  1. Not as good financially for them compared to getting BEV's for that sort of use.
  2. If the A-B transport can do the same job & cost half the price to buy plenty will with their own money. We will see in 10 years time which ones are still desirable as a keeper or as a used car. They make more sense for Companies / Fleets than a PHEV IMO if the drivers are doing some miles.
  3. I have no idea why people automatically turn it off when you can just do it if the location / junctions means you might need to. But then that is when there is an Automatic / DSG , Autohold & e-Brake. I drove with Stop / Start for 3 years and 44,000 miles. Did the car no harm and it was good for those that live in the Grid Lock areas. But then it was a suitable battery for a TDI.
  4. @P100HP Is your company sticking it out getting PHEV's then? What sort of mileage a day do you do, and are you going to charge at home and get paid or at work?
  5. The only public charging i have paid for recently is the 35 pence a kWh & getting 20 kWh in 30 minutes, so £7.00. Getting 3 miles per kWh that is 60 miles for £7. That is OK. I got only 2.7 miles per kWh for the last £7 of charging so that was 54 miles from that. OK as well as far as i am concerned. Paying 52 pence a kWh or more is just a no no really. 20 x 52 = £10.40 69 pence x 20 kWh £13.80.
  6. Sorry but no idea as i said, i am Mutt & Jeff. Good to see there are the armoured plug leads, at least that was done. Looks like an engine that has been power washed a few times in its life. ? What was it in the service book that looked good? When were the Spark Plugs last replaced? @Posthuman If you gave some idea what country you are in then that helps when you ask anyone about the cost of things. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/344005-12tsi-cam-chain-problem/page/8
  7. That will be a Liz Truss Tribute edition with increased maximum speed. There needs to be like a VED Band introduced for EV's sold / registered in the UK. More expensive if they exceed such and such a performance level 0-60 or 70 mph but can not do so efficiently. The UK can introduce an' Efficiency test where in UK average temperatures an EV loaded to revenue weight @ their Maximum Allowable UK speed they must be able to achieve at least 3.5 miles per kWh.
  8. Maybe yet another game changer if they get built and imported into the UK in the numbers to suit demand.
  9. By next Wednesday there will be a new Chancellor or the Exchequer or the same one still in place, and a new Secretary of State for Transport, & a Energy & Business Minister, so maybe no Emergency Budget, but there is a Budget coming and another next year so lots might change and before April 2023. Overnight with EV Grants things changed this year and almost overnight VAT rates can change and much more like Business Users and vehicles / charging and taxes. Business wants changes and remember that among Boris's main donors & supporters are ones heavily involved in EV Subscriptions, and also in Green Hydrogen & vehicles / plant etc. His father happens to own JCB.
  10. @Luckypants It would be good if people used ZapMap & PlugShare and put in if chargers are working or not as a service to others, or bothered reporting issues to CPS / SWARCO when they are not. There is a function on the App to send a message. It only takes a few minutes with ZapMap / PlugShare when at a charger to let others know the condition, speed etc. Also to let them know of chargers they do not show on their apps. This is a Scottish Charging Hub thread and it is nice when it can be positive experience like your experiences & most if not nearly all of mine. (I do lots of charging @ CPS chargers since i need to at least every 135 miles and only do public charging and 15,000 miles a year.) But the issue is when it is not positive with CPS / SWARCO & there are no alternative charging options. Like at the one Rapid Charger available @ Girvan, the one that they would rather it finally died. (Luckily the new charger 6 miles away has been reliable.) The 2 AC / 7 kw chargers next to the Rapid might or might not work, often not. ** This might be the last charger people can use when going for a Ferry to Ireland as the next one is most often out of service. So it can be the first one they get to coming off a ferry. This is on the South West Coastal 300. That was being promoted as a route for EV's by Tourist chiefs.** The Big Charger has had the AC cable broken for months and just needs a new cable. I report it every week and am told the inspection is due in the next week. Today they said last week. Either South Ayrshire Council are not paying for it, or the Inspection promised every month is not being done and the maintenance person has no new part with them. Memories of when it worked and if needing to just top the battery right up you could use the AC and let others get on the DC and charge.
  11. Mk3 Fabia batteries in Europe / UK are as cheap as Skoda CZ could get away with fitting. Premature Death by cold, death by heat, death by use, death by lack of use. Death by Chocolate just about. A Consumable rather too soon, so not that environmentally friendly / green, just Green Washing and good for WLTP Certification & RDE2 results. Like ECO tyres, OK if giving good efficiency and longevity, but if they provide crap winter performance or even wet weather performance and need replaced with better tyres for the cars use that are money and resources wasted.
