  1. Just check tread depth on the tyres and if they are getting close down to the wear indicators ask for replacements. Same for discs and pads on the brakes. Also check for any uneven wear on the tyres as that may indicate alignment issues. And finally does the condition of the interior and pedal rubbers seem to match the low mileage?
  2. I think the minor interim will have included an oil change. Have you checked other things like tyres and brakes?
  3. I actually quite like the new one - it's a bit sleeker than the old? However, I still don't like the sticky out angled grille that the current one or the new one has - I prefer the original from a looks perpective. Still undeceided on the inside though...
  4. Pretty certain that Porsche have a synthetic fuel facility in south America... at Haru Oni in Patagonia, Chile. It uses carbon dioxide from corn or scrubbed from the atmosphere plus hydrogen from electrolysis of water to creat e-fuel using wind power. A couple of links below... I think many builders are like that - there's a house being extended and renovated next door to my mum - they've been at it two years so far and it's still nowhere near finished - no cladding to the external walls, driveway and gardens full of rubbish and materials, walls not rendered, paving not laid, roofing not finished. The (second) builder is hardly ever there (the first went bankrupt). Meanwhile up from us there's another house that has been undergoing similar work for about a month to six weeks and it's nearly finished
  6. We had similar on our Mk2 and on our Fabia. I resealed between the glass and bodywork on a dry day after cleaning all the channel out etc, using polyurethane sealant and that sorted it without taking the screen out. You need to do the full width at the top and down the sides, otherwise the water continues to get in through capillary action.
  7. From recent quotes for our Kodiaq a swan neck detachable with 13 pin electrics fully fitted should be about £750 to £800 all in. I also got a quote for an OE Skoda foldaway fitted by an independent and that was over £1000.

Bosch and Varta are the same and made in the same factories but Varta are cheaper. Yuasa are also good. I've always used Varta but do have a Yuasa on my MX5.
  9. A simple gloss black trim run along the edge of the roof at the top of the window line would probably look much neater and work equally well at stopping water pouring in off the roof when a window or door is opened - almost like the roof gutter on the original mini? 13 x 3.5mm GLOSS Black Flat Self Adhesive Trim Per Metre (carbuilder.com)
  10. Have a look at self adhesive trims on the car builder solutions website as they may have something suitable.
  11. At a guess it could be the exciter wire at the alternator plug. I believe they have been known to fracture and break, or at least they did on some of the 1.9s
  12. Pretty certain that a 2018 won't have a build sticker but it it does it'll be in the boot by the spare wheel. If it doesn't have one you can check the build options via the chat option on the skoda website if you have your vin number.
  13. They are a thing... The aim of them is for everybody to have access to basic needs and requirements within 15 minutes walk from their home.
  14. Noted and agree... All users should be aware of other users and also take responsibility for their own and others safety.
  15. No it's called the hierarchy of road users which is determined by their vulnerability
  16. That is a lack of passive safety and security provided by pass by traffic of any sort, vehicular or non motorised, and the natural oversight provided by it.
  17. We found similar initially when doing similar studies but also found those reductions don't last and a few months later speeds were back up. Ideally you need long term data and at least 5 years of accident data to determine if it will work.
  18. I think it's a combination of lack of critical thinking and bandwagon. LTNs, Active Travel and Future High Streets fund for example are all good ideas when targeted correctly but a number of Local Authorities have simply jumped on the bandwagon and made up business cases to gain funding for schemes that haven't been fully thought through and critically appraised and don't have public support or backing as a result as the evidence of benefits is flawed or lacking. They are then required to deliver those schemes regardless of how good they are or they have to pay back the funding.
  19. Here in Sheffield there is a specific problem on a certain main radial route into town at peak hours caused by taxis and others parking illegally outside a couple of takeaways to get food, on double yellows near a crossroads. It causes significant issues for traffic flow and buses. The solution would be better enforcement of the existing parking restrictions and the traffic wardens spending a few hours for a few weeks ticketing people. The council know that and have admitted enforcement is the issue themselves but their proposed solution was new all day bus lanes, junction modifications or to red route the entire length of the road. It beggared belief that they were so stupid as to not see the obvious and act upon it in an appropriate manner and that a small vocal minority who were advocates of anything anti car had such sway in decision making (and before anyone questions this I was present in the relevant meetings and discussions with the council). Its a similar mentality with some of the 20mph zones.... So instead of using them to fix specific issues they've taken a nuclear option that brings the whole thing into disrepute and costs a fortune in Traffic Regulation Orders, bureacracy, Roadside signs and lining for no benefit over a targeted solution. Its almost as if the mentality is 'we must spend money on doing something' regardless of what it is.
  20. There are blanket 20mph areas though where all roads bar a main thoroughfare are 20mph. We have that in some areas of Sheffield. Might that be what he is thinking of, as opposed to what people want which is targeted 20mph areas around sensitive receptors?
  21. He he - I can beat that - Iast year I did so few miles in my MX5 for various reasons that the cost per mile was over £3. Still wouldn't change it though 🤣
  22. Oh dear... very sad
  23. "The Truth About Electric Cars" is the thread - your post is re a van???
  24. Not sure Lee - there's so many different and confusing figures about and some of the above posts aren't easily readable or understandable due to grammar, spelling and missing words etc. My guess is some people talk about 'vehicles' whilst others break the figures down by 'type'. However you look at it though EV's of whatever type still only make up a small proportion of the total - albeit as others point out it is starting to change with varying rates depending upon country and vehicle type. We're still some way off parity or EVs being in the majority overall though and that probably won't happen quickly given the longevity of many vehicles and the fact that some countries have no EV mandate etc.
  25. So - you remind me the thread is about cars and then you go on to talk about any other type of vehicle...??? It's a shame you always try to distract - what's the word that keeps getting used - oh yes - "whataboutery"! Regardless of your post it doesn't change the fact that you called out others, accusing them of being unable to read or calculate and yet you could do neither yourself. Quite hypocritical, poor manners and unnecessary.
