  1. Nice! For those without an Ikea nearby, I got one of these from Amazon along with a short USB-C to Micro USB cable - works a treat with my iPhoneXR. Very handy as CarPlay for both navigation (Apple Maps or Waze) and Spotify simultaneously seems to hammer the phone battery on a long run.
  2. Interesting indeed. I have had weekly courtesy calls since I left mine at the dealers middle of last month. Similar to @golfnut mine was an ex-demo / employee car; I am though driving another of the Dealers cars - which gives me hope as this Octavia Mk4 is working OK. It will get some serious mileage in the next ten days so I hope Skoda UK compensate the dealer appropriately.
  3. @Ajdude pleased to hear you’ve got it sorted Hope the VRS works out well for you. I’m hanging on in there for now, though I don’t know how much longer. Like you @Coume I now wonder if my dealer will looking at a buy back. Which dealership is yours from? I got mine from Meadens Brockenhurst as an ex-demo.
  4. Yes, I had something similar during the first couple of weeks - I was trying to work out why the App was telling me the car was not locked and a door was open when neither were true. My continual refresh of the App brought up that warning. I guess its some form of security thing, bit like three attempts at your bank card PIN only its a lot more than three with the Skoda App. Was reset after the next drive.
  5. I discovered that today! Quite nice to have the flexibility once I got used to changing up so rapidly after a junction - whilst twirling the steering wheel. Found myself putting it back in D at those busy spots then in to S and using the paddles for full manual once out on the open road.
  6. Not sure if it is 'normal' or not, but it is what mine does! ;-) I have a loan car at the moment (whilst mine is being investigated for the infamous MOPH/KPH issue) - its a Mk4 1.0 e-Tec DSG (and my first DSG too). That coasts some of the time on a closed throttle, at other times will keep the engine running with the benefit of engine braking. Fortunately it seems to be almost intelligent in that if I'm on a downhill and lift my foot off the throttle it keeps it in gear for the engine braking whereas on a [near] level road it will coast with the engine off. Just relax and enjoy the ride...
  7. Is it connected with CarPlay as well? I’ve have found it is either ‘traditional’ Bluetooth phone/audio or CarPlay (and then control is solely through the Infotinment system). Confusing though that CarPlay also uses a Bluetooth connection!
  8. I get a full screen with CarPlay, with both Waze and Spotify - the only two apps I’ve used. I wonder if it is related to phone screen aspect ratio?
  9. So good to hear you’ve got it sorted - hope you enjoy your trip away …
  10. I’m hanging on in there for the time being. My loan car (SE FE 1.0 e-Tec DSG Estate) is doing the biz for me though without the extra toys of my SEL FE; and so far no niggles with the loaner. I’m not sure how long to wait though. For me, it feels premature to start rejection/return measures, yet the longer it goes on the more I doubt! Last call I had from Skoda UK made mention of a potential six to eight weeks - so that’s three to five more in my case. Meanwhile I’m dealing with a bunch of non-car related issues so am staying chilled over this one!
  11. Updated 'scores' including the last couple of weeks comments... Styling - 10 Fuel Economy - 8 Power/Performance - 7 Value for money (incl. extended warranty value) - 3 Space - 3 Assist Systems (ACC, Rear Assist) - 2 DCC - 2 DSG - 1 Memory Seat -1 Matrix Lights - 1 Comfort - 1
  12. Are you using CarPlay/AndroidAuto or Bluetooth to sync the contacts etc to the infotainment system? I use CarPlay and then Siri to initiate a call - works OK.
  13. Could ask the dealer to remove the rear ones too - see how long they spend searching for them...
  14. I think it can only be saved to your user in the Skoda cloud, not to USB. Theory is that if you log in to a different car, preferences get copied to that car - would love to try it with seat and mirror positions as well as radio favourites.
  15. Nice! Setting up a user will probably help, but I agree, I'd have thought it would remember without that. Unless, maybe, some settings were associated with the key at delivery at it goes to those each time now. @Ajdude - I wonder if we'll end up choosing cars based on the infotainment system, a bit like smartphones (Android vs iPhone) or computers (Windows vs. Mac)? Sorry, danger of veering way off topic....
