Semi conductors
http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-61779614 So the HGV Drivers are striking in South Korea. Not in looks, just as in industrial actions. They have targetted Semiconductor production. http://www.cnbc.com/2022/06/10/south-korean-trucker-strike-plans-to-block-shipments-of-materials-for-semiconductors.html

Thoughts on this Superb 280?
Nice. You will not miss it in a car park. First thing then is the Full Service History. Is that a History of Serviced at Main Dealers or anyplace to the Manufacturers Service Recommendations or even Schedule. So the Haldex was done at 30,000 miles / 3 years and the DSG at 40,000 miles. Spark Plugs been replaced? The Brake fluid maybe done at 3 years or now 5 years. ............................... Re RAC 6 Month Warranty. Check T&C's, for what you get, and what if you extend that. Check just what the Max Claim on that actually is.

Can you ever fall in love with an EV the same way that people 'traditionally' have loved their petrol and diesel cars?
I would love if someone gave me this unloved car for free and i would keep it for ever until someone offered me a deal i could not refuse. It is not a 'Barn Find' if it was being moved occasionally. Good to know they are like other battery powered stuff and do not leave the batteries in and just forget and expect them to be OK when you go back. (I wish i could find the watch in my house that bleeps occasionally and has done for years now.)

Tyre Wear - Karoq Sportline 1.5 tsi 2020
Just see what the Master Tech says then. Not the Service Manager or anyone else with no training in Motor Engineering. How Henry's different places have been with others is in the reviews for South and North. Maybe recently they have improved. Not looked in the Dealers Section recently. Maybe Arnold Clarks have by a miracle changed for the better. Luck of the draw who you get looking at your car. Best of luck. If they do well remember and tell others. http://briskoda.net/forums/forum/55-skoda-dealers-scotland

Snow White has a Skoda Superb as her daily driver.

Stage one remap for a 2 ltr diesel
VW had enough trouble getting the emissions low enough on a rolling road test with Euro 5 TDI,s and needed defeat devices. Then they had to get Euro 6 results on a rolling road. Then had the WLTP / RDE coming and needed to go SCR,/ AdBlue. If a simple mapping change in 2016 was all that was needed to make a 2.0 TDI 150 ps perform better and get certificated they might have just asked APR / REVO / Superchips / Quantum etc to help them out.

Karoq or Superb
It was TWO men that could be fitted in the boot at ONCE. That was obviously not the boot full as it will take more than TWO.

Tyre Wear - Karoq Sportline 1.5 tsi 2020
If someone at Hendrys really gives a toss about a customers 2 year old car with the outer edges wearing then they must be new employees there.

Yeti 1.2 - still leaking oil
@ausbinny Is the Oil Filter seal OK with yours and no leak there and the sump plug OK with no leak? You need to look and see where the oil is coming from. ? When was the car last serviced or maybe oil added? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/476599-oil-leak-after-servicing-car-at-skoda-dealership Does your Yeti have a DSG? Is it not that leaking oil if you have?

Tyre Wear - Karoq Sportline 1.5 tsi 2020
Just maybe get the Alignment set before fitting new tyres and do not buy like for like. Basically they are not the best of tyres. Have you had the same before in that size?

You have some cracking roundabouts in your area. Maybe how you attack them might have something to do with the wear.

Cam belt or chain?
@simonb82 VW are showing the PHEV Servicing at 9,000 miles not even the 9,300 miles they usually show and the 9,400 Skoda do for Fixed Oil & Filter Changes. Skoda Main Dealer Service desks seem to still be confused but it should be 9,000 miles. But then some might use their PHEV and seldom or never run the engine and some will run them and seldom or never plug them in and charge them. 15,000 mile / Annual OIl & Inspection servicing would be perfectly fine with a 2.0 TSI.

A Golf GTE would have been fine being a hybrid, just not a great towing capacity. An e-Golf is a different thing.

Cam belt or chain?
@simonb82 If you are do higher miles and are used to doing Variable / Flexible oil and filter changes remember the 1.4 iV gets Fixed Service Interval Oil & Filter changes.

I loved and cherished many a vehicle and had good times with them. Eventually as time goes by they become a worry, people scratch or ding them, birds crap on them and when they finally go they are a memory. Once you have false teeth and a stomach that prefers no meat then the bacon might still smell as good and also taste good but might lose it's attraction.

