Annihilated by a Saxo

Featured Replies

coming home from work the other day and i noticed a saxo closing in on me,as i was moving quickly i put my foot down more so by the time i got to the roudabout it was on my tail,i booted it off the roundabout and it pulled along side, the young girl laughed and she then booted it again, she went past me like i was stood still, she even slowed down to my speed when next to me to wave then went off again,it was a bog standard looking vts,and not even the m3's at the ring went past like that did, what i want to know is what the hell can you do to make a saxo that fast?

  • i do find it funny how some of you rave about how good the 106 gti was yet slate the saxo vts, such comedy.

race cam, supercharger, throttle bodies. Who knows. :D:)

VTS stripped out with throttle bodies probably.

Take heart that if you to both hit a brick wall at 30mph head-on, you'll be walking out the car - Same could not be said for the saxo driver. ;) (in all probability)

It weights now and I'd guess it had a charger of some description on it and some other very serious engine work.

Sounds like you need a heavily modified M3/Jap mobile ;)

did it annoy you more being a saxo or a girlie...

Throttle bodies wont give you as much power as your stating, i'd assume its been Supercharged!!

I bet she wouldnt haved pulled from me that quickly :P

I raced a fiat uni Turbo once in my golf. now my golf at the time was about 180bhp and fully stripped etc. The Uno Pulled from me like my handbrake was on or i was in reverse.... ill never try it on with an uno again!

Beaten by a...

...girl ;)

there are a few Saxos with superchargers knocking around.

dobut anything that had bodies and or cams will have troubled you like that.

Have a 10,000 mile race and the VRS'll win ;)

... on fuel economy ... ;) :P

those boys don't go down the turbo route very often - as far as I'm aware the supercharger is the forced induction weapon of choice.

I had a VTS in my yoof, quality motorz m8. :D

It doesn't matter what car you drive there will always be something faster. If you had a massive budget you could make any car go stupidly fast if you wanted to.

Things got put into perspective just the other night. I was in my mates Golf GT TDI 130 remapped briskly following our mates 106 GTI when from behind I saw a set of angel eyes. Next thing it howls past us two and the six cars ahead of us. It was a brand new BMW M3. Unbelievably quick car. There's us saying our cars are quick but there is stuff out there that could beat us without hardly trying. It's just a question of how much money you have.

I thought the same thing as the DB9 went past me tonight - I saw him a way off and he'd been waiting for a bit of clear air infront - gave me enough warning to turn my stereo down and appreciate the howl

Wake up Gary, it was all a dream....

Indeed. having had a ride in an RS4, that was just *unbelievable* compared to anything else I've been in, both in acceleration and braking: you kept thinking "you'll never make that", and he did, without trying.

I saw a bmw M3csl in my mirror once just going down the slip road of the M40

He overtook an Audi TT and a Merc, just on the slip road

I put my foot down, now iv got a standard octy Mk1 Vrs,the speedo was indicating 149mph

When he caught up he went past me like a bullit train,as if i was stood still

I dont know what their top speed is but it had to be more than 155mph

Its like when I go out on the bike it always reminds me just how slow cars are without spending serious money. My best timed 0-60 on the bike is 2.85 (where being big helps stop the front come up :-) )

That being said I was once out on a Honda Blackbird that I had, now it was quick to 160+ yet my mate on a turbo hayabusa went past me in such a way I was tempted to get off to see if I had stopped!

Always something to beat you, the key is you have fun and if you want that level of performance nothing better to push you into getting there :-)

I concur

there is always something faster than you on the road

just enjoy what your driving

Saying that

Being owned by a girl in a paxo

is a lot to take:D:thumbup:

One of my mates had this problem, but he didn't see it as a good thing and got some help from the NHS

Was it white per chance?

Mate of mine has a Saxo....

It would eat Des's 1.4 for breakfast..... seriously. 320 bhp out of its 1.6 turbocharged little engine.

Edit - It did a 12.9 at 'Pod last December - I'm certain it did better this year sometime.