  12. @lol-lolThe Charging is free. Good Charging around Kilmarknock. Some of the best in Scotland. BUT, Council, Roads, Utilities, NHS, Home Carers etc etc. have EV's. So lots of vehicles needing charging. Problem is at Break Time, Lunch Time they might just go charging to meet up. Often if they are just topping up they will let you on if they are with the cars. Others leave cars for hours and hours and head off. So they plug into the 7 kW. Some plug into the 50 kW and still bog off all day. Then there are Hybrids charging @ 3.6 kW plugged in for hours to the 7 kW and the drivers bog off leaving the car. Picked up by others. eg, Mitsubishi @ VW Hybrid drivers,,,,,, PITA. .................... At Stirling Park & Ride there are plenty Council Vehicles Charging on the 7 kW chargers and there 'Long Time Mister' 'All NIght Long ***** *****'' Total PITA when some muppet driver parks one up for hours on 1 of the only 4 50 kW Chargers. Usually the older ABB outside one. Especially if any of the 3 New e-Volt chargers are playing up. As in not starting. Dead slow and cutting out, or Hogged by the greedy. The Rapid Speed there can be pathetic when they are available and charging. EDIT. Doh i see i was ranting on that on the day last week.... eg. Last week & Stirling Park & Ride with a low battery at start of charge. ....................... When the Council Vehicles are parked in the spaces available for plenty of vehicles there is no issues. Just a pity there are not at the site a few 100 / 100 + charger that you can pay to use.
  13. Well the Oil & Filter will come up because of when last done & if on Fixed or Variable Servicing. So was that 1 year , 9,400 miles or 2 years, 18,000 -20,000 miles ago. **Servicing should be Servicing & Maintenance / Preventative Maintenance, Pre Winter, and should include Body Inspections for the Corrosion Warranty.** Not just Engine OIl & Filter Changes. That is an OIl Service. *** Haldex oil change and cleaning is important.*** Servicing will be depending on what has been done before and what is due or recommended. That will be Inspections and reports if you just get a Service. You have Haldex so that is due each 3 years / 30,000 miles for a Service. Pollen / Cabin Filter each 2 years. Brake Fluid was @ 3 years then each 2, so when was that changed or checked. Air Filter each 6 years, it should be checked each year and changed when needed. So location location location and how used and how much checking you do yourself. Bottom Menu was how Dealerships were up to 2020 on Interim & Major Servicing, 2021 Skoda UK changed to the Oil & Inspection Services & Extended Scope. You only get extra stuff done like Haldex, Water Pump / Cam Belt, Brake Fluid. Fuel Filter, Pollen or Air Filter by paying for that. *Get brales Serviced.* Dealer Servicing might not have the wheels off for many years.
  14. When there is lovely warm weather between November & March which can happen when winter formulation with anti waxing is sold at the filling stations you get just as good fuel consumption if not better. No extra warming up time with a diesel then. (It gets delivered mid October in Scotland and i have seen an improvement from filling up with the first winter diesel deliveries when it is still hot weather in October.) The Ukraine War has made no difference with Road Fuels / Derv, it will not have a higher Cetane, Diesel from Grangemouth where it was refined is distributed around Scotland and the North of England. .............. OT but petrol also comes in Winter Formulation as well. Then with E5 in the UK what the formulation might well depend on where is is getting sold.
  15. & a Basic New Fabia in the UK is really pretty basic which is nice, just a pity they could not be £5,000 cheaper than they are now.
  16. I think anyplace in the world the VW Group vehicles are supposed to be able to have the engine start with your foot on the brake pedal and the car not move. (But then you are supposed to be able to park the car with the Parking Brake applied and the car not roll away at some point.) People do still turn the front wheels into the kerb in places around the world if they have a manual gearbox.
