Indeed - the most polluted areas in Sheffield are the train station and now the area behind the Crucible Theatre now that they've closed it ne way to cars and diverted all the buses down it... As for particulates - EV's tend to generate much more from tyres than a similar ICE vehicle does so it all balances out...

I think he means it's not a battery pack made of blade cells (new tech from BYD I believe) so literally a block shaped battery. If it's the same as ours then the easiest way is probably a spare wheel kit, or at least the foam and central support that would surround the spare if you had one. You might be able to find them on eBay cheap enough.

Yep there are holes in coverage that's true but you can usually interpret the data to fill the gaps as each device is unique so you get an origin and destination plus the majority of a route and where there are holes there is usually a fairly limited number of roads so you extrapolate and 'join the dots' as it were. We had one amusing issue where vehicles seemed to be flipping between one side of the Bristol channel and the other depending on which signal towers they were connecting to but it was sorted out and corrected.

Why are you talking only about motorways? @Winston_Woof was suggesting charging for ALL mileage regardless of road type... Also the Govt and local councils mostly want people out of cars and onto public transport... Even if it doesn't work for many people And finally you wod be amazed at how easy it is to track vehicle mileage these days using Bluetooth or sim card data, or even ANPR that is pretty much everywhere these days... The infrastructure is already there covering the whole country... We use it at work all the time in strategic transport models... So @Winston_Wolf's suggestion could be implemented without much need for additional technology to charge such as that used on toll roads. Basically there would be very little way of avoiding it... Even on country roads in the cotswolds.

Yep... The MILs car was due its MOT at the end of February from memory but when we tried to book it in well in advance at the govt test centre the earliest available appointment was late June... Same test centre.

that's a very good point - I seem to recall that most of the supposed 'extra' boot space in a Kodiaq is vertical as the boot is in fact shorter than the Superb. Also this website might help the OP as well as the Mobility one? By make | RiDC

I can't comment on the Mk2, nor the mobility scooter issue, but we regularly get my daughters wheelchair in the boot of our 5 seat Mk1 Kodiaq along with a lot of luggage for trips to family and holidays. The wheelchair is an Invacare Action 3 self-propelled and the wheels go on one side of the boot strapped to the hook rails and the folded chair itself on the other, with the rear seats in their fully back position, leaving lots of room in the middle of the boot. We also have a spare wheel under the boot floor which raises the boot floor a little, reducing boot space so the wheelchair parts sit into the below floor storage areas either side of the spare wheel. Not sure if the above makes sense but I can probably get some photos for you if that would help?

Bear in mind also that, as far as I am aware, the haldex system doesn't flag any dash errors, so the first thing you know about it not working as, as you've found, when it doesn't work. Yep - that's not working! The older systems did require a small amount of wheelspin before the rears would kick in but the newer ones are pre-engaged a small %age and predictive so shoudl be kicking in fine. The first thing to check would be the haldex pump / filter / oil etc.

I think people talking about dropping the headlining and removing sill covers are talking rubbish - the cables are generally that thin that those items don' need to be removed and they can usually simply be tucked under them neatly without interfering with anything else. I've just done added a rear light under the roller blind for the boot in our Kodiaq and had no issues feeding the wires through and under various trim to get to where I needed to be. Granted that's not to the front of the car but I've done that before to and from various points including the dashboard / centre console to the boot area on other vehicles and not had an issue.

The clips aren't too short looking at those pictures - the hose just isn't in all the way and fully home, thus preventing the clip from seating properly. In my experience from our previous Mk2 TDi 4x4 doing a similar job (turbo to intercooler hose) they can be a bugger to fit and do take a fair bit of fiddling and wriggling and forcing to get the hose to seat properly - I'd therefore be tempted to take the hose off and try again (I know it took me a few goes to get mine on fully).

If it's glazed patches, which you should be able to spot after taking the wheel off, I've had that in the past and have been able to clear it by sanding them slightly with some rough wet and dry on a sanding block. Out of gear you can put a wheel stud back in and spin the disk using the wheel brace while holding the sanding block against the disc.

What are your tyre treads like on the four wheels and have you checked for abs sensor faults?

Yes I know that hence my question as that is exactly the problem I had. Battery appeared ok but wasn't when actually put to use trying to turn the engine over...

Did the RAC manage actually try a new battery on it or just test it as the issues sounds very much like those I had years ago when my battery gave up. Drove fine, parked up, locked car all ok. Came back, unlocked and tried to start but nothing other than a dashboard full of warning lights and faults. A new battery sorted it.

As far as I know Arrowspeed are made by Nexen and are basically rebranded Nexen tyres. Make of that what you want.

It did the clutch thing again yesterday but sorted it no problem... Also as promised photos of it in all its glory...

Hmmm... Even a Kia Sorrento starts at £45k and a Hyundai Santa Fe at £47k... Looks like I may be downsizing or looking for another cheaper brand... I wonder what the big Dacia Bigster will start at? My guess is about £8k less than the base Kodiaq...

Ouch!!! That base price is double what I paid for a low mileage one... I'll definitely need to wait a few years...