2022 F1
Just the start of watching the highlights on poverty TV / Channel 4 is a joy compared to the usual presentation. Just to the point from 2 knowledgeable people. Not missing 3 or more of the ones that are usually there bumping their gums. A Scotsman, a Welshman & an Englishman and the occasional Irishman.

Michelin PS5s
Pilot Sport can be a nice tyre and the likes of a Primacy can be a pure ditch finder tyre that manufacturers fit because they might be a fuel saver due to lack of friction / grip / traction. I hope Primacy 4 + are better than the Primacy 4 so liked by Manufacturers of EV's and Hybrids as OEM fitment.

IMO there is nothing extra special about driving an ICE vehicle for just getting about no matter how nice it is when you have to keep to UK national speed limits IMO. The only benefit is with them is that you can quickly fill with fuel and get on your way. That only concerns those doing hundreds of miles where there are a crappy choice of chargers and you have a crappy EV like i have when it comes to range.

Spare Wheel for SE
Sounds like a good price. Size is fine for a temporary spare but you still need to reduce your speed if fitted with an odd one out tyre / tread / compound and wheel. If your boot was full and you needed to fit the spare you would be putting in the spare tyre well the wheel that came off so as well to have a full size spare carried.

EV real world range and cost to charge
The sound of car with a nice engine noise accelerating away is wonderful but if it is only up to 65 or even 70 mph because it is drawing attention to itself then so be it. There are lots of nice quick cars about just trundling along. Also lots of ones making a lot of noise and not going anyplace very quickly.

the truth about electric cars
It is a crime the amount of Local Authorities and NHS / Social Work etc in Scotland with thousands of EV's in car parks doing nothing and going no place. There are ones used obviously but far too many doing nothing other than costing tax payers. There will be similar i expect in England.

Tyre Wear - Karoq Sportline 1.5 tsi 2020
@Pappasmurf Welcome to the forum. Who will you be using Henrys or Arnold Clark or AN Other? Neither will be doing a Hunter Alignment check or able to be coming to much of a conclusion on the tyre wear you have. Hitting potholes is not the only reason that alignment or tracking can be out, they can be that way from the factory, or from speed bumps or climbing kerbs etc. The first 400 miles the car did might just be where the issues comes from. 'Never raced or rallied or driven by the person actually owning the car'. Maybe best having a qualified person doing an Alignment check and adjustment. That is someone with all the gear and more than ideas.

the truth about electric cars
@lol-lol I love free charging and will spend an hour in a day getting it on a 7kW if it suits me and move to let others charge but later in the week i have 500 plus miles to do in 24 hours and then maybe another 100 plus at the weekend so even free 50 kW charging will be too much hassle and i will pay whatever to get a reliable 50-100 kW charger then back to 'much cheapness again next week. Just strange behaviour i find at not only at my Local Tesco but at other Supermarkets. I was tempted to ask the guy when he came back, 'WTF' but you know sometimes that there is no point, you know the answer by looking at them. This month so far is 800 miles at no cost with CPS and PodPoint at Tesco. (That is the luck of faulty CPS chargers actually giving a charge and not registering the usage and nothing billed.)

EV real world range and cost to charge
Funnily even a early Leaf over a decade old can easily do 33 miles and even a return 33 miles on a single charge. But then there are people's real life experiences and they might do what they do. Plenty are driving about in old Leafs or old Zoe,s and doing just fine. 2012 the real range was said to be 72 miles but then cold and using heating could maybe even make that optimistic. I might still not get 100 miles from a 45 kW battery in cold weather in a 2020 EV and plenty other manufacturers cars are worse than that. Capped Electric price just now might be more like 28 pence a kWh until later this year. So those 'Average 20 mile a day' people can charge at supermarkets, park and rides etc just the same as those with a car with a bigger battery and not need to charge at home every day. Maybe every 3rd day on a public charger will be fine.

1.5 DSG MPG horrific
ACT / Cylinder deactivation COD if it is an AUDI is fine in a Kodiaq because to work you have to be off the accelerator so rolling along, going down hill etc. So the weight of a Kodiaq helps with that. Just like Coasting it takes a driver using the system effectively. Roads do go down and not just up.
