Is it not the virtual button just below the Microphone? I use CarPlay and there is something similar in that, so just a guess!

Massively frustrating for you. My 70 plate had the 'won't let me overtake' fault (along with several other faults) but it was updated nigh on two years ago. It's pretty good now, just occasionally will it get confused and try to prevent overtaking (like once in three or four months). A tap on the throttle pedal sorts it. I've got used to using ACC now, it's just a bit different to normal CC, albeit frustrating until I got my head around the way it works and adapted my driving to make the most of it. Overall, I now prefer ACC to normal CC. Currently on S/W 1896, with the car going to the dealers in a few weeks for other stuff so I've asked they update to 1941 at the same visit.

Before replacing, have you checked the right buckle is being used. The centre belt doesn't clip into the outer buckle and vice versa.

Mine is a manual, but I did drive a DSG Octavia Mk4 for a few months. In S mode, if you use the paddles it stays in ‘manual’ mode. In D mode, it returns to auto after a little while. Heres a couple of pages from the digital user manual I downloaded a while back…

Loss of car keys : Limit £1000 They may not be the cheapest but certainly at the time of last renewal, the best value for the cover I wanted (and I didn't even think about lost keys at that time).

That's a good shout, I'm going to check mine and if it doesn't find out what the top up premium is. On the assumption that at some point pretty much everyone loses a key, and I haven't in 40+ years of motoring - so statistically it's becoming more likely as each year goes by (plus I'm getting older...). No help to @Jonop, sorry. Hope you can source one at a more reasonable cost though I guess @TheWanderer could well be right.

No Google service, nor my browser, on my phone has access to the location; and no, I don't use Google Maps or Waze for navigation. But this is way off the topic of virtual cockpits...

I can think of a bunch of reasons not to have Google in my car (privacy etc. etc.) but that aside, why not use maps that are not Google? Any map displayed with car location on it gives a useful context to the journey, for example, the shape of a road junction, and indication of nearby towns or villages. I don't always need SatNav to tell me where to go. On a recent trip it was used the VAG map - it was showing a village near the coast with a POI of a café - a quick detour for lunch before resuming my drive.

That is a good shout. 5GHz wifi is good for speed, but 2.4GHz works better through walls and over longer distances.

Stats may well indicate that, but they are no good, for example, for the good people in parts of Cardiff where terraces of houses each not much wider than a car is long are divided in to three or more flats with the likelihood of at least one car per flat. And these are not student houses. Some days I know people who had to park two streets away.

I’m not yet convinced we’re at a tipping point, there is a huge way to go before an EV is practical for many. Infrastructure is the primary limiting factor, followed by charge time. A significant proportion of car owners have only street parking, and from my experience little chance of parking anywhere near their own front door. This makes them totally dependent on public charging stations with no option for a low rate domestic tariff of [their own] solar charging. And not everyone has an option to charge at work, again forcing charging at public stations. And if those are in the Park and Ride, then it’ll need to be there all day so others can’t access the charger. There is much noise made about fast charging from high power outlets, but my understanding is that fast charging is detrimental to battery life and in-car systems restrict the number of sequential fast charges. As yet, I haven’t found a non biased (without vested interest) assessment of how green or environment friendly an EV is compared to ICE vehicles are. Yes, at the exhaust/emissions level on the road an EV will be cleaner, but what about whole life, from raw materials to scrap/recycling? At some point in the future (not too distant I hope) the offshore grid will be commissioned enabling the wind generated power from the north, west, and offshore to be distributed across the whole of the UK. This is essential for the increase in demand for electricity from EVs and the switch from gas heating. I also wonder if the political drive would be better directed at massive investment in affordable and accessible public transport, reducing the demand for private vehicles. Surely we shouldn’t need as many cars (ICE or EV) in the UK.

I agree, mesh wifi is the way to go. They work a bit differently to wifi repeaters, especially if there are three of more access points. A mesh wifi will use multiple antennae in each unit which then communicate with each other to create a single wifi network (one SSID) with multiple access points. If the device supports it, you can connect to one access point and go walkabout and it will seamlessly switch a nearer one with a stronger signal. Most modern phones, tablets and laptops will support roaming. Some of the more expensive models of mesh wifi have a dedicated wireless channel for the interconnects between access points. This makes for a faster user experience as there is less contention. So, if you have a busy household with several users streaming media and/or gaming then I suggest investing in one with the dedicated channels - assuming your broadband also has the bandwidth. For several years I've been using a TP-Link Deco M5 mesh with three access points (without a dedicated interconnect) and it's been fine.

Hi @Gaz, whilst I'm a Mac user, I use webmail more than the macOS mail app so not that familiar with it. Having said that, the position and emboldening of "HeySpin New Releases" suggests to me that it's the sender rather than subject line. If it is, then maybe it's the deviousness of junk mail senders subtly changing the 'from address' to work around the filters, and the mail app filter is not quite getting there. Do you also have a rule that blocks from addresses that contain HeySpin rather than a specific address? Also, check your Junk Mail Behaviours settings. I'm guessing you don't want this...

@cadger81 you did mention in your first post it sometimes happens, sometimes not. I missed that 🙄 It really does sound like a fault in the kessy system; I have used mine for over two years and always consistent, no random issues . I hope you can get it fixed.

All that I can suggest is you check the settings for the central locking, they may be set to 'Single door' or 'Doors on one side' which would mean needing to unlock it two times or more to open the 5th door. Make sure it is set to 'All doors'.

I put my iPhone in flight mode one time. Infotainment system rebooted and the phone told me to turn on Wi-Fi to enable CarPlay - so even in flight mode the phone worked out I was in the car…

Yes, it affects mine with CarPlay, seems totally random as to whether I get no reboot, just one or multiple!

Can’t compare to a vRS, but in my 1.5tsi the red light will come on with a range between 55 and 85 miles. It’s usually in the range 65 - 75 miles though. As @toot say, depends on recent average mpg.

I have a couple of niggles remaining too. Love the car; arguably the best I’ve had in 40+ years of motoring, yet also arguably the worst! I find these repeated reboots are surprisingly frustrating! I keep toying with the idea getting rid too. I’ve hung on since March ‘21 with mine. Been at the [very good] dealers at Škoda’s behest for at least 6 months over that time. When is enough, enough? Is the question I keep asking myself. I can’t work out what to get instead either! Should be the subject of another thread I guess rather than derail this one.

I got the AP26U and AP19U as suggested by @inspectorman (thanks) and yes, they fit. Need to use fitting 4, and be careful not to pinch fingers in the process of putting them on the wiper arms (I did the same one twice in the same place - damned painful. Perhaps says more about my skill set than the wipers themselves 🙄). Being a generic fit they are symmetric in profile whereas the original fit and the A310S are asymmetric. I guess there may be a slight impact on performance in some conditions (high speed?) but I don’t know yet. If there isn’t why else would Bosch go to the bother of asymmetry?
