  1. You might want to take this problem to the main part of the MK3 Octavia Forum. This thread is for firmware updates to Amunsden MIB units.
  2. No - what this means is that you have to take the headlight out of the car (not a five minute job on a MK3), then take the headlight unit apart to get at the motor. The drive motor (from when I had my 2016 Scout with AFS) - had the module on the outside of the headlamp unit, but it is a mass of electronics that need to be split apart - carefully.
  3. Oh - I know what's happened here. Skoda released a version of the owners manual - split into two for MY16/17 cars - which had all the Infortainment stuff split into another book - which invariably got lost. They fixed that for MY18 cars onwards.
  4. Eyk...Agreed with @cheezemonkhai - you need a good bottle of 504/507 grade oil. Either 0W-30 or 5W-30 should be fine. I would clarify with the mechanic that he will *replace* the sump, not just repair the crack with a chemical sealant. The wording sounded vague. If you don't feel happy with him, them I would seek other alternatives. A quick google has shown up about 5 or 6 VAG specialists in London. @automass do you have breakdown cover? If so, they should be able to take it to your nearest VAG specialist or Skoda dealer. A sump itself is not hard to replace; it just the part and some time. The whole job should on the outside take 2hrs.
  5. The key part can be cut anywhere.....the encoding part has to be done at the dealer.
  6. Any further news on this?? How are you getting on with sourcing a replacement?
  7. Yes - an extra 15mm on standard ride height. Off-Road mode (with hill-decent) can actually be enabled by purchasing that function from a dealer using a FeC code. The P7's are great tyres, but useless when it gets colder than 7C. You need the WinterZotto tyres which are just epic.
  8. @automass DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR ANY FURTHER until it is looked at by an engineer. If you have hit something it may well be there is damage to the sump. That amount of loss of oil is a large amount of damage.
  9. Well, strictly - and under certain parameters, you can actually GET a Scout spec car in the UK. The Scout was always an SE-L with extra options bolted on, but the Scout (from the Fabia Scout, the Octavia Scout, the Superb Scout and Kodiak Scout) all share the top end specification for folk for want to be a bit more adventury and not do the whole VRS thing. In the build your own car on skoda.co.uk (I am so going to be banned from here talking about MK4's).... you can select Rough Road Package....however, there is no Scout extra plastic body protective trims as on the European version. 😞
  10. Yes; if you have a car from 2015/2016, then you will need to pay a dealer to enable up SmartLink on your system. It is worth it. Ask them to do a firmware upgrade to your MIB at the same time.
  11. Well, it actually depends on how desperate you are for a MK4 Scout. Dealers in CZ will accept orders for Right Hand Drive Octavia's (and Scouts) to your specification, but you will have to have deep pockets (45k Euros plus) and pay the import duty.
  12. Yes - there are many threads on how to do this.
  13. You need to upgrade to SOP2.x version 0253 as a minimum. Speak to @pab567 for firmware updates.
  14. I tend to use solar panel chargers that plug into the ODB port - for keeping the battery topped up.
  15. Word of warning to the wise - be careful. These one click 'app' type options don't work for every car and I've seen/heard info that Carista can screw things up. ODBEleven can also do the same, you just have to be careful. It is still worth making a backup of all your car settings before you change ANYTHING - and then you can reset things if it all goes wrong. I still maintain that manual coding is best - sorry.
  16. From various posting on Briskoda, I seem to remember you have to remove the inner boot lining to get at the solenoid. However, as it is not completely dead, you might be lucky with some DRY lubricant on the throw bolt, but I suspect that you have an intermittent electrical connection on the windings of the solanoid coil which will ultimately fail. The part is available at Horton Skoda - https://www.theskodashop.co.uk/products/skoda-fuel-flap-actuator There is a very long thread on how to fix it; similar setup to the Yeti in some respects:
  17. @PetrolDave I suspect the answer is a bit more nuanced. On my 2019 Octavia Scout, I upgraded the internal footwell lighting to LED lights that @SashaGrace sold to me. Having done that, the CANBUS network came up and complained about a mismatch of configuration and that the lights were not as configured. Changing them from Halogen to LED fixed that issue. In terms of the rear boot lights, again you have to be careful. If you choose cheap Chinese rubbish lights, then CANBUS will throw an error. The better LED lights with in-build resistors are far better (such as the Kopacek ones) won't throw any errors. I suspect that if you have a non-facelifted car (2013-2017), there is less monitored. For Facelifted cars, there are more circuits monitored.
  18. Interior courtesy lights are not monitored but under dash, rear boot lights and door lights are all monitored by CANBUS.
  19. @TimWhit - before you go and hit the parts-canon, please get a read of the CANBUS using ODBEleven Pro or VCDS. This will tell you if it is that fault or whether it is something else. Wouldn't like you to waste your money unnecessarily.
  20. Oh; make sure you haven't been locked out for 10 mins.....you really need VCDS or ODBEleven Pro for this. If you enter in the wrong code (and there could be up to three different combinations for your car), it will freeze you out and not allow you to change the values. If it isn't accepting codes, ignition on for 10 mins (do not start the car) and let the lock-out timer expire.
  21. No - the head unit located in the glove compartment has the integrated amplifier built-in. The only exception to that rule is if you have a Canton external amplifer. I suspect that if your built is from factory and its a Bolero, this will be unlikely. It will require a new head unit and for this new head unit to be coded into the car. I would recommend upgrading to either a MIB2 unit; it will require VCDS to read the current install and for those values to be put onto the new MIB unit.
  22. Our neighbours Glow Plugs failed at almost the exact same mileage. Consider this normal. You do need a special glow-plug removal tool. Try something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403130832983
  23. Okay, so it looks like you have a MIB 1 Bolero unit for your 2013 car. Is that right? It sounds like the amplifier has gone south....sorry. It does happen. The earlier Harmin units were less reliable. Speak with @pab567 and see what your options are.
