  1. For info we originally wanted an SEL but finished up with an SE as we found a deal too good to miss and decided we could do without the extras, although ours does have heated seats which are a must with my herniated disc in my back. A year on we're happy with it and don't miss the SEL spec. SWMBO would prefer an electric tailgate but having seen some of the problems with them I'm glad we have a manual one.
  2. No need to send info... That's your business... I was just wondering if it was things that might be obtained in different ways.
  3. Ah ok that's a pain as you'd probably be able to get a more suitable spec... Looks like you're into an interior swap then. Have to say personally I don't understand why leather is always considered upmarket and manufacturers don't give non leather options free of charge
  4. Out of interest what extras would you be adding to an SE... Could you go used?
  5. For info Alcantara seats from Kodiaqs are available on eBay .. there's even a full sportline interior on there
  6. I'm still struggling with the concept of a £30k second hand Fabia personally... https://usedcars.skoda.co.uk/en/used-cars/skoda/fabia/15-tsi-150-monte-carlo-5dr-dsg-k5cxq63
  7. Ah... Sat nav... We don't have that luxury in our Kodiaq so use Google maps via android auto but in our other car it's dead easy to update as you just pop the maps on an SD card, plug that in and your done. Does yours not update via the Internet and over the air? I had it in mind the new ones did either via the built in esim or by connecting to house WiFi or a mobile phone hot-spot.
  8. Chrysler pt cruiser has wheel arch panels for bulb access... Works well. Maybe grab some access panels from a scrapper and cut the arch liners to suit?
  9. Have to say I'm with you on not liking leather seats... I don't get sick but really do not like them and I've tried a lot including supposedly well bolstered sports seats... I much prefer cloth or alcantara
  10. Yep we got a 2018 Kodiaq last year and found the same... The owners manual is hard going... Much harder than my experience of other makes but then we only have an SE so a lot of the manual isn't relevant...
  11. Correct - but an early 4x4 or Scout with a PD engine is EU4 and will pass an MOT without one. It is a risk but, bearing in mind that the 4x4 drivetrain and undertrays such as the rough road package make the DPF very difficult to see, the chances of it being identified as cut and gutted are very minimal.
  12. I agree re the lying but but it's all to do with downsizing according to BMW... Given most are turbo'd engines the last two numbers on the cars designation are supposed to give an 'equivalent' naturally aspirated size - or that's what they suggested initially when they changed, but now it's more a rough 'power band' - a bit like Audi use - and allows them to designate the same engine in different states of tune by different numbers.
  13. Depends what you are looking for but the 2.0 PD in the Mkii Octavia 4x4 was a development of the 1.9PD - one of the most reliable engines you can get. It's only 8 valve and has a DPF in the 4x4 and Scout but the DPF can be removed and it can easily be mapped to about 185bhp on a Stage 1 and more on a Stage 2. We had one for 14 years and it was pretty much bulletproof apart from needing a turbo to intercoooler hose every 7 years.
  14. Agree - amazing what you can see and how it clarifies your understanding of how the whole thing works (or was supposed to!)
  15. I think they stopped about ten years ago??
  16. Yep GE14s for a mkii estate and I fitted and removed mine roadside using the scissor jack that came with the car and axle stands. Given they were on the car for so long they are in surprisingly good condition. One looks like new and the other just has a couple of cracks at the thin edges. Insurance-wise I didn't but the car was insured for other non-standard changes.
  17. If you like under the back of the car you can probably measure the resting gap between the coils. I'm pretty certain the ones on my mkii were GE14s but I'll try and find them in the garage to check. Edit... The gap Grayston quote is with the car jacked up and the wheel off the ground
  18. Possibly the slightest amount (I can't remember what the difference in wheel centre to wheel arch measurement was) but not really discernible and I didn't need to adjust the headlights so it can't have been anything worth bothering about.
  19. I fitted them midpoint on both sides but made sure they were not contacting anything else.
  20. They usually affect just over one coil maybe 1.5 coils tops. And they do not make the coil uncompressible as they are rubber and therefore do compress themselves. In terms of stiffness they probably add about 10% to 12%. My take on the wording is temporary as most people do not tow on every journey and because they can be fitted and removed relatively easily and do not constitute a more permanent change like stiffer springs ormad helper springs would.
  21. I would suggest taking the reflector out first and then try refitting the bumper part as you may find the reflector is obstructing the clips
  22. What a load of codswallop... We has spring assitors on the back or our mkii Octavia 4x4 Estate for 13 years with no problems and no broken springs. Tbey firmed the back end up nicely and made a big difference to stability and clearance when usi g a tow bar mounted bike rack with four bikes on it. For the money they cost they were great and I'd recommend them.
  23. Tbh you'll have no chance rejecting a car for a rattle and the lumber handle coming off One is already fixed and the other will just ba case of finding whatever is loose and cable tying it up. Sorry to make little of your issues but it does make me laugh when people talk about rejecting a vehicle for those sorts of reasons. Chances are the rattle is a five minute fix but the dealer can't be bothered.
  24. Hi Ryan - probably looking at £400 to £500 ish at a guess and had spotted these two: Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 4 | Powerful laptop for work | Lenovo UK Lenovo V14 Gen 2 (14" Intel) | 14”everyday small business laptop | Lenovo UK Or similar (there's a few on the Lenovo websitge about that price...