  16. Welcome to the forums, and your new car - good to hear you're loving it. What colour? IIRC, the Sync for the climate control can't be saved, which is frustrating, and for the mirrors I had to unlock the car with one of the keys, set the mirrors etc. then lock it with the same key. After that, using the KESSY seems restore the saved settings. Repeat with the other key for different settings. It took me several attempts and reading the user manual (& re-reading a few times) before I got mine sorted - perhaps says more about me though
  17. To provide a glimmer of hope, the loan Octavia Mk4 (1.0 e-Tec SE FE DSG Estate) I've been driving for a couple of weeks (and knocking on 850 miles) has been fine. From what I've been able to find out the build date was August 2020
  18. So that is something else to look forward too when (if ever) I get my car back... Meanwhile, I'll enjoy driving the loan 1.0 eTec SE FE DSG loan car they gave me.. (just a shame it doesn't have half the toys on my SE-L FE) - the Octavia Mk4 is a nice car. So frustrating many have issues...
  19. @Ajdude Shame the Superb is a bit too long, but hey ho! The loan car is a 1.0 e-Tec Estate SE First Edition, 70 plate. I’ve had it two weeks and covered about 700 miles, combination of local semi-urban driving and a few long runs on major roads and motorways. So far I’ve really enjoyed driving it (first time with DSG transmission after 40+ years of a manual ‘box) and it has been ‘gripe-free’ apart from one thing - using Waze with CarPlay the map display has stopped working when navigating a route, just get a white screen, voice instructions are OK though. When not navigating the map is displayed fine. Google Maps is fine when navigating, haven’t tried it with Apple maps yet. Waze used to work fine for about 10 days so it could be to do with the update cycles - I just did my iPhone to iOS 14.5 so maybe to do with that (Waze was updated a couple of weeks ago so it has worked OK since that update). Fuel economy has been pretty good in the loaner, at about 54mpg since I’ve been driving it. To be honest, if I hadn’t been spoiled by the toys/goodies in my SE-L FE (and splashed the cash for it) I’d be quite happy with this car. The 1.0 e-Tec has performed well so far with two people and a boot fairly well loaded (four-up and a rammed boot may be a bit much for long trips from Hampshire to the Highlands though!). Let me know if you have any specific questions/points and I’ll try to help out.
  20. Understandable - though the loan Mk4 I have is working fine so they are not all bad. Contrary to several views expressed here, I live in hope of a fix one day. Though to be honest, I’m not expecting it within the next week… Instead of a Kodiaq have you consider Superb? My previous car was a 14 plate 1.4tsi which returned about 49mpg over the four years and 50k+ miles I drove it. Just a thought.
  21. So good to hear you are enjoying your car and it’s working well for you. Most of the issues we’ve got are with early builds of U.K. market cars. Perhaps we should have ditched Brexit, started driving on the right hand side of the road and using Kms not miles 😂
  22. I’ve given up looking! Bought three different cables each purportedly 31cm or a bit longer - all too short. I’ve resorted to tucking the supplied 90cm cable behind the mirror. Falls down occasionally so need a little cable tie is the next ‘fix’
  23. So sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved dog. A very nice touch from Kate & Skoda UK.
  24. I’d say that the loan car I have (whilst mine is at the dealer for the KPH/MPH issue) is as close to being without fault as you’d get. The infotainment system sometimes feels a bit slow to load and that’s it. It’s a 70 plate SE 1st Edition 1.0 e-Tec DSG Estate
  25. So far, it’s working fine. Covered about 250 miles in it so far, over several journeys. KPH/MPH is fine, no problem changing units. Infotainment system is a little slow to start up but never been an issue. CarPlay reconnects my iPhone automatically wirelessly. @Gax @fossman - no issue with screen not working. Only [non] issue is with me getting familiar with the DSG e-Tec 🙄 and picking up a stone chip on the windscreen!
