Just for info road pavement construction and lifetime calculations use MSA or million standard axles and the calcs generally ignore cars and LGVs. There are factors to apply in the calcs for them but they don't usually have much impact or make much difference as the axle weights are small compared to HGVs. Also that reference document re weights and dimensions is effectively superseded now as Longer Semi Trailers or LSTs are now allowed to be used on the road generally and not just as part of a long running trial. If I remember I'll dig out the technical note for the calcs tomorrow as it's on my laptop from some analysis I did for United Utilities and Lancashire County Council last year. I'm pretty certain it's CD 224.

And those black wheels look awful and very small at the back compared to the body above. It may be an optical illusion but even so... Meh

This was an issue over 20 years ago with the Mk1 Fabia... Excessive inner edge tyre wear, mostly on the fronts. We had it on our Fabia but after a toe correction by a local tyre fitter at the first replacement of the tyres it was fine for another 100k miles. You'd have thought they would have learned...

WTF are you on about??? Drivers still have the same distance to travel... Queues may be slightly shorter length wise and they might clear slightly quicker but that's all. A Passenger Car Unit will still be classed as 5.75m for highway and junction design purposes and Stop Line Saturation flows won't change so any affects will be relatively minor.

From £65k to £77k before options... That's not in any way cheap compared to a Kodiaq which starts at £35k ish for similar space. Thats a price difference of £30k!! That buys an awful lot of fuel...

When I replace the Swift, which incidentally has a near 300 mile range despite its tiny fuel tank, I'll probably go electric but will only want to pay about £11k which is what I paid for the Swift which is a top of the range model and had only done 800miles. Even the Kodiaq with 16k miles was only £18k and the most I've ever paid for a vehicle in nearly 40 years of motoring.

Look up the meaning of ignorant and you will see it is commonly used as a rude and insulting term. You would be better using 'ill informed' as it is not rude and insulting.

I think you'll find it IS the reason for a large swathe of the population, particularly in relation to initial outlay, even second hand (looking at the prices for something comparable in terms of mileage and size to the vehicles we have).

Oh totally agree... I only use one on my old MX5 as an additional deterrent alongside a comprehensive immobiliser but am well aware that if someone really wants it they'll have it. But if it makes them think twice and move on somewhere else it's done its job.

I very much doubt it's the fob batteries... Far more likely to be the detector coil or starter button.

Sound like the haldex needed servicing and the filter replaced. Ours would transfer power quickly albeit it did need a few degrees of wheel rotation first as the early haldex weren't predictive or pre-engaged. As I said in the other thread we had no such problems but hey ho...

Daft thing to say but does that second image seem to suggest the system is looking for a separate rest button as suggested earlier? Surely there must be some long coding that tells it whether there is a separate physical or a software reset button... Does any of this help..

I could be wrong but I seem to recall looking into this a while back when I thought the one in our Kodiaq had failed. From memory if you remove the trim panels either side of the footwell you may be able to get at the clips holding that whole panel in and push it up and out which should give you access to remove the socket. Beware though in terms of replacement as there are some that are power only and some that allow data transfer too.

Hydrogen ICE will be equally flexible as to where the original energy soutce comes from - eg wind or tidal etc. - in fact most hydrogen manufacturing development is based around wind at the moment, being planned near new offshore wind farm incomers.

If it's sitting on top of the seal it's the exact problem I had with our Kodiaq. It took me a while to track down the cause having looked at light seals, gas strut fixings and rear hatch seal but the issue was actually the rubber grommet round the rear wiper leaking between it and the window glass, the water then running down inside the interior trim onto the seal. The solution was to reseal between the rubber grommet and the glass with flexible polyurethane windscreen sealant. It's a bit tricky to do without taking the wiper off but is possible by using a small screwdriver to carefully lift the grommet a bit at a time to allow you to get some sealant under it.
