  1. Yeah, frustrating - big time! I'm pretty sure somewhere in the thread I linked above I mentioned the structure I use, and that works fine. If you can't find it let me know and I'll have a look on my USB stick and see how it's set up (I can't remember 🙄).
  2. If you have voice control give it a try, works well in my car (except for the satnav).
  3. Agreed. £179 to not have to flick a dip switch! Bonkers. IIRC, two years ago it was £97 and I refused to pay that much.
  4. Fair point, and I can see the "Bad Thing" logic - 'if I indicate I can pull out, regardless of traffic' is definitely an unwelcome [danergous?] trait in some drivers. Just that I commenting that to use the indicators is an alternative to the Lane Assist nudge experience.
  5. Agree, there is no need to indicate if there is no one there - but it's easier than turning off lane assist. And what harm does indicating do? Just a thought.
  6. Ouch! That hurts. I am not a lazy driver. I am actively using things like ACC; engaging it and disengaging it to suit road, traffic, gradient etc. It's a tool, bit like the accelerator pedal and brake pedal. I am a driving enthusiast who has embraced the technology to enhance my driving experience. I could equally say that the difference of opinion is down to those stubborn enough to think they are the perfect driver taught by an ex traffic cop. However to do so would be petty and insiulting so I won't. Oh, I just did 🙄 The difference of opinion, in my view, is down to the fact that we are all individuals who like to do things differently. Not necessarily right or wrong, not necessarily better or worse. Just different. I don't understand why the tools are not used and embraced. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
  7. Yes, there are limitations to the Lane Assist but they are learnt very quickly. On local roads the places where LA gives a nudge such as the one lane becoming three are quickly learnt too; just anticipate the LA nudge and steer/drive through it. As for moving to the right hand lane n a dual carriage way, what is wrong with using the indicator? I really do not understand why anyone would disable a very useful bit of technology just so they don't have to use an indicator stalk. 🤷‍♂️ Embrace the technology because it, and more, will be in every car we buy from now on.
  8. Yep. My late 2020 car had a few major issues early on. All fixed by late ‘21 and only the occasional niggle now - and certainly no worse than my two previous Škoda cars. Chatting to a mate last year - shocking s/ware issues in his Range Rover Evoque (Evoke? 🤷‍♂️). Mazda are not immune either. So I guess it’s similar for many brands as they adopt new technology and systems.
  9. I’d be very surprised if it didn’t have Smartlink. The loan SE First Edition I had a while back had it, and the brochure I have (dated 12/20) states that the SE & SE FE includes it. At the time the SE Technology had a separate brochure.
  10. Yeah the external water pressure will make it hard to open the doors even when unlocked. Guess the films exaggerate a bit to add a bit of drama.
  11. Interesting. I’m now trying to work out how it would prevent ’undertaking’ without lane assist. Presumably just the input side of LA to read the white lines. I’ll try to remember to have a fiddle next time I’m out in the car.
  12. Yeah, I think that can happen with ACC, depending on the road gradient even without a vehicle in front. Once or twice I recall mine repeatedly slightly accelerating and decelerating. This on a very gentle incline and seemed to me that the amount of throttle adjustment needed was less the smallest increment the system could make. Bit like early digital audio recordings sounding harsh compared to a smoother analogue recording. Over time systems improved and increments got finer.
  13. Quite possibly, though to be fair the Škoda satnav is pretty good in my experience. It has the advantage of not needing a mobile signal to load a map - useful in part of the Lake District and New Forest for example (other 3/4/5G dead spots are available 😂)
  14. Guess we’re all different; I use ACC a lot.
  15. I just typed the phrase ‘directory structure’ (without the ‘ ‘) and this was the third item listed. Not that hard!
  16. Speed limit signs show on my satnav and I do not have road sign recognition. Buried deep in the satnav settings you can [de]select various map and POI symbols (car park, fuel, etc).
  17. There is a thread somewhere on here which describes the usb stick format and directory structure for mp3 files, and IIRC, playlists too. If I come across it I’ll add a link; otherwise search the forum.
  18. The data plan is not needed unless you want to use the car as a WiFi hotspot as you drive around (wireless CarPlay still works without a data plan in the car). Care Connect and Infotainment Online are the main ones for things like map updates, Škoda App connectivity and stuff like that. The Smart Apps bundle are apps for the infotainment system so, for example the calendar app integrates with the built in satnav. Traffication improves the reporting of holdups etc from your vehicle thus enhancing the satnav routing. I tried early versions of calendar and traffication (free trials). Worked ok but painfully slow on my 2020 car. Later models have more powerful hardware and the apps are likely better optimised by now too.
  19. I’m pretty happy with the lane assist and no problem with the nudges. I turned off the steering wheel vibration though, and would like to turn off the bong too but last time I checked that wasn’t an option. I would take unnecessary nudges any day over an inadvertent/erroneous drift out of the lane. I do think there could be a UK ‘thing’ about it. I’m recently back from five weeks driving around France, anything from autoroute to minor single track roads. Far fewer nudges even though it was active a similar proportion of the time. The nudges seemed more gentle too. Nothing scientific in that, just a gut feel. I reckon Lane Assist is required for ACC so another reason not to disable it.
  20. A further thought. Push the importer (presumably Škoda Australia) for support. Whilst your contract of purchase was with the dealer, the importer is the link back to the factory and all their technical resources. It could be that they fund the loan car whilst the investigation goes on. That was the case with my car. Mine was one of several in the UK which had the infamous KPH/MPH issue for which there was no fix at the time. Škoda UK wanted vehicles for diagnosis, testing etc and mine was one of them; had a loan car from the dealer (whom Škoda UK recompensed) for 5 months and I covered 8500 miles in that time. I also got some compensation from Škoda UK. Hope you can get your car sorted (or maybe replaced).
  21. That’s too many errors. I reckon the dealer should, as a minimum, give you a loan car whilst they work with Škoda factory to trace a fix the problem (not just ‘think’ they’ve fixed it).
  22. Interestingly, when I had a Mk2 Superb, I had what I and others thought was wheel bearing noise. The Delaers' Master Technical came out on the road with me and said, yep, sounds like a wheel bearing. Took it in the workshop and found no bearing issues. A trip to my trusted tyre depot and they reckoned it was a tyre 'out of round'; took the wheel off and demo'd it. The tyres were a 30k miles old but with a reasonable amount of tread left. Anyway, new tyres fixed the noise. Shared the info with my future son-in-law as he was concerned about bearing noise. He needed new tyres and they sorted the noise too.
  23. I've recently spent 5 weeks in France, no reboot issues crossing the border. [Off topic - but interestingly the ACC thought I was still in France till I got to about Maidstone when it started working properly again.]
  24. But the eSIM is used for the SOS calling which doesn’t need a subscription. Like you, I wouldn’t want to pay just to set the clock, but the tech is there built in so why not use a common algorithm to improve the customer experience? Anyway, it seems that currently there is no way to automate setting timezone or DST. C’est la vie
