  1. IMHO all vehicles should come with front and rear mudguards as standard to reduce spray from tyres in bad weather, regardless of whether they keep the car cleaner or not.
  2. Excellent... Better than giving the dealer £400 for something that wasn't needed!
  3. Ah... So the European Explorer... I was trying to work out how the iD4 was related to the US Explorer... Which it clearly isn't. Thanks
  4. Ok. I'm pretty sure it will be the same as the Kodiaq or similar... So there should be a removable flap or plastic vent inside the boot (behind the lens) which reveals a plastic screw. Undo this and the lens should come away from the car quite easily, albeit it has a rubber seal against the bodywork so might be a bit stuck. You should then be able to unplug the connector and possibly an indicator bulb holder to remove the lens so you can get it inside to dry out. You'll probably find more instructions in the bulb changing section of the handbook.
  5. Is it the inner light on the tailgate or the outer one on the rear wing?
  6. Nope... All estates. TBH you really would be better starting with a haldex equipped model and then tuning or converting that.
  7. They have done for years... They can be recycled or, reused as is. I used them maybe 20 or more years ago for a yard at a big fresh wster pumping station. If they are well graded or even with no fines they will knit together over time to create a semi bound surface that drains easily.
  8. Looking at various websites the Westfalia towbars for the Octavia 3 all seem to have a 85kg max noseweight.
  9. The video the OP posted clearly shows the front wheels slipping and no engagement of the rears...
  10. The ones on that site are the DfE ones - Devonshire Green is in a car park and surrounded by restaurants and fast food places as well as being in a 'hollow'. The Barnsley Road one I know and is on a busy road and the main drag to the big Northern General Hospital. The others are next to the M1 and a Ringinglow outside the school where the buses wait. SCC also have their own set ups and diffusion tubes at various locations which is where the Station info comes from - No2 levels there are usually over 60microgrammes per M3, well over 2.5 times those anywhere else.
  11. Just following up on the point @J.R. has made - I agree - the fundamental issue is the differential is not fit for purpose if it is leaking, regardless of the hole, and clearly you still have a non-functioning 4x4 system. Personally, I wouldn't be happy with a second hand differential that has had a 'hole drilled i it' either. I'd therefore be pushing for another replacement differential and for them to fully sort the 4x4 system. They've already had one go at fixing it and have failed so I think it's now a case of rejecting the car or taking some legal advice on what to do next.
  12. Indeed - whenever I've been on a train journey or used the underground I always find I need a shower afterwards to get rid of the muck... blow your nose after a journey on the underground and you see just how many particulates there are down there!
  13. It is funny that isn't it and I've seen similar elsewhere - some might suggest that the pollution monitoring stations have been 'strategically placed' to ensure they have high readings that can be blamed on vehicular traffic, as opposed to on the real culprits...
  14. Indeed - the most polluted areas in Sheffield are the train station and now the area behind the Crucible Theatre now that they've closed it ne way to cars and diverted all the buses down it... As for particulates - EV's tend to generate much more from tyres than a similar ICE vehicle does so it all balances out...
  15. I think he means it's not a battery pack made of blade cells (new tech from BYD I believe) so literally a block shaped battery. I could be wrong though as half his posts make little sense due to all the spelling and typographical errors and lack of punctuation - so I understand your difficulties given you now effectively think in French.
  16. If it's the same as ours then the easiest way is probably a spare wheel kit, or at least the foam and central support that would surround the spare if you had one. You might be able to find them on eBay cheap enough.
  17. True... But you'll pass Cheshire cameras 🤣 ANPR isn't just for LEZ...
  18. Yep there are holes in coverage that's true but you can usually interpret the data to fill the gaps as each device is unique so you get an origin and destination plus the majority of a route and where there are holes there is usually a fairly limited number of roads so you extrapolate and 'join the dots' as it were. We had one amusing issue where vehicles seemed to be flipping between one side of the Bristol channel and the other depending on which signal towers they were connecting to but it was sorted out and corrected.
  19. Why are you talking only about motorways? @Winston_Woof was suggesting charging for ALL mileage regardless of road type... Also the Govt and local councils mostly want people out of cars and onto public transport... Even if it doesn't work for many people And finally you wod be amazed at how easy it is to track vehicle mileage these days using Bluetooth or sim card data, or even ANPR that is pretty much everywhere these days... The infrastructure is already there covering the whole country... We use it at work all the time in strategic transport models... So @Winston_Wolf's suggestion could be implemented without much need for additional technology to charge such as that used on toll roads. Basically there would be very little way of avoiding it... Even on country roads in the cotswolds.
  20. Yep... The MILs car was due its MOT at the end of February from memory but when we tried to book it in well in advance at the govt test centre the earliest available appointment was late June... Same test centre.
  21. that's a very good point - I seem to recall that most of the supposed 'extra' boot space in a Kodiaq is vertical as the boot is in fact shorter than the Superb. Also this website might help the OP as well as the Mobility one? By make | RiDC
  22. Vauxhall Chevette 1.3L
  23. I can't comment on the Mk2, nor the mobility scooter issue, but we regularly get my daughters wheelchair in the boot of our 5 seat Mk1 Kodiaq along with a lot of luggage for trips to family and holidays. The wheelchair is an Invacare Action 3 self-propelled and the wheels go on one side of the boot strapped to the hook rails and the folded chair itself on the other, with the rear seats in their fully back position, leaving lots of room in the middle of the boot. We also have a spare wheel under the boot floor which raises the boot floor a little, reducing boot space so the wheelchair parts sit into the below floor storage areas either side of the spare wheel. Not sure if the above makes sense but I can probably get some photos for you if that would help?
  24. Bear in mind also that, as far as I am aware, the haldex system doesn't flag any dash errors, so the first thing you know about it not working as, as you've found, when it doesn't work. This is a really useful site generally and this page especially in terms of fault finding: VW Audi Generation 5 Haldex Fault Finding Repair Guide – Haldex Parts and ECU Repairs by Auto Fault Finder Ltd (haldexrepairs.co.uk)
  25. Yep - that's not working! The older systems did require a small amount of wheelspin before the rears would kick in but the newer ones are pre-engaged a small %age and predictive so shoudl be kicking in fine. The first thing to check would be the haldex pump / filter / oil etc.
