  1. Easy peasy to replace. With a set of spuggers, a T15 and a little patience, its easy to fix it. Roughly: 1) Move mirror to extreme most right hand side position and use spuggers to get behind the glass and push out the glass. Disconnect heater / auto dimming connectors if you have them. 2) Use a small screwdriver to (carefully) unclip the rear shell (top and right hand side of mirror). Unclip the shell and put it to one side. 3) Undo the two torque screw and put them to one side. 4) Carefully unclip the bottom of the shell casing. 5) You should now have access to the repeater indicator. The gotcha on the mirrors is that the clips holding the top shell and bottom part of the shell are very tight and are prone to snapping off if you aren't careful (aged plastic and all that jazz). Why not go and treat yourself to some clear "audi" style direction indicators from Kopacek https://www.kopacek.com/skoda/octavia-iii/octavia-iii-fantastic-mirror-side-marker-in-audi-dynamic-style-clear-version. You might also want to upgrade your mirror puddle lights from them too if fitted: https://www.kopacek.com/skoda/octavia-iii/octavia-iii-2017-facelift-mega-power-led-mirror-downlight-ki-r (2017 Facelift version) https://www.kopacek.com/skoda/octavia-iii/octavia-iii-mega-power-led-mirror-downlight-ki-r 2013-2017 version
  2. Assuming the vehicle is a TDI 2.0 with 185bhp. Glow plugs do fail (over 100k miles) usually and ideally they should all be replaced. We won't honestly know until you get your vehicle code scanned and get us the fault codes.
  3. If the recirculation flap motor has failed, it will throw a code....can you get a code scan done for us pls?
  4. Switch OFF the soundikator. You can do this via ODBELEVEN dongle
  5. Dear all, On my MY20 L&K, I've just spent out on a DSG gearbox oil change and filter change. Car runs with a DQ381-7F. The vehicle has done 19k; ever since we pick up the car it's had a whine (which we thought was an aux belt and dry bearings), but I wanted to say that in-fact, this turns out to have been the DSG pump complaining through lack of fluid. Other symptoms included; hard to change into gear (especially when gearbox was cold) e.g. change from Park into Reverse. Car was always reluctant to get going. Never happy to get moving quickly. Gearbox in sports mode was always problematic (high revs, not a lot of go). Downshifting was also jurky. The signifier (and this why you should ALWAYS have an ODBELEVEN dongle to hand) is that when I looked at the pressures on the gearbox when moving forward, requested pressure was at 25 bar; actual pressure was never any higher than 14 or 15 bar. In other words the pump could not deliver the pressure needed or requested. One gearbox fluid and filter change later, I have a TRANSFORMED car. Gear selection is now faultless and you now cannot even feel the gear changes. Had to pay for the fluid change myself, but trying to claim it back on my Skoda used-car warranty (not holding out much hope as it's a poor quality insurance and has LOADS of exclusions). My recommendation is that if you have a MY19 or MY20 Octavia with a DQ381-7F or DQ381-7A gearbox and it doesn't seem to drive correctly (either excessive slippage or just get moving forward properly), it's a high chance that the factory didn't fill up the gearbox fluid properly. For me...the 315ukp for this service is a lot of money but it's cheaper than a new gearbox/mechatronics unit
  6. This is a big red flag to me. Why would you not change the tensioner at the same time as the cambelt? That's just asking for trouble.
  7. Scouts run with 10mm ABOVE standard ride height. VRS's run with 10mm BELOW standard ride height. They each have their own suspension setup and the suspension/dampers for the Scout are bespoke to that model.
  8. No...a rear parking camera is connected to the back of the MIB system. The MIB system ties in the camera and the Park Assist system.
  9. Yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean they have replaced the correct part.
  10. You now find this functionality on the MIB system.
  11. In answer to the OP, they are marginally more comfortable. I think the seats from a MK3.5 FL model are better (quality) that the MK3 seats but as JR stated...it's probably wear and tear. My recommendations are one of two options. 1) Find a good car upholsterer in your area and leave the car with them for a couple of days to improve the seats for you. 2) Find a good (scrapped) MK3.5 set of seats and swap them across.
  12. When you have the genuine towbar installed, there are two parts to this. Firstly is the preparation stage. This fits modules (like the towbar module) to the car and adds in all the wiring to the loom to make towing a reality. The second part is the fitting of the tow bar and the coding to make this happen. What happens (and what I think has happened here) is that only the first stage has been done. You need to have the second stage performed by a Skoda dealer to complete the installation. The towbar module itself won't stop the park assist system (and in fact it's there to assist with the park assist system) but if your park assist system is not working then it's either going to be a wiring issue or a coding issue.
  13. What's the code scan say? Unlikely to be the sensor and the connecting wire....more lightly and electrical fault.
  14. Apologies, I cannot see the video. It's not working. Yes, calipers could be loose, but I cannot see that. Knocking around the suspension area is usually associated with the strut tops though and I suggested you look there as its a known weak point.
  15. On a TSI engine, it all depends on driving style in all honesty. My (rarer) spec TSI 190 engine Octavia L&K gets 52mpg on a long run with super unleaded. On the various TSI VRS models I've owned, Ive had between 38-44mpg which is about book value.
  16. Suggest you put out a shout on the VCDS thread asking for peeps who can assist in London and Home Counties areas.
  17. Yes, you do need to tell the car it has a new battery. Where are you based? I'm sure there is somebody near you with the appropriate kit.
  18. I would check the strut tops. They are known to wear and knock. Check the mounts themselves, make sure there is no wear or corrosion. It's a weak point on the Octavia.
  19. It strikes me that there are two possibilities here. 1) state of the battery. Not enough Ah or CCA capacity in the battery will cause starting problems. 2) distance the car travels. If you are using the cat for short journeys, then please take the vehicle on a long and fast journey and allow the car to do a full regen. You can also get the car to do a forced regen to zero out the soot levels if needed. Yes, glow plugs will start failing after 100k miles and need replacing (all 4 at a time ideally) Any chance of a full code scan as opposed to a partial scan?
  20. You can also do it in ODBELEVEN too. The battery needs to be coded in (unless your car is an early MK3 with no stop/start).
  21. It will be on the V5 registration form. There should be markings on the toe ball. If it's a genuine VAG part there will be a VAG part number on it. Otherwise it will be a third party installation. Just go with the weight of the rack plus two bikes. If it exceeds 75kgs then it will probably be too much. More to do with the vertical damping and suspension ability more than anything else.
  22. You are right....I've deleted my posting. Sorry...was thinking about a different setup. Yes, MIB1 systems are no longer updated. However what I will say is that it is usually (relatively easy) to upgrade from an MIB1 to an MIB2 system (with larger screen). The OP can contact @pab567 who can assist with that if they wish.
  23. It's easy to switch it off. You just need an ODBELEVEN dongle with the VAG software and switch off the soundikator.
  24. It's then probable that we would go with the maximum weight for bicycles on top of a roof rack on an Octavia which is 75kgs.
