  1. Bang on you beat me to it... Its all to do with number of customers served by infrastructure vs cost of that infrastructure. More customers equals lower cost... Simple and no conspiracy theories needed.
  2. We had the same o our old Octavia and it was just a seized motor. Took it off gave the bearing a squirt of wd40 to free it off and then a drop of oil and it was fine for a couple more years until we traded it in.
  3. If you look down the back of the slam panel below the latch mechanism you might be ae to see the other end where the connection fits if it is the bonnet latch switch.
  4. The only othe thing I can think of them is the bonnet latch switch if it has one that would indicate the bonnet open for the dash telltale or alarm?? After that I'm struggling unless it's an A/C sensor???
  5. That looks a good shout if two wires and one yellow and blue and one yellow and brown. The sensor itself is usually plugged into a hole in the grille next to the fog light or nearby
  6. How many pins are in the end... Its hard to tell number and size from looking at the back of the plug
  7. At a guess it plugs into that female connector just in front of your hand I the picture.
  8. Deactivating by unticking the box in the infotainment will work fine for the ferry but beware it resets when you unlock... So don't lock then unlock then lock again. Just unstick, turn off the engine then get out close all doors and lock.
  9. I've got a couple too... Ones a panasonic a d one a technics but given both brands are the same company the only difference is one has an anti skip feature and is silver the other doesn't and is grey. They still work fine and my eldest uses one to play backing tracks when she's practising the flute.
  10. Ah well... Just wondered. Don't recall seeing a different vehicle with some massive speakers in the boot though...🤣
  11. Did you happen to be on the M62 yesterday evening about 1830 ish by any chance? Just wondering as I went past an identical M car to yours with a lady driver and a private plate around then clearly doing a relaxed under the speed limit speed as I passed heading for Birkenhead and the Belfast ferry.
  12. 99% sure this will be the motor mechanism and sliding contacts inside it that need a clean and regrease
  13. Take a look at this thread... it seems to have ben moved to part of the personalisation options in newer vehicles
  14. I'm pretty certain both park assist and cruise make use of the front radar sensor behind the solid section of the front grille. It may therefore be worth checking that it's not been damaged or is covered in muck / spiders (I know the one on my Swift is pretty seneitive to the latter).
  15. Can't be certain as I'm not near ours but thought there was an option accessed via Menu / Settings (gear wheel icon) / Time and Date?
  16. The person who failed it probably did so because he's fitted such a kit to his own car... (based on my knowledge and previous experience of Halfords 'technicians'...)
  17. I don't take pictures but often look at my mk1 mx5 parked next to modern stuff and think it looks small ... Even the swift looks big next to it.
  18. Yep I understand this is a common problem as we had ours was replaced when we bought it S/H as part of the pre sale checks. Interesting to see the inside though...
  19. I'd be checking boost pipes from turbo to intercooler and brake servi vacuum pipes for splits
  20. That sounds bang on Ken - our 2001 ATD Fabia 1.9TCi Estate did similar and would happily chug along or manoeuvre (eg parking) at just above idle revs. You can stall them but it takes some doing...
  21. Ah - looks like you'll need to get busy with the tiger seal then??
  22. That looks pretty much the same as the one I've got for the Swift - works a treat!
  23. a quick way to check if it's the screen (and a temporary fix) is to run some PTFE electrical tape around the screen between the glass and the bodywork. It won't damage anything but will help you see if that is the issue as it should remain dry if it is. My guess though is that you are right and it's the screen to bodywork join (had this on our Fabia and Octavia but only when they got very old).
