Vibration and Drone to Motorway Speeds - Audi A5 STronic DSG
Just had a thought about the noise & vibration - could it be the gearbox control unit not recognising it’s in top gear and repeatedly trying to change up? Not a mechanical problem but a s/ware or sensor issue maybe.

Frustrating or what!? Hope they sort it soon, or you find a suitable replacement…

Have they done the bearings yet? I’m curious as to what the vibrations are…

Key question...
Been there, done that - with a 1GB USB stick - years ago when they cost £100! Thankfully it still worked too. Anyway, as for the key, it will probably click back into place with a bit of pressure around the edge; tricky to do without pressing the buttons though.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Is this an option - buy the extended warranty without the All In ‘extras’ of services, MOTs and roadside assistance. You’d get to use up your current investment, and add in the warranty. Only miss out on the roadside assistance (which I think is AA). https://www.insurewithskoda.co.uk/extended-warranty/

HELP! WINDOWS OPEN
Yes, had it on my Mk2 as well. Very useful as you say. Can press and hold the lock button to close them too. As for the moron bit, I'll be one of them 🙄. I stuffed a key in one of those little 'security' pockets inside a rucksack along with wallet etc. only to find the windows opening just as I was about to head off on a 12 mile walk. Lucky I saw them opening.

Virtual cockpit Navi and dials together
It's not there in my 2020 build car, nor the loan car I had a couple of years back, but on the 2023 registered loan car I had last month this capability was alive and well. As @Alexsus mentions, it's only in the later build cars with later hardware. I know of no way to enable it on the older vehicles, will try to remember to ask my friendly dealer when I'm next there (taking the wife's CitiGo for service & MOT). I found the map with dials display to be too busy for my liking, preferring the minimal guidance information on the virtual cockpit with full map on the infotainment screen. The ability to change the central speedometer to other information is something I would like to have though.

What is the state of software in late 2023?
There is a fix. By that I mean that mine was fixed - almost exactly two years ago (3rd September 2021) after it had been at the dealers for 20 weeks! You may be aware of the long and at times acrimonious KPH/MPH thread in which this was discussed in painful detail. I posted details of the fix applied to my vehicle, which at the time, was a test (as in my car was the first in UK to get it applied). Link below. I was led to believe that the fix would be rolled out to all other early (SEL FE?) vehicles but it would appear not.

What is the state of software in late 2023?
@PoloPaul not sure if you can insist or not, sorry. I had prep'd a few [hyped up] arguments ahead of calling but didn't need them. Basically just told them I had the reboots up to four times and ACC issues - but I was ready with, for example, that the loss of satnav functionality in unfamiliar big city rush hour traffic was stressful/confusing/dangerous; after months of ACC working perfectly for it to suddenly and intermittently screw up again was dangerous. Pick a few errors from the list in the TPI and big 'em up if need be (see page 12 of the Infotainment continually restarting threat).

What is the state of software in late 2023?
A while back ACC was a nightmare, it was fixed through various updates by the dealer under warranty but then an OTA update caused the infotainment system to repeatedly restart. In my car that was the start of another round of ACC misbehaviour; almost as though the reboots caused the car to default back to driving on the right. Since the dealer updated it to v.1941 ACC has been perfect. Mine is a 2020 model which I’ve had for two and a half years - plenty of issues early on but I [just about] hung on till the fixes were developed and applied - so pleased I did! These are great cars, look good, comfortable, economical, spacious, and the 1.5tsi plenty quick enough for me. I guess the VRS would be pretty lively. It’s worth noting that s/ware issues are not unique to Škoda/VAG cars, I know people with Range Rovers, Volvos, BMWs and Mercs each with issues. So if the RS you’re looking at ticks all the other boxes then I’d suggest you go for it.

How to declutter map display, Columbus infotainment?

Voice commands and media
Catching up after a couple of busy days… Mine is a mid[ish]-2020 build, so a bit older than yours. Nice one! My folder structure is similar \\artistname\albumname\*.mp3 If folder structure is so critical to the voice control then it’d be good if it was specified somewhere in the manual. Once you get through the tedium of restructuring your folders the music will sound all the sweeter 😉

Voice commands and media
I’m not aware of any settings, tick boxes, etc for voice control.

Voice commands and media
I wonder if that’s a regional thing. I am able to use voice control for media, radio, heated seats, climate control and navigation (though the latter with limited success). Haven’t yet found a definitive list of what voice control can be used for, nor a guide to the syntax for navigation commands. Certainly works ok in my car for media though.

Voice commands and media
Mine is now on 1941, but it has worked like this since I've had the car when it was on something like 1668. WRT to 1941, worth checking through the list of fixes in the TPI - see page 12 of the thread Infotainment System Restating endlessly (hopefully the link will take you to the actual post).

Voice commands and media
This afternoon I asked mine to “play artistname” knowing the I had two subfolders under artistname, one for each of two albums. It played album1, in track order followed by album2, in track order. what I haven’t done is ask “play artistname albumname“. Will try to remember next time I’m out.

Mystery options in instrument display
I reckon there is a generational thing going on with the virtual cockpit, with later versions being more capable than the older one. For example, new-ish cars can display the built-in satnav map on the VC along with the usual dials, whereas mine can't, even with the latest software updates applied. In fact before the VC was replaced as part of the kph/mph fix two years ago, it couldn't even display the clock in the top centre. This afternoon I had a fiddle with CarPlay and various navigation apps... Apple Maps : display of turn directions in top centre of the VC and optionally in the centre of the speedometer or tachometer Google Maps : nothing on the VC at all Waze : nothing on the VC at all Built-in satnav : turn directions in top centre of the VC and optionally in the centre of the speedometer or tachometer

Voice commands and media
Works fine for me; I use something like “play dire straits” and it plays all the tracks in that folder and subfolders.

Whats the system called that automatically controls coasting etc
Good point, the ones I drove were the mild hybrid 1.0 e-tec versions but I forgot to mention that bit 🙄

Whats the system called that automatically controls coasting etc
No idea what the system is called, but from memory the coasting or braking behaviour can be dependant on how quickly you lift off the accelerator. Do it quickly, I reckon the car assumes you want to slow down; whereas doing it more gradually it thinks you're aiming to maintain speed. Having said that, I haven't driven an O4 DSG for about two years so may be mistaken...

VRS IV - putting in Park mode and handbrake
Whilst my car is a manual I’ve driven a couple of DSG mk4 Octavias over just shy of 9000miles. In both of those, turning off the engine automatically put the ‘box in P and applied the parking brake. I didn’t have to change any settings but I think there is one in there somewhere.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
That's poor service from your dealer to leave you with a car with such limited functionality. Put pressure on through Škoda UK (escalate it there if need be) to secure a loan vehicle for the duration of the fix. Mine was at the dealers for five months awaiting a fix to be developed, whilst I drove around in a loan car. Yes it was frustrating but the approach of the Dealer and Škoda UK made it acceptable and I felt I was treated pretty well.
