Two services for £79
PS Is this the car that you were not sure if it was a 1.0TSI.? They must have knocked £5 off the price because it only needed 3 spark plugs!

Two services for £79
@MATT1 When were your Spark Plugs last changed? 2 x Oil & Filter Services and free safety inspection and reports and any updates, if you got that is 'Much Cheapness'. If you did not ask for Spark Plugs and do not think changing them was Simply Clever then get your money back.

Build Times for new Karoq
When there is something to be said then surely a Factory Insider will leak to Auto Express, just as the Media Department usually do. 'Insider = Media Department'. Or any Press Release will go to Autocar the chosen ones for UK stories from VW.

VRS 220 Petrol - Which oil?
That is fine. But £14 would have got a 2 litres of 5w 30 FS IIJ to VW 504 / 507. Tesco / Asda or others.

New to DSG, am i right...
Gasoline particulate filters are fitted. The WLTP is supposed to be World Harmonised testing for economy / emissions but much of the world could not care what the EU introduced as a flawed way if testing cars in the real world. The RDE was testing emissions so partly fuel use / consumption and easily cheated so now there is the RDE2 and manufacturer's have to actually get the lower emissions so also economy and real lower emissions and less cheating. But being as it is there is always room to cheat.

Off Peak electric in the UK can be as low as 5 pence a kWh. Even if charging at 17- 20 pence a kWh that is OK if a kWh takes you say 3.5 miles. 8kWh x 18 pence £1.44. 8 x 3.5 miles 28 miles. That is for less than a litre of petrol. We will see how long the price of Electric stays low, but then the price of Petrol or Diesel is not staying as it is now.

Sounds OK then if that is stopped in P or N with Parking Brake on. Or sitting foot on brake pedal and ready to go. Maybe just keeping a health GPF which they need to do. VW Group have had to mess about and get things wrong and having 1.5TSI's with bad behaviour to gt the WLTP / RDE results and now the RDE2 ones. If raising the tick over speed has stopped there being kangerooing issues then maybe that was all it required. Then again i expect fuelling / engine management changes have been made elsewhere than just at tick over.

Electric vehicles and charging
A Briskoda member has a good Youtube vid of him doing a trip in his Enyaq and in it he is charging at the Charging Hub local to me. Today and yesterday and many days there is 1 of the Rapids actually starting charging. Various cars coming and going and failing to get a charge, and getting no answer from CPS / Swarco at there new call centre. This is the nonsense that many are experiencing at CPS Public Chargers in Scotland sadly. I have reported faults when ever i find them and now get replies from CPS / SWARCO, sadly there are still the faults what ever they might say. **The White Nissan Leaf you see charging @ Forfar on the AC charger is back on since the vid & still there today blocking that bay. Just as well they are seldom used and that bay is often blocked anyway by a Renault Kangoo that parks for weeks on end. ** I was calling CPS / Swarco this morning as i charged on a AC charger to let others get on the one Rapid working. In the hour i was there several drivers failed to get a charge, called CPS / SWARCO to get the charger started and got no reply so no charge on the rapids. The phone reception is so poor at the hub as is using the App to see what chargers there are and to get a charge started. Using your Debit / Credit card instead of the CPS card makes no difference and now the chargers are saying not authorised when people use a card to get authorisation. The charging is still free this month, but that is no excuse for such an unreliable service.

Absolutely they are a con that UK tax payers are helping to fund in many cases. This is why the Grant was scrapped. Mitsubishi Plug ins are a total disgrace and so are many other big fat inefficient hybrids currently on sale. Batteries are being reused and have 2nd and 3rd lives after being used in EV,s. Everything will eventually be economically recycled. If they are stored back in the ground where the materials first came from there are smart people maybe not yet born that will achieve marvelous things. Driving a Hybrid might give you as clue about public charging and the crazy differences but really not that much other than how various conditions affect power usage and getting efficient use of electricity that has to be generated someplace and currently that is expensive generation.

VRS 220 Petrol - Which oil?
Surely not at that price per litre. £25 for 5 litres is enough. ASDA will have oil produced by a proper oil producer for that or less. Correct spec.

