Ditto for the diamond silver :)

Here's hoping they give you a tracking number today :)

I hope they get ALL of them right, I can imagine the complaints now, demands for refunds etc... Wish I'd not bothered tbh. And depending on customs I could well lose out too :(

On the bright side, I did get my kit for free. But unfortunately my new car isn't Stardust Silver, so all that hassle and I won't even have a kit for my car! :(

Sell the touch up kit to the guy you sold your car to?

The car is being p/xd. I doubt the kit will arrive before the car goes so I can't even get it looking great before she's chopped in :(

Still, plenty of people have Stardust silver cars, i'm sure its a saleable kit.

Fingers crossed none of the above happens Tom. However, I would point people at the company if there's issues directly relating to the kits the company are supplying.

GOOD NEWS!!!

The kits have arrived! Last night I stayed up late and checked the order was complete with all the right colour codes, and alas the order is spot on.

Some of the kits have a couple of variations of colour in where there might be subtle changes due to model year etc, so it will be a case of seeing which is best. Also I think on some colours there might be a base coat included too (mainly silvers I think), as the colours will show better on these. Theres not many kits with base coats, but where you do have them you will have extra instructions. All the kits have plenty of little brushes and swabs etc, and brilliant instructions too.

I'm sure there won't be, but any problems with the actual kits when they have arrived need to be directed to Dr Colorchips themselves, but let them know you bought the kit through Toms group buy. :)

I'll be getting the kits sorted out in the next couple of days. I'll be aiming to get them to the post office on Monday, which gives me the weekend to label them all up with addresses etc, quite a task with 90 kits to label, write out the recorded delivery slips etc...

If they aren't with you by next weekend let me know, but I'll update the thread again when I've posted them out.

Cheers for your patience everyone, its been a bit of a long slog, but I hope its been worth it.

( at my mum, she was good as gold helping me check the order... thats all the kits lined up in order of make and colourcode, oh the fun!!)

Nice one Tom. Your mum looks quite thrilled.

Cheers for all your effort Tom!!!

AC:thumbup:

Tom, you're awesome! Cheers

Good stuff mate

Re recorded del and writing out stuff etc - worth looking into whether you can complete that sort of thing online with RM these days, could be a bit quicker copying and pasting details in rather than writing :)

Steve

You can do it online, I did for the aquapel GB.

You just need name, house number and post code.

I'd suggest buying some A4 sheets with 2 labels on it for your printer too as then you can pay for and print the postage at the same time :D

Have these gone out yet Tom?

Nothing at this end yet and what with it being RM I can never tell.

Yep, as per post #107 :P these were sent out today. :)

Shouldn't be too long now. :)

Interesting read that, thanks for posting. I've just read all the posts. To me, it seems to be an issue of applying far too much paint, and using the removing solution too quickly?

When I get round to using it, I'll most definitely be claying the area to be treated, and possibly using a paint cleaner (as well). There's the potential for it to go quite wrong it the applied paint ends up sitting on top of waxes/polishes etc

Steve

Many thanks, mine arrived today - no chips to try it on yet and in no hurry to try it out, finger crossed, touching wood etc.

seems theyre going down the route of incorrect application now. the guy cleaned his bonnet with the "wiping off" solution before applying the paint. One of the others has done a test and the "wiping off" stuff also hardens the paint so that may be why it stuck so fast!

received kit today cheers tom

Yep - agree  - does help to know how the stuff works, before you go applying it to your paint :)

Glad the kits are trickling through now

Received mine today also. Can't wait to try it out, however it's got to stop raining first. Cheers Tom

thanks for the effort tom - mine arrived in NI today!

thanks to tom for all the hard work, got mine this morning

my car has recently had a good coating of colinite so could do with making sure theres no wax present in the chips before I use this. Their site says "rubbing alcohol or mineral spirits" to remove it. anything I can buy from B&Q for this as I never know the difference between meths etc. ?? (ive got some megs paint cleaner, would this do the same thing?)

  • Author

Yep, paint cleaner should do just fine. Clay bar probably isn't a bad idea either.