  17. 80 kWh worth of a charge at some public chargers is already @ £55 or more. We will see in 3 or 4 years time what that will be in the UK. As it is in the UK it might be double that next year. If this Skoda was to get 4 miles for a kWh that would be 320 miles from 80 kWh. Here he is saying 600 km / 373 miles. if it has a usable 89 kWh battery that is 4.2 miles per kWh it can get. We will see. Maybe time for more efficient EV's and not ones taking up road space when on the move or parked at the road side. Charge them a Road Tax for the amount of seats a car has that are unoccupied. ...................... Skoda would do well to tell those that have waited over 1 year for their new cars just when they might actually get them and they can get them with the standard or optional equipment they expected to get when ordering them. Getting more deliveries of the New Fabia Mk4 before actually bringing out an EV replacement would be Simply Clever. http://autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/358698/new-entry-level-skoda-electric-suv-match-fabias-price-tag From £17,800 for a All New 4th Generation Fabia in the UK.
  18. Just check the plate on the drivers side B pillar. Then you will know the weights and if the car an tow legally.
  19. Best check your vehicle. Lots of people will buy cars that they have no idea can not be used for towing by the law. Manufacturers might not 'Approve' all vehicles to have a Towing Capacity' so they can not tow, like Mk1 & Mk2 Fabia vRS. Like certain Kodiaq's and Octavias recently, and like the 1.6 TDI Manual Karoq if it does not have a plate with the weights. Some might fit a tow bar for a bike rack, but that is a Grey Area. Towing with a car not Approved to have a towbar fitted is an issue with your insurance. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/429261-dont-buy-a-201718-150ps-4wd-man-7-seat-if-you-tow
  20. Looks like a 7 seater that can not carry much belongings for 7 people even if only 4 are full size people / possibly adults and the other 3 are small.
  21. @wyx087 A BP Pulse diesel van arrived. The driver told me they are getting Range Extender vans. I said i hoped he gets one with 22 kWh AC charging unless the BP Pulse Chargers he uses are more reliable than the ones i have tried. He had been at a nearby 'Improved & Extended Park & Ride hub' checking serial numbers, i asked if the Rapid Chargers were now operational. No they are lit up and not actually on the CPS system yet. Seemingly undergoing final testing or whatever it is that has them often lit up for months and none opperational. Today at Edinburgh Airport when i arrived there were 2 with 'Out of Service Lights on. Next to the van. I pulled out the emergency stop and held out for 20 seconds and they reset. The 2 available chargers would not start with CPS card, Debit or Credit Card or CPS app. They never answered the phone, the calls were just ended after 5 rings. The 2 cars charging had required the owners to mess about but eventually started. I tried these but they showed as Occupied so i eventually got through on the phone to CPS and 40 minutes after arriving got 20 kWh of a charge. Enough to get me home but as it was i went to a proper charger, flashed the card, got up to 90% for free and got home 15 miles later with 92%. 30 Minutes on a 50 kW Charger is just not enough for many, and it is all good and well coming off and moving to an available charger and getting maybe 15 mins more or even 30, but not if chargers are not starting for you or others. .................................. Stirling Park & Ride is really quite busy much of the time now and the 4 Rapid chargers, 1 old and 3 new are triple head. There are more parking on the 22 kW chargers but that are cars with only 7 kW AC in the main, there are some though with 11 or 22 kW AC onboard. Older ABB Chargers can be a mystery but e-Volt ones and there placement can just be hopeless. ................................ The Mercedes Driver in the Picture above did not know about the 30 Minutes and was about 50 minutes on the charger so there will be a £30 penalty coming his way. He had parked and charged on there just after i had reset that charger and was trying to get on one myself further up the line. There are 4 22 kW chargers up past the Transformer allowing 3 hours charge time.
  22. @fsec Is your car a manual, and if so is it plated to tow anything, braked or un-braked. If your low trailer without the need for lights is towed on the road that might well be when you would get stopped with a trailer attached that the car is not approved to have on. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/452358-karoq
  23. Well one reason is they might want to sell the car, the other is their hearing might not be great. Another can be because they put in thicker oil to shut up a noisy car. That would be someone like me that might do that, there are plenty about like that. The 1.2 TSI Euro 5 Engines are 4 cylinder, they come with different power outputs. If it shows annual services Minor & Major then fine enough, it would be good if the brake fluid shows as having been changed a couple of times, or you might get that done.
  24. @akon Could you just make clear please. Are you parked with the Parking Brake on and starting the engine with your foot also on the brake pedal, or no parking brake on when starting because you do not trust them in winter? PS. there is a post about VOSA, that is the DVSA, Police officers etc. That is for the UK. ? Which country are you in?
  25. Edinburgh Park & Ride and somehow parkers just think this is not a bay for the charger and it gets occupied ICE'd
