not going to suit many vehicles other than maybe at one bay. Thats just how things go. Not always the brightest do the design, installation or marking. The only bay suitable for my car will be the one nearest in the picture as the furthest one will not allow the CCS to get to my charge port. If someone is on a AC i am stuffed. But i will ignore the marking and reverse up close to the charger if i ever need to use it. eg. Bottom is the other charger in town.

Preconditioning Battery
@Zinc i understand that as i drive EV's. But heating a parked up cars battery using the battery before driving when not plugged in is saving nothing, but it does heat the cabin if you want that. When like me you have a small battery you actually know how to hypermile them. Pre Heating a battery while parked to just then go on a charger to get a quicker charge with a pre heated battery is just stupid, but then anyone can do as they wish. Turning on the Car and clearing the Ice or starting it melting is simply clever, then starting the car before driving off does work. Then you will be wanting to be putting that power back in and a heated battery when you reach the charger might make a difference. But then the chargers can be putting out a pathetic power. That is real world use. Lovely when you get plugged in, the heating up full and seat heating and the windows cracked open.
-
Preconditioning Battery
"If the car is connected to the charging station the battery will remain un-affected." are her words. So if the car is un-connected to the charger then a quick warm up of the interior / melting thawing the ice off the windows is 'Simply Clever', But pre heating the battery is just using battery power that you put in while it was connected to the charger.

Looking for colour match to touch up Mk2 VRS alloys
I believe that. P is Dark Chrome Gigaro. T can show as a Black Gigaro but without silver edge i thing. So looks like a Trinity in Black. D is Black Gigaro. Then there are Silver Gigaro & White Gigaro. Top Black Gigaro. Bottom Dark Chrome Gigaro.
