Coilover ride height

Featured Replies

Right i currently have my coilovers lowerd around 35-40 mm and it handles like a dream but i want to go lower.

Quick question....if i drop it by another 30 mm "ish" will i ruin the handling ?

Just do it!!

Why not ask andy as his is LOW

If you lower it all by the same it should be ok, but you have to watch the SUMP if your dropping the front by 60mm

It can upset the geometery of the suspension if you go too low

yea i remember Jabba telling me it can mess the toe up on the back.....am i useing the correct spelling of toe :D

Dump it.

If you aint scrubbin', you aint bargain-bin-v-dubbin.

andy says his is a bit unstable and was trying to keep up with us threw the twisty's but couldn't.....his is 75mm front 100mm back i think.

whats everyone else with coilovers running them at then ?

If you've still go the adjuster rings on, you're not low enough!

mines are as low as they would go.

fronts are 2" lower than my mates vrs thats been lowered on eibachs

what is everyone running?

I want some cheap ones lol!!

i have vmaxx, wasn't sure i wanted to go for them but they have a 2yr guarantee so nothing to lose. i paid less than £250 fitted

mine was 70mm all round on KW V1's but i had some scrubbing issues with my 18's so went up by 20mm

no probs handling wise just Star couldn't get the alignment close.

with a 50mm drop they have got the geometry spot on but if dropped anymore they wouldn't have managed

Andy also seemed to be in fear of just about every bump in the road  I'd say if you are after performance & handling, you don't need to lower yours any more. If Andy has gone too low and it messes up the rear toe, that may be why it is unstable (or the shocks are reaching the end of their travel). This seems to be a case of "lower is not always better".

I thought that the lower you go, the quicker the insides of your tyres wear out... surely going much lower would just prove to be prohibitively expensive?

pretty much but it looks the ****!

It depends what you want to achieve, if you want looks then slam it. If you want performance and handling, don't. Personally Lewis's car looks fantastic at the height it is, and I can't argue with it's cornering performance :)

/\/\ yeah it is fine with me on the back roads...never caught it once, "touches wood" and i have no problem with the arches.

I just want it to go lower for looks but then like you say it will proberly make a mess of it's already good handling.

so what's the verdict then?

Beedis' 50mm all round?

or LewisGraham's setup... which is what??

wind em down all the way,i'm gonna remove the adjusters from the rear ones on my kw's cos i just can't get the back low enough

you da man!

you da man!
i've been buying more wheels too,but your all gonna have to wait and see:D

but how often do you go on long twisty roads like the meet me had few week back, i like my car the way it looks and it looks pimp in my eyes.

as me and my mate say its not lower enough till it scrapes lol

and tbh it handled spot on, on them roads stuck to the road like glue wasnt realy giving it beans like but wasnt going slow either.

and yeah lewis is correct about 75mm on back and 100mm maybe low but it looks nice.
