Discs& disc pads
Then let me enlighten you… For me, it’s about capability, confidence, trust, value and rapport. If I get enough of each of those largely subjective values then that is the workshop I will use. At this time it happens to be the dealer from which I bought my Škoda; other dealers (not only Śkoda) and many local independent workshops come up lacking in one or more of those things I look for. Could get find an independent workshop that rates more highly overall? Probably, if I took the time and risk to find out. But I’ve lived in the area for 40+ years and experience has been underwhelming to say the least. So, being content with the dealer I’m continuing with them - until, that is, I have a need to look elsewhere, such as changing brand of car.

Brake pad wear sensor triggered after 24k km / 15k miles
Lots of heavy traffic and steep hills... 🤣 I'd suspect a faulty sensor. By contrast, at the last inspection the dealer reported that my pads in my car were approx 50% worn; it had done about 55k miles at that time.

Driving Score in MySkoda App
What I find interesting (or perhaps that should be concerning) is that on opening the updated app the Driving Score is showing not only the current period but any change since the previous one. So, previous versions of the app were also collecting the data. Why, for example, would the App need to know if a driver was speeding to show fuel economy, location, etc.? Unless I am mistaken that is collection and storing of information, linked to an individual, without having a relevant requirement.

Driving Score in MySkoda App
Thanks very much, but… Seems I can’t turn it off ‘cos all I get is this No doubt one of the ‘joys’ of an early build car ☹️

Driving Score in MySkoda App
Just seen this update myself; the App Store entry includes this... And the App Privacy is fairly vague placing User Content in the "Data Linked to You" section. Can't see anywhere to arrange car insurance so I assume the feature is not [yet] available in UK. Couldn't see anything on the Škoda website about what they do with the driving score data. Just found this... https://www.skoda-auto.com/connectivity/driving-score

Stop start thoughts
Yes, turning the steering wheel will restart the engine, presumably in anticipation of a manoeuvre.
-
Stop start thoughts
Yes, that happens in the manual ‘box cars too. It uses the radar and I guess the car assumes you’re about to move forward. As @vfr says, with a DSG and ACC enabled it uses will move forward and/or stop by itself making traffic jams much less tiring.

Stop start thoughts
Fair enough, but it'd be good to know the rationale behind your decision to disable stop/start. Maybe I/we have missed something.

Stop start thoughts
I now only notice the stop/start when it doesn’t activate (e.g. with cold engine or heavy electrical load). My current and previous 2 cars fitted with it so nearly 200k miles and no issues with it whatsoever (one diesel, two petrol). The cars have manual transmission, so at junctions it’s easy to keep the engine running by keeping my foot on the clutch should I feel the need. The engine always restarts quickly so I’ve never felt the stop/start interfering with my driving. In the early days I thought that the repeated restarting would use more fuel so did some internet searches; found an article on a research paper which reckons that if the engine is off for 7 seconds or more there is a fuel saving as well as reduced emissions. Sadly I have lost the link to that paper. The batteries have held up well. Current car is 4.5 yrs old with 58k miles and I know that my previous car, now 11yrs old with 125+k miles are on their original batteries. Both are petrol.

Servicing Clock Transport Mode
Welcome to the forums - and your new VRS. Hope you enjoy it. I reckon the service timing should be set at the PDI which should occur just before deliver and registration. The first MOT should be on [third] anniversary of registration date. Worth a chat with the dealer and get them to reset the service and inspection interval in the car. AIUI, should only take a few minutes.

Sat-Nav Maps Latest Version?
Mine still has maps dated 25.1, so January. S/W version is 1941 which means it’s not to do with your s/w update. I previous years I seem to recall a May release of mapping; we’ll see…

Authenticator Apps ???
The Authenticator App is just a code generator; codes specific to the account you need to log in to and time - they refresh every 30 seconds. Typically set up in the app using a QR Code or other identifier provided by the account requiring the use of the codes. The App does not need to be on the same device (but could be) because they are login specific not device specific. I use the one on my iPhone to login to accounts when using my MacBook. The Authenticator App has its own password to access the codes, or could be biometrics (e.g. fingerprint or face recognition).

