  1. I had a 1litre Saxo as a site car for a few months... at weekends I used to have max it out on the M18 after late shifts doing live water mains connections so I could get to the pub before last orders. The speedo would just break 100 downhill with a run-up (so maybe 90 in reality) but it was massively better than the Fiesta diesel that preceded it!
  2. Osrams were OE fitment on my 2018 Kodiaq as far as I can tell (all four were. They've been replaced with Nightbreaker +150s
  3. So that would seem to make it significantly more expensive than a traditional ICE vehicle in terms of distance per £ ??
  4. Nearly got wiped out by a Tesla the other day - my residential side street with parked cars so down to one lane for a hundred yard or so uphill stretch - I was already well into the one lane stretch and going uphill when a local Tesla came the other way down the hill and barrelled into the one lane section in front of me, clearly thinking I'd get out of his way by either reversing back down the hill or mounting the kerb. He seemed most put out when I refused to do either and he had to reverse uphill and let me out. Amusingly it was clear he was only using the road as a short-cut between two other roads and in doing so and meeting me had probably wasted more time than if he'd stuck to the main roads...
  5. Just a though but if it was registered in late 2020 isn't that when Australia and New Zealand were in lockdown? If so I wonder if it was a car destined for that market that was diverted here for sale due to lockdown preventing it being imported and sold down under?
  6. Yes does seem very unusual... I'd be interested to know the story too. I suppose it then comes down to whether you still like / want it or not and what the implications for things like insurance would be. What details show up re mot and tax history using the registration number on the DVLA website
  7. I did something similar on our Honda Civic many years ago and 'stuck' it back together with Tiger Seal. It wasn't the prettyest of fixed and needed held in position for a while until it cured but it did the job...
  8. You can do it through live chat on the website - I did this when I purchased ours second hand as I wanted to know what the full spec was and what had been added as 'extras' when purchased by the original owner. They'll need the VIN but were able to respond within a couple of minutes
  9. You'll probably find it's a UK car. They are built in the Czech republic and, from memory the App is pretty useless at identifying 'local' trim levels and often shows the UK SE-L trim as Style. I wouldn't worry about it too much but you can always check the reg etc. on the DVLA website Part are all compatible and mapping can be updated (it's probably been updated by someone who downloaded the wrong set of maps)
  10. Yep seems pretty good. Much better than BMW's recent attempts
  11. Fair enough but I'd argue you're looking at it the wrong way round. In warm dry conditions the differences between a summer tyre and a good all season are small to the detriment of the all season - but in cold wet conditions (which a lot of the UK gets maybe 5 months a year) the differences are massive to the detriment of the summer. I know which I'd prefer to be using as and all year round compromise given the above.
  12. Toad... Frogs tend to be smooth skinned
  13. That will either need a new ignition button or the old one taking out, taking apart and cleaning internally.
  14. Does the Octy 3 have rigid plastic rear pillar trims? If so could something like a rigid pole across the back be 'hung' from the top of them (ie via a small right angle brackets slipped into the top of the trim?)
  15. have you checked the pollen filter cover is correctly fitted?
  16. Can you use a hoover with a flexible crevice tool on it to get the marble out? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Flexi-Crevice-Vacuum-Cleaner-Tool/dp/B002BZHU64
  17. Of the four people at work who have switched to ASHP, all have said the costs of heating and hot water have increased significantly since installation, with one almost doubling... And that's before the added influence of the recent increase in electricity prices. Its absolutely put me off going near one at any time in the near future
  18. A couple of shots of Dunluce Castle from last week...
  19. My 1995 mx5 still has the original tape deck and cd multichanger... Its on a diet of E5 now though for similar reasons
  20. He means the obd11 app which requires 2 factor authentication
  21. I have a quicklynks t55 VAG specific tool from gendan that I used successfully on our 2007 octavia. The cost was about £60 but it can access all modules and includes VAG specific codes etc. It was cheap and cheerful but worked for me, although it doesn't want to talk to our Kodiaq so is probably now surplus to requirements.
  22. Decide where they are going,. Scree through the headlining into a thin sheet of hardboard or hard plastic sheet placed above it by removing the rubber seal around the rear hatch allowing you to place said hardboard accurately. Just be careful that the screws aren't too long that they go through the hardboard and into / through the roof. If you look at retrofit sunglasses holders that's exactly how they fit.
  23. Not necessarily... Manufacturers seem obsessed with fitting more powerful motors with excessive performance to the models that have larger batteries. If they simply fitted the bigger batteries to the models with the less powerful motors you'd get more range
  24. If its only lightweight stuff then I reckon you could put a thin plastic or wooden plank across the top of the c pillar trims behind the headlining to spread the weight and screw through the headliner into that to support some rings or handles. Fishing rods aren't heavy so all it needs is something to spread the load across a large area.
  25. Actually there is an increase in initial installation costs for more load but this gets written off fairly quickly and in terms of maintenance there isn't much difference between a big transformer and a smaller one. So once installed ongoing costs aren't that much different so, spread amongst a larger denser number of customers the standing charge is less.
