  1. The versions of the MK3's with Emergency call function - IMHO - were always slightly buggy. West End Skoda patched my previously owned dark grey VRS with new firmware on the EMC system to make it less buggy (speak to Ewan).
  2. I can confirm that VCDS definitely DOES do it....unless you happen to own no non-genuine version of the software; in which case you might be given short-thrift here on Briskoda.
  3. Nope - it becomes less noisy, but it still clonks and bangs away if you listen for it.
  4. One thing I've learnt about VAG engines - they are SUPER picky when it comes to the oil they take. I might suggest that you drain the oil and just put back in the standard longlife genuine VW 507 rated oil into the car along with a new filter. Appreciate why you put in that stuff, but IMHO - oil improvers on VAG engines - a big no no. Without sounding too worried about this, I suggest that a couple of things might have happened: 1) Long journey kicked off a full re-gen of the DPF. 2) The smoke might be the Liquid Molly cleaning out the carbon and dirt out of the car, but the smoke might also that stuff being burnt inside the DPF/Cat (which is bad news). 3) Do you have auto stop-start? Did the car stall (i.e. it said, press clutch to restart or call stalled message on the maxidot display) or did it just activate the stop/start and stop the engine? Yes, all VAG cars definitely do not like being not used. Low battery issues and all kinds of issues will flag themselves up.
  5. It would be helpful if you can post up some images of the issue.....
  6. Try and use filtered water [not hardwater] or proper screenwash. You can if you are adventurous take off the jet spray part and soak it in hot water to dislodge the dirt in the jet nozzle.
  7. It could be a worn dual-mass or thrust bearing.....Well done for good servicing. Make sure that you need 504 / 507 oil which these days is generally a 0W30 longlife oil.
  8. oh dear - that is bad luck. The seals fail eventually, but this is not bad to fix. You will need a new master or slave cylinder (depending on which one has failed) and a brake fluid change too. Typically fluid change every three years.
  9. Its generally age and/or mileage based. The failures are caused by constant heat/cooling cycles and this is why they fail after a certain period. I would do them personally every 5 years if driven mileage is low or every three years if driven mileage is high.
  10. Hey folks, Some almost brand new tyres for sale. OEM spec Dunlop Sportmax tyres 225/40 ZR18. Turns out these tyres are quite new as they have a date stamp of week 16 2023. We picked up the car when it had 12200 and the tyres were taken off today at 15100 miles. Very little wear on them. Still has 5-6mm of tread. No repairs, no damage. Price for Briskoda members only - 4 tyres for £150 plus P&P. P&P could be extremely high (about £50) so prefer buyer collects from Scottish Borders (near Berwick). Would definitely suit a VRS as tyres are more sports car orientated. Tyres will be cleaned up prior to buyer collects or postage. Thanks Max
  11. Well, it depends on the servicing schedule. If you go to the MIB / car radio, and go to Car/Vehicle and go to Settings, you will find Service Information in there. It will tell you when the car is scheduled it's next service. I would recommend oil/filter every 10k miles or 12 months and a major service every 20k miles. As it's 5 years old, it's due a coolant change (and make sure you remove the silicone bag of death out of the header tank), check it's had an HVAC service too and I think you are probably due a brake fluid change too at 5 years.
  12. Easy fix. You see the sensors in the ceiling next to the courtesy lights....they get dust in them. Get a hoover and GENTLY hoover out the dust.
  13. Tricky this one: VAG replaced the 5W30 standard with the 0W30 standard and it all depends on the oil change standard you are using as well. I always try to stick with what the current latest thinking is for either the 504 (petrol) or 507 (diesel) standard is.
  14. Okay - we are missing some info here. I'm assuming you have a Columbus MIB2.5 system installed in your car?? If you have a Amunsden system, then you have the wrong files.
  15. Use Fuse 47 for the Rear wiper. That is a switched accessory and therefore - your camera will turn off after the ignition has been turned off.
  16. One thing that is really important. Keep the catch lubricated and also try to lubricate the catch wire going back to the pull handle if you can.
  17. Realignment process is needed. I saw a realignment card on here and I think it can be realigned using VCDS if I remember right (will look at it later)
  18. I would suggest that the pot (aka the dial turn switch) might have some dirt in it that is causing the system not to register the fan speed position. Try some contact cleaner (and clean up any excess) in the dial and see if that improves the situation.
  19. Have a look in the Parts for Sale section of the forum.
  20. There is a thread here that might assist you: https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/7898/
  21. We really need a proper scan of the car via ODBEleven or VCDS to assist further. You can owners of those devices elsewhere on the forum.
  22. I used one of the AAWireless boxes (https://www.aawireless.io/) on my 2019 Scout which had a Columbus system in it. Worked just fine.
  23. Whilst the cars are essentially the same as a VW Golf, there are areas that Skoda cheapened out the build with. Lower quality sound deadening is one of them (you can retrofit the additional sound deadening if necessary). The Golf and the Octavia do drive very differently (I know this as I currently own both models).
  24. If you want to ask about firmware updates, this thread is not the place. Go look for the appropriate Amundsen or Bolero threads and ask for their help there.
  25. Don't suggest VRS suspension. You might want to look at the more off-road biased 'Scout' raised suspension.
