I had to get my dealer to verify I was the owner of the vehicle and in some way approve my Škoda ID to become the man user. I guess it's to do with the privacy laws because as the main user can track the vehicle through the app. Perhaps the same applies in your location.

Other half's 67 plate CitiGo shows sign of the battery is getting 'tired' and I reckon it could do with a swap before the winter sets in. The car does not have the Stop/Start trickery. So, a numpty question. Would I be right in assuming this is a simple DIY job (I have done very little with a car in the last 20 years 🙄) or will it need [VCDS] coding and/or radio re-enabling etc. Thanks.

In theory a route can be planned in the app and sent to the car satnav system. However, it isn’t available on the early builds such as my 2020 SEL First Edition - despite it being splattered over the brochure 🙄

Yep, systems seem more reliable in mainland Europe; my first trip in my 2020 SEL FE was in April ’22 on a much earlier version. All was fine - ‘till I got back on the M20 when the ACC thought I was still on the Autoroute des Anglais. Now on 1941 and only the occasional glitch with ACC in UK.

Hmm… damned frustrating! Interesting. Mine streams music etc fine (but I don’t use Waze) when on CarPlay, so I guess it is using Bluetooth only. Must remember to check when Mrs Steve gets back…

Could try restarting the app &/or phone; if that fails try a reset of the app (or remove and reinstall it).

Take a look at this thread - It’s about v1969 but on the first page has reference to 1941 too. Note that any DIY update would be at your own risk.

The usb-c port is in the side of the mirror ‘base’, on the right hand side (drivers in UK). A short cable (~30cm) is available on Amazon but the ones I got were about 5mm too short for my NextBase. In the end I gave up and use a longer one and a zip tie to hold the excess neatly in place. BTW, I have the dashcam on the passenger side away from the port.

Looking nice, very nice! Must admit I have never cleaned the engine bay of any car I’ve owned - and that’s nearly 50 years of motoring. Yours does look good though, maybe I should start… I like the boot sill protector too, a lot smarter and more reliable than a bit of cloth I use when loading heavy stuff.

Fair point. I was comparing the BIK on 1.5tsi vs 1.4IV at 28% vs 6% (old brochure from when I bought mine). How that compares to loss of interest on £x,000 or interest on a loan/PCP is an ever changing equation…

That’s useful information, thank you. Confirms my calculations that for me a 1.4 IV isn’t financially viable (I’m not in the privileged position of company car and BIK). I’m getting about 590 miles from a tankful in my 1.5tsi estate. To reach 640 I’d need less than an additional gallon, so let’s say £6 worth at current pricing, less about £3 to charge the battery in an IV, meaning each 640 mile stint costs me £3 more. Given the initial purchase price difference the maths don’t stack up - and that’s without the costs of increased frequency of oil changes. When it comes to the environmental considerations I can’t see how, for me and those with similar journey patterns, an IV is any less bad.

Couple of things come to mind... Check you are using the same user in the car. Every now and then mine does what I assume is some sort of cold reboot and I come back in as the Guest User - with none of my favourites etc showing. Changing user to my own login gets me back to where I was. Software version of the Infotainment system. Some earlier versions would lose favourites and history from time to time and no way of getting them back. Ideally you v.1941 or v.1969. As it's out of warranty I am not sure how your local dealer will deal with a request to update it, may include it with a service. However, there is a DIY option (at your own risk). The pinned thread in this forum has details of DIY updating to 1969.

On my trip to France earlier this month I was surprised how many charging points there were, and most with available bays. No idea of the cost per kWh though as mine is the 1.5 tsi estate. I calculated that an iV wasn’t worth it from a cost point of view. More expensive initial cost, very short battery range, and mediocre mpg on petrol. The majority of my mileage is long journeys on which I’m getting 55 - 60 mpg (Plymouth to Winchester (coastal route not the dreaded A303) the other day was 60.8). A run to the supermarket of three or four miles will be about 40 - 45 mpg unless there is horrendous traffic (which I usually avoid). Your usage pattern may be sufficiently different to alter the equation but don’t rule out the 1.5tsi just yet. My aforementioned trip to France (Provence), 12 days and ~1850 miles, worked out at over 55 mpg with the cruise control at 130kph wherever legal (four adults, the boot rammed, and aircon at full tilt as it was well over 30C most days).

Welcome to Briskoda and pleased to hear you like your Octavia. They are indeed nice cars. I’ve never attempted the sort of DIY job you’re thinking of, but my guess is that the wiring is likely to be there, and yes, folding of mirrors would need coding in. Perhaps the guys at @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits (sponsors of this site) could advise and I’m sure they’d be able to do the job for you - at a cost of course. In the meantime, enjoy the car…

Yes, an 'imbalance' detector. Prior to changing them, the old tyres they were pumped up for a full load, with TPMS set accordingly. The new tyres are inflated to 'normal' load so the rears were 10psi less. Whilst I was initially frustrated that I couldn't reset the TPMS system/alert on the way home from the tyre depot, it does make a lot of sense for the system to be such that you have to stop and switch off - at least it creates the opportunity/impression that the driver has checked the tyres before resetting it.

I've just had a set of four new tyres, forgot to reset the TPMS (passive) before leaving the depot - and the inevitable warning showed up after a mile or so. Was unable to reset whilst driving, not even when stationary at the traffic lights. It was only after parking up at home turning off then the ignition back on could I reset the TPMS (whilst stationary). So, both disagree and agree...
