Crikey! I'm all in favour of strong passwords, TFA, etc but that seems a bit OTT to change a set of disk pads. Guessing it must be to do with the overall capability of ODIS type systems.

If you have the standard LED headlights as I do, then no, there is no automatic adjustment. That is, I believe, only available with Matrix headlights (or Full LED headlights as described in my car manual). I have used the Eurolights deflectors on mine but they are a real fiddle to get in the right place. Last but one trip I noticed that they were not doing the job - moved them down no more than 4mm and were fine. Snag is, they fell off the next day cos the glue had lost the stickiness - and I didn't get of photo of them in the right place 🙄. I just lowered the beam height instead so as not to dazzle oncoming traffic.

Also, IIRC, the mileage is displayed briefly in the Virtual Cockpit (behind the steering wheel) after turning off the engine.

I've had my 1.5 SEL FE Estate for over 3 years now and yes, it can feel a bit floaty at times. I've put it down to the suspension compensating for high tyre pressures; the recommended pressures are a lot higher than on my previous Škodas (2012 Mk2 Octavia, 2014 Mk2 Superb) - I might be wrong in my assumption here. Not noticed any dive to the right over bumps at high speed but I did read, in another thread, of a number of cases where nearside shock absorbers were a bit iffy. Sadly I can't find that thread at the mo but could be worth getting your shocks checked out.

Version 1969 refers to the software version of the Infotainment system. Since launch, Mk4 Octavias have had issues with the system. 1969 is the latest; 1941 was the version that stabilised a whole load of stuff, notable repeated reboots of the system after starting the car. Do you need to do anything? Arguably, only if you have issues with your car; and then, if under [extended?] warranty still, ideally get your dealer to update it and check for other updates whilst they're at it.

The SW could be updated to 1941 or later without the SOS module - but not all cars have had that issue. I guess there was a dodgy batch of units that got installed in some cars whilst good units got built in to others on a parallel build track. Mine has hardware H56 and is fine, performance of the Infotainment system is good too, was notably/frustratingly slow early on, seems the Škoda code writers found a way of streamlining it. Make sure that all this tech stuff is covered by the warranty, which IIRC it will be with an Škoda Approved Used vehicle - but you'd best check rather than take my word for it.

Yes, there are fixes for the issues in earlier cars, I've lost count of the number of hardware and software updates mine has had! But as @PoloPaul mentions after the update to SW 1941 all is good. The version prior to that had some issues (repeated reboots of the infotainment system); other than that mine has been fine for quite a while. The challenge is making sure that ALL the possible updates are applied to the particular vehicle you're interested in. Building good rapport with the local dealer Service Dept is useful essential in this regard. I got very close to the point of rejecting mine but it was the rapport with the service dept that helped me through - and I'm very pleased I stuck with it. It's a very practical, comfortable and economic car. I love it. There are others here in the Mk4 forum with recent cars which don't have the issues of earlier builds - other than needing the update to SW1941. Thus I reckon you can be confident the car will be fine subject to the updates being applied.

Prior to update to 1941 (dealer, last July) the Infotainment System in mine would reboot several times each time I started a journey. I'm a CarPlay user so wasn't only an AA issue. Thankfully, since 1941 no problems.

Must admit I expect it will become law but I doubt it will make any difference. What is needed is better enforcement of current laws - driving dangerously, irresponsibly, drunk, etc is just that whether you're a new driver or not.

The TPI applied to my petrol SEL 1st Edition - and even after 3 years of ownership I remain confused about IV, iV and Mk4 🙄

If you can try recording a video of the symptoms and share it with the dealer, that way that have evidence to justify warranty work which might help.

Sounds like the Home Screen(s) have been reset, possibly due to an update of maybe a bit of a glitch in the user profile. Sometimes if the iPhone doesn't connect the CarPlay icon/app appears as SmartLink. Use that instead and reconnect the phone. If that's not the issue, the you should be able to edit the home screens, a long press should bring up the edit screens where you can add and remove elements, and create additional screens. CarPlay and/or SmartLink should be available in there. All that typed from memory, hopefully I got it close enough...

I've occasionally had one or other key lose its association with the seat memory; could well have been related to a major s/ware update but hasn't been for all big updates. As yet I haven't updated to 1969, its working happily on 1941.

I can only assume it’s Android specific, works fine on my iPhone. Is the web portal ok for your car/account? If so, perhaps reset the app or reinstall it.

I certainly agree the 20mph limit needed reverting on some (many?) of the roads. But what annoyed me was the reported rationale for changing back was [paraphrased] ‘it shows we are listening’. Never a mention of ‘we got it wrong’.

I had the rear roof lights turning themselves on and off, any time of day or night but only noticeable after dark; very distracting like you say. The solution was the dealer replaced the unit under warranty.

Yes, mine is on the 17” wheels; it was a dealer car I bought at 6 months after first registration. No extras over and above the first edition bits though☹️

Blimey, Y rated tyres are up to 186mph! My SE L FE came with a more realistic V rated tyres (149mph).

Have you tried connecting with a cable in the Octavia? What the car displays within CarPlay is determined by the software in the car infotainment system. It could be that some of the apps are no longer permitted (perhaps something like YouTube video) hence the Octavia doesn't show them whereas the older Fabia does. If all else fails, try posting on the Apple support community pages - https://discussions.apple.com/welcome You'll probably need to sign in with your Apple ID.

The loan SE First Edition I ran for five months (and 8k miles) in 2021 had a Swing unit. Zero issues. No idea on version numbers though, sorry.