EV sub £30k comparison group tests.
I loved my IQ, but the tailgating was unreal and i was going to end up having a heart attack. The thing was that on twisty roads those that had been sitting up your jacksy when getting along at the speed limit could usually not stay with you. In towns or at junctions etc just an amazing turning circle.

EV sub £30k comparison group tests.
I had a bubble car when i was 15 year old. Never again.

I was just checking my driving license yesterday to see the expiry dates / classes and when points are due to come off. Due to my disability my Motor Cycle entitlement has been limited to a Tricycle. Also there is the Quad Class. Maybe in another few years that will be all i do ride / drive. Hopefully there will be more proper EV's that are Smart Car or Toyota iQ cars around. An iQ EV would be rather good IMO. Car / bigger vehicle Restrictions is Automatics.

VRS 220 Petrol - Which oil?
Not really. Super Markets, Motor Factors and Filling Stations and Dealerships and Online sellers sell Engine Oil to VW 504 / 507. Not expensive really, and you can use VW502 00 spec if you want. Castrol need not come into it as just another brand that VW had a deal with as they do with tyres manufacturers, they go where they get stuff cheapest. ................. VW 508 00 / 509 00 as VW went with when needing to get the WLTP / RDE & now RDE2 figures can be a crazy price, and can confuse matters not only for customers but Main Dealer Employees that know little about engines or oils if they work front of house.

Electric cars will be recycled in exactly the way ICE vehicles are and the batteries will be recycled and the materials recycled. The UK Government know that Plug in Hybrids are a con if they have near no range on electric and many that got and get the Grants and the Tax breaks as Business Users were not charging cars and were still using liquid fuel, and had a higher fuel consumption driving a heavier cars. @ERIK99Did you not realise you were joining in the kidology when getting a plug in hybrid which required rare materials for the battery it has? Are you a business user getting a tax break to drive this low emission car which really is not low emissions on longer journeys?

VRS 220 Petrol - Which oil?
The VW504 00 / 507 00 is the recommended oil for the pre WLTP vehicles and is usually 5w 30 FS III (IN THE UK) & at Dealers it will often be used for Fixed or Variable Service Intervals. VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS can be used with a pre WLTP TSI for FIXED OIL & FILTER SERVICE INTERVALS . Perfect oil, not substandard, and NOT long life. This can be good if you want a long lived TSI. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/476057-vag-independent-uses-fusch-oils http://volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-drivers/servicing/service-plans/service-schedules.html

What should the car have in the boot?
Are there not wheel bolt covers on and one is slightly larger covering the locking one. No plastic tweezer there for removing the covers?

I think Opie Oils shows the right element for a Reaction 60 ps. http://opieoils.co.uk

Lane assist is dangerous
That is perfect. Anyone that was in the Tufty Club and driving before the Green Cross Code man was on the telly should be required to do that again but out on a main street.
-
Lane assist is dangerous
Everyone able bodied enough should be required to do a training course and an examination on public roads riding a push bike before even getting to become a learner driver.

Water retention in doors
The issue is brand new and nearly new cars and poor quality control and the seals fitted on the production line. If cleaning drain holes is a General care and maintenance job for owners then there will be as section in the owners manual. If a periodic requirement then that can be another 'option' main dealers can offer with services or they could include in Extended Scope.

Cost of brake replacements
@RodDuggan What are you doing and what has any local independent quoted if you got a quote? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/498084-rear-brakes

Disappointed in off road performance
@Sargan how many miles had your car done? Be aware of the rear diff. Many do not have the oil changed in the diff for a long time. 100,000 miles maybe. With a Launch vehicle that is getting reversed into water you need to think about this. People do it with Land Rovers which do not have extended axle breathers and other 4x4,s and can be surprised how a diff is in a short period of time. Preventative servicing and maintenance can save on big bills.

Rear Brakes
@Sargan are you going to be giving the rear discs and pads an inspection yourself? There will be people getting cars serviced or in for warranty work and getting advisories on the likes of brakes. They might see a car in stock they fancy and take the great trade in price offered. If they see the car they trade in in a few weeks waiting for a new owner there is a high possibility it has the same discs and pads on as when traded in. More motoring mags need to do more Mystery shopping / servicing.