Finally it's gone
Shame yours has left a bit of a sour taste, as it were. But it’s interesting how our experiences with a car over time can colour our opinions of the model or brand. My 70 plate 1.5 tsi SEL FE, which I bought at 6 months old, was very much a roller coaster of emotions for the first year of my ownership. Within a month Škoda UK asked me to return it to the dealer for diagnostics - got back 5 months later (a similar, but SE FE, loan car was faultless). Since then, and 58,000 miles later, I’d say this car is one of the best I have ever had. Yes, a few s/ware niggles since but overall a great car. Spacious, economical, plenty quick enough, comfortable, reliable. Dealer is excellent too. Would I buy another? Yep!

open the vehicle from the rear doors
In my 2020 Mk4 there are ‘Convenience’ settings which can be used to set preferences for the central locking. I assume there are simian the later face-lifted models too.

Authenticator Apps ???
AIUI, all authenticator apps will work fine.

Authenticator Apps ???
I use the Microsoft Authenticator app on my iPhone; it is also iPad compatible. I assume there are Android versions for it too. Works well and has minimal impact on my device. As for privacy, any authenticator app will need to know a certain amount of stuff to be able to do their thing. It's what the company collects that is the worrying bit and I distrust Microsoft less than I do Google hence my choice of app. My rationale being the Microsoft primarily make their money from selling software, whereas with Google its primarily by selling information about us punters to advertisers.

Discount on Skoda Service Plans
IIRC, Škoda have similar offers three times a year. Springtime (March-ish), late summer (August-ish) and Black Friday.

Standard LED headlights startup level check
Indeed I am. The standard LEDs on my 2020 build don't do anything other turn on and off automatically - which I have set to the max sensitivity and thankfully every time I think I should make sure the headlights are on, they already are. 👍

Poor perfomance Vents when A/C is enabled
The air flow through the vents on mine can be really quite slow at times, usually when the cabin is up to temperature (or down to it on sunny days like today). To be honest I’ve been very impressed with the AC in mine; manages the airflow very effectively. Only niggle I have is a whining noise from the AC compressor. Are you sure there’s a problem with yours? If you haven’t already, try raising or lowering the temperature to max or min and see if the flow rate increases.

Rattle, Octavia iv Phev
Welcome to the forums. I’ve also got a rattle in an area similar to that which you describe. Part of me thinks it might be in the steering wheel, on the right side of the central boss - but I can’t be sure. Have asked a passenger if they could locate it but alas not - without leaning over to a position which would become dangerous on the road. Thankfully most major roads are smooth enough not to trigger the rattle, and those that are not have dreadful road noise anyway (e.g. concrete section of M25).

Ice to Enyaq iv
Thanks for kicking off this thread. Similar to you I have been (still am) waiting to find the tipping point for when an EV becomes the way to go for me. Part of my challenge is most of my mileage is on long journeys (e.g. European road trips and aged parents 280 miles away) and thankfully I have the luxury of no longer having a daily commute. I do need a big boot though, hence the current Octavia Estate. Your miles/kWh figures are useful, thanks. It'll help me estimate potential costs should I take the leap. Will be interesting to see how much the hotter summer weather and use of AirCon impacts the figures in the Enyaq IV. The comparisons with your Mondeo are very different to my scenario - over 50k miles I have average in excess of 57mpg in my petrol Octavia, which at current prices works out at 11.8p/mile vs. 7.2 (your Enyaq IV) or 17.6 (you Mondeo). Off peak energy tariffs clearly have a big impact on EV running costs. Interesting comment from @Luckypants regarding short [winter] journeys and the need to re-heat the car for each impacting power consumption. Guess similar would apply in the summer with AirCon. Lots of variables to consider when doing the sums! And I'm yet to look at serving costs and I've heard that tyre wear tends to be higher for an EV - presumably the extra weight and/or more power & torque from standstill compared to ICE cars). Looking forward to seeing more updates in due course.

Standard LED headlights startup level check
Mine doesn’t do a level check.
