  1. OK, fair point. But the car has an eSIM so it is connected to the mobile network, that alone is sufficient to set time & DST - every smartphone does it.
  2. It was through the radio, with the old [now defunct?] Traffic Master info service which would give alerts of major holdups.
  3. Yes, Clock time is set to Automatic but it’s the Timezone and DST that are manually selected. Seems crazy to me when the car knows exactly where it is (GPS) and has an active internet connection that it can’t determine the correct time for that location.
  4. @marcusg at 50cm up from the floor the length is as close to 77cm as I can judge from the back of the backrest to the closed tailgate. Near in mind the tailgate is slightly curved so nearer the centre is longer. I think you might be in luck - definitely worth a trip to the dealer and giving it a try…
  5. Thanks. Thinking about it, what I am seeing is probably an initial boot up (rather than a 'resume' from sleep/standby) as it occurs mostly after being left for a while.
  6. Has anyone found a way to automatically set the timezone and/or daylight savings settings? I find frustrating that in a modern 'connected' car this is a manual process. Even my 1990s Cavalier updated itself for summertime.
  7. That's useful to know, thank you. I've been encouraging the family to use a VPN when out and about on public WiFi at least - but easy to leave it on when back on good ol' 4G and connecting to the car. Hopefully they'll sort it for AndroidAuto; thankfully I had no such issue with iOS and CarPlay but worth being aware of the potential. Back to 1941 update; mine sometimes reboots once when first starting the car (about one in three or four times) but the repeated reboots for the initial few minutes are gone.
  8. Hi, and welcome to the forums. Just nipped out with a tap measure... At 60cm high, the boot is not long enough for a 77cm pushchair. So, unless you fold the [split] rear seat backrest forward it won't fit longitudinally, maybe worth a fiddle at the local dealer showroom. Without the retractable luggage cover in place it would be fine with the pushchair across the width of the car with the dog in front or behind - an option maybe? As an alternative, a Superb Estate may do the trick.
  9. Well done getting to the bottom of that one! Just a thought, have you tried IFTTT (IF This Then That) to automate the charging?
  10. I like both the Graphite Grey and Brilliant Silver; though whilst the grey is more contemporary (in fashion) I reckon it will go out of fashion at some point (and maybe become less saleable). On the other hand, silver is timeless, but a bit ‘samey’. If I were to get one on a two or three year lease then it’d be the grey; whereas an outright purchase on my usual six-ish year cycle then silver.
  11. I had similar issues a while back, dealer replaced the SOS unit under warranty.
  12. A while back (18 months maybe?) there was a lot of discussion about the economy of the PHEV and other variants. IIRC someone was getting in the order of 80+mpg from their PHEV, I’m getting about 57 from my 1.5tsi manual. Driving style, journey mileage, motor vs rural vs urban, and traffic all play a part. I reckoned if I bought a PHEV it would take over ten years to recoup the additional upfront cost. I don’t do many short trips, most mileage is made up of journeys anything from 50 to 400 motorway miles. For about four months I drove a 1.0e-Tec which returned similar mpg to my own car. Performance was adequate, though could feel it when heavily loaded. A 1.5e-Tec would be better. Hope that helps a bit…
  13. ‘Fraid I’m getting bored now… Please can the interminable of who said what or who meant what about diesel and/or Li-ion get its own thread.
  14. Could be a corruption in your user profile. Maybe create a temporary user and try that.
  15. Never heard of an ibone, maybe they do need an app but for reference an iPhone has CarPlay built in to iOS.
  16. I’ve used wireless CarPlay successfully for over two years. No issues other than very early on when it wouldn’t auto-reconnect - fixed ages ago with an update to the car. It is worth noting that the car to iPhone connection is either CarPlay (Smartlink) or ‘traditional’ Bluetooth (where the car reads the contacts etc from the phone and effectively is the controller for the phone). With CarPlay, everything is done via the touchscreen or, preferably, using Siri. So, if your iPhone is connected with CarPlay then the Bluetooth Telephone connection will be unavailable.
  17. IIRC there is a setting to turn it off, buried deep in the menus. That is, to turn off the listen for ‘Hey Laura’ thing. Then just use the steering wheel button to activate it.
  18. How about using Siri? It works a treat with CarPlay but as you’re not a fan just set up the iPhone to respond and play via Bluetooth (or cable).
  19. I was curious… Take a look here
  20. Forgot to add; there was a similar thread about two years ago which may have more details of a solution.Try searching or browse for it.
  21. The variable boot floor has mouldings in the surrounds to support it so you’d need to source those as well as the floo itself. Bear in mind that the seat backrests don’t fold flat anyway so the ‘flat floor’ isnt achievable as it was in my earlier mk2 Octavia.
  22. The socket powers my Nextbase dashcam fine; the specification states it needs 1.5 amp.
  23. The SOS click/pop is a separate issue to the s/ware updates. My SEL FE had a replacement SOS unit about two years ago to solve that one. It's been updated by the dealer several times and now on 1941 and that solves the repeated restart issue and made the whole system more responsive. See if you can get the dealer to update yours too, hopefully still under warranty.
  24. Yep, Bosch A331H fits a treat
  25. Short answer: Yes. My preferred dealer (not my local one) is very good. I called them up, described the issue and they asked if I wanted a courtesy car, which I did. Was booked in for a few weeks on and when I went to drop it off was told by the very knowledgeable receptionist that "... you're not the only one." Also said that the technicians would need to check the VIN to ensure it was compatible. When I got it back, was updated to 1941 and not an unexpected reboot since - though there have been a few since with several OTA updates. All that was seven weeks ago.
