  1. I am really surprised that you need to enable this function every time you get into the car. It should be a persistent option. I would recommend turning down the brightness of the display. Standard OEM settings are way too high - I have mine set to 40-50% brightness (as opposed to standard 80%), so give this a go first. Failing that, I would suggest that we bring @pab567 to see whether he can suggest any way of reducing display brightness and making the screen switch off after 10 secs - a persistent setting.
  2. Hello there, Did you forget to install the ferrite core next to wrap around the 5V DC USB feed to the Nextbase Camera? If you don't do that, there will be electrical interference which will knacker up DAB. Thanks Max
  3. It all depends on if your car is a Saloon or Estate (combi). The Saloon models have known issues with the rear nozzles getting blocked up. You can take off the cap to the rear nozzle and gently and patiently remove the jet and soak it in some vinegar and get out the grit. In terms of the front jet nozzle - this is harder to clear. I haven't done one of these before, so revert to other members for suggestions. Could I ask if your washer tank has the appropriate gauze insert at the top of it? If not, you need this to capture all of the tut from falling into the tank. What screenwash do you use? It is worth also putting in more contentrated screenwash if you are in a hardwater area.
  4. I modified the thread - too many replying to different subjects, but I have corrected my original posting.
  5. Its effects all MK3's from 2013 to 2020. Its completely random which type of header tank you get, although VAG have issued new revised capsules in the bottom of the latest gen of cars, ALL owners should be checking to see if the Silica bag is in existance. As a straw poll: Octavia TSI1.0 - no silica bag Octavia TDI2.0 VRS - Silica bag - single skinned Octavia TSI2.0 VRS - Silica Bag - double skinned (tank replaced) Octavia TDI 2.0 Scout - Silica Bag - single skinned Fabia 1.0TSI - no silica bag Its a bit random to say the least.
  6. Great - couldn't recommend them highly enough. Very good quality although they are a sod to remove the old ones and reinsert (you need plastic trim removal tools, knowledge that they only come out in one direction, because there is a load of plastic to the left/right hand side of the reflector).
  7. Skoda like all EU countries use water based paints - and frankly they are rubbish. I don't think you'll get much luck with trying to claim under Skoda 12 year paint warranty, but its worth a try. Does seem a bit sandblasted. Depending on how careful you are, you can mask off all the areas around the light and paintwork, lightly sand it down with a fine grit sandpaper (to get a keying surface) and then paint carefully with a rattle can.
  8. As the next generation of MK3 ownership continues, this issue is going to become more urgent. I removed a silica bag just as it was about to split on my 2017 VRS TDI and I was lucky. To all owners who have not checked, please do and remove if your car is a single skinned tank.
  9. Hello there, I am assuming that your car is a pre-facelift car (<2017). If so, the issue will be the first "warning" that your water pump is about to fail. It is a known issue on all pre-facelift models. If your coolant is cold, then this tell me there is no movement in the cooling system. Dealer attention urgently reqd. If it is a 2018 or later, then either there is a coolant blockage; an air lock in the cooling system or most potential concerning is split silicate bag in the header tank which is causing chaos in the cooling system and the system will need fflushing. Can you photo the state of your coolant header tank? Finally consider a failing thermostat.
  10. That is quite a different problem. This is a failure of the Capacitive Screen that is used on unit. You need a new screen unless there is a TPI associated with that problem.
  11. Good evening everyone. In regards to Skoda Connect, it all depends on a couple of things. First, you need to pay the 42ukp (about 50eur) for the Infortainment license for your Amundsen or Columbus system. This will give Traffic Info, Weather and News Services. You will need the SOS physical button to use Care Connect which gives you tracking and live system diagnosis to Skoda HQ in CZ (another £42). Next, you will need to either get a CarStick (a GSM/4G modem for the USB socket) or set up a tethering hotspot (via Menu->Settings->WiFi) to your phone. Then you will need to add your car to Skoda Connect. It will ask for your VIN number (scan it using the camera or manually enter it), and then Skoda Connect/MySkoda will ask for a 6 digit PIN number from the MIB system (Menu->Settings->Skoda Connect->Registration). Type this in and after 5 or so mins, the car and MIB will sync up. To get Skoda Connect to give you the necessary service, you must maintain a data connection via either the CarStick or via the mobile phone data tether. Data usage is typically less than 2G of data a month.
  12. There is a mod that can be done via VCDS that automatically enables BST: Controller 5F - Infotainment 10 - Adaptations Summertime-automatic - Set to EUROPE Then go into Car-> Settings -> Time and Date - and Enable Automatic Daylight Saving
  13. Hey there. An enormous thank you to @SashaGrace for all her hard work yesterday. I can confirm that Vibration does work (especially useful if you are hooning up the M6 and loose concentration because you are pressing buttons on your MIB system). Sash....always a pleasure.
  14. If it has been enabled, it is in Media->Settings->Sound
  15. If you look for VCDS options for Skoda Surround or Virtual Surround (you'll find this info on @SashaGrace Octavia VRS thread, you will find the info there. Skoda Surround is 5F Byte 11 change to Hex 04 and reset MIB system.
  16. Its 2021 and we are still doing power resets like Windows 3.1!
  17. Okay - you will need to find somebody with VCDS in your local area. If you follow the thread: there is a known process of encoding in your new battery that any owner of VCDS can help you with (hopefully for Beer money). http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Battery_Replacement
  18. Yes; good okay - so that should be fine for the 0478 firmware. To finally confirm. what is the part number of your MIB system? You will need to engage with @pab567 who can hopefully help with the appropriate firmware links.
  19. That's quite a specific issue - it all depends on what firmware version you are on at the moment - and which SOP version you are running on. SOP3.x I think is 0365, SOP4.x is 0478 [even though I have seen a 0490, but think this is for specific cars].
  20. Guys - you need to speak with @pab567 for firmware - who can hopefully help.
  21. Not needed - two things to fix the MIB system: 1) Get the latest firmware version for your Amunsden system - sound from 0468/0472 is weak and poor. 0478 fixes this. 2) Enable up Skoda Surround (and Virtual Base) (to be done after a 0478 update)
  22. Assume you have looked on the https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/ to check out if there is a new firmware update for your unit?? You will also find updated maps in there too.
