Wireless Android Auto - Looking for Recommendation
Yes. I'm currently looking at the AAWireless Two - the one without carplay - with the button that can switch between phones and put it into standby as that should suit. It's a bit more expensive but fingers crossed...

Wireless Android Auto - Looking for Recommendation
Ok I've been using the ottocast mini cube 3 for a couple of weeks now and have to say I'm not impressed. Connection is very hit and miss, only connecting maybe 5 or 10 percent of the time, even after resetting both phone, car and dongle. When it does connect it's fine but a wired connection is quicker and more reliable it seems. This is with a Bolero and any of the families Motorola G35, G55, G15 or even an old Nokia. The car seems to recognise the ottocast but it then goes round and trying to connect to the phone. It may therefore simply be an issue with the combination we have. It also doesn't seem to like changing phones or connecting to a different phone if, say my wife drives but again that could be our phones or something. I think I'll be sending it back unless I can find a solution. Edit: having thought and looked at this some more I 'think' the set up seems to be getting it's knickers in a twist over android and apple connections, as someone else mentioned that the ottocast is primarily a car play device that runs android auto within an internal app. If so that could explain a lot and why the other day it was trying to connect as carplay and wouldn't even give me the option of android auto.

Ottocast
Been using the ottocast mini cube 3 the last couple of weeks and I'm back to using a cable. It just will not connect reliably and goes round in circles trying. It also won't switch phones easily so it's proving more trouble than it's worth. When it does eventually connect it works fine but that seems to be about 5 to 10 percent of the time. By the looks of things there's an issue connecting our Motorola phone as the Kodiaqs bolero seems to recognise it. Either that or there's a conflict with my smart watch which also uses Bluetooth which the ottocast does initially before connecting wirelessly. At one stage it thought I had an apple phone which makes me think it's not going to work for the combination we have. I'll probably be sending it back Edit: having thought and looked at this some more I 'think' the set up seems to be getting it's knickers in a twist over android and apple connections, as someone else mentioned that the ottocast is primarily a car play device that runs android auto within an internal app. If so that could explain a lot and why the other day it was trying to connect as carolay and wouldn't even give me the option of android auto...

That one looks like Hardwick Hall just off the M1 near Chesterfield (I've done work there for the National Trust associated with when the M1 became a managed motorway and have been up on the roof before now). It's an impressive place and run by a great team. It and Chatsworth are a couple of our go-to places for a walk and an afternoon out.

Linux Installation and usage chat
If its throwing a TPM 2.0 issue as a reason for not updating it might be worth checking the Bios to be certain it's not present if you haven't already. My desktop was saying the same and wouldn't update but I double checked the bios and found that it simply wasn't enabled by default and that was causing the issue. A quick change in the bios and it updated perfectly.

Tail Lights
If you have a low spec Kodiaq those parts of the lights are not fitted with LEDs so they will never turn on. Have you checked if the light units actually have the LEDs in them?

Fuel gauge reading incorrect - running out of gas with range left
If it's due to the saddle tank arrangement it could be that the cross tank suction pump has failed or is intermittently failing... From memory the tank has two pumps. One to lift to the engine and one for balancing between the two halves of the saddle tank (don't ask me why they used this arrangement rather than just a simple low level pipe connection). Thus if the balancing pump fails you effectively 'lose' about a third of a tankful.

Dpf light & Oil Pressure Issue
Might be worth having a quick look at the filter first... I had something similar with our old Fabia, albeit that didn't have dpf, and having replaced the pressure sensor and various other things it turned out to be a collapsed oil filter insert.

Karoq 1.5TSI ACT cambelt change.
TBH we should start getting some real-life data soon enough in terms of life expectancy and mileages. EA211 TSI engines have been around since 2012 and the ACT versions since 2017 IIRC. So if failures due to age and / or mileage are starting to happen earlier than suggested by the recent changes to the service regimes / manuals then we should have started hearing by now... or we will do soon.

When to fit new cam belt on my no history 156,000 miler
Our Fabia 1.9 pd ATD did 80,000 miles on its first cambelt no problem if that helps.

That sounds promising then... I'm still waiting for mine to arrive but I know its on its way

Jaguar, will it survive?
It's interesting certainly - I worry that Jaguar has lost it's way with the recent relaunch - but it is encouraging to hear the recent reviews of drives in test mules. However, to me the big issue for many might just be the 'design' which, whilst 'clean' seems very angular and poorly thought out and detailed to me. But then I'm not the target audience, although historically a Jaguar would have been aspirational for me. At the end of the day they'll probably sell to the types of people who currently buy BMWs and Audi's and other 'prestige' marques on the 'never never' as they are the sort of people who want the 'latest thing' on their driveway to keep up appearances - and that's not me in any way shape or form! 🤣

Are your door locks working normally?

The hazing may just be a dust build up. Can you get a cloth in to the back of them to try a clean up? I think someone on here alsonager to clean the front using a pipe cleaner arrangement somehow too.

Legal H7 led mk3 ŠKODA
No it doesn't override type approval but they have, through testing, obtained specific ECE approval that means the retrofit LEDs can legally be fitted, as they have been tested and found to be equivalent to type approved bulbs, but only in certain countries and vehicles. The UK isn't one of those countries but Ireland is. Once fitted there are specific documents that need to be printed off and sticker applied to the headlight to confirm the ECE approval if and when the vehicle is inspected. I've been watching this develop for a few years now hoping the UK would be on the list of countries but as it's no longer in the EU it isn't so they remain non street legal here

Headlights dazzling other road users?
By far the worst seems to be Tesla's... I'm not sure if they have slightly different standards in the US but I can pretty much guarantee if a car dazzles me coming the other way it's a Tesla

Osram make LEDs that are subject to specific retrofit approval but only in certain countries. The info is on Thier website and the UK isn't one of them, but I have a vague recollection Ireland is... Found it... https://www.osram.com/am/night-breaker-led-compatibility-list-cyprus-ireland-malta.jsp The above is the Ireland page... And attached is the current compatibility list... 20251201_NIGHT_BREAKER_LED_COMPATIBILITY_LIST_CARS_CAMPERS_SPECIAL_VEHICLES_EN.pdf
