i do find it funny how some of you rave about how good the 106 gti was yet slate the saxo vts, such comedy.

I do find it funny how in possibly every praising Fabia thread you're in it to bring it back down again :D

this where you and many others show your red bloodied rose tinted colours as if you read nearly every post about the fabia i have ever made i never really slate it and actually think its a decent car i simply have a grasp on reality and get frustrated with outragious claims of scalping from any car, its just that fabia claims normally seem to be farther exagerated than most :)

I wasn't saying the 106 is better than the VTS as such - I was comparing my different experiences of both cars. Sure, both handle extremeley well, but when I drove the VTS it was just a thrash down a dual carriageway hence I only looked at outright pace. The GTi I had the opportunity to throw about a bit hence my views there.

The 106 IIRC only had different gearing to the VTS, making it a tiny bit slower to 60 as you needed 3rd for it - the VTS could do it in 2nd. Aside from that they're identical.

The GTi does have a better image IMO though. Slightly less boy racer-ish...only slightly.

A mapped vRS though is deceiving I must admit. I'm only 2 weeks in after having mine done and it feels invincible at the moment simply because it's way quicker than standard and also nothing else has tried racing me since LOL. :)

But, it's important to keep your feet on the ground and know that you only have so much power and that there's loads of stuff on the roads that's quicker as standard.

Horses for courses.....the vRS has it's good points and it's bad points. Lad at work has a Clio 172 Cup. Brilliant car I'm sure - quicker and better handling than the Fabia, but I know which one I'd drive to London and back in. ;)

I had a stage 2 Fabia vRS, with suitable handling tweaks, and a Quaife. The Quaife made the biggest difference in some regards for being able to power out of roundabouts/bends etc. It revved to 5kish without a problem. However, it's still a derv, you still change gears earlier than most tuned petrols, and you will run out of steam soon after hitting 3 digits, when the petrol will have another 20-40mph with relatively high acceleration.

Just enjoy your car, on public roads you cant go crazy anyway :)

Not attacking or anything (It's all good fun) but went through your post history Bengie and you do do it a lot  So what if some of the owners here have high expectations of their car? I don't go to the Corsa forums and laugh and point out that they're cars can't do some of the stuff they say they do, i just let them get on with it and have their fun

Freedom of speech? Whoever heard of that?!

never owned either but i was under the impression that the 106gti and vts were mechanically identicle.

the reason i suppose i tend to post is how i use the forums :)

i don't simply look at certain area's i only ever use the new post button so i get to see the entire board so these threads come under my inspection :D

the onyl reason i do it alot is because the claims are frequent :D

Carry on :D

oh no worries there chap nothing gonna hold me back :D

hence the existance of this thread :D

I drive a 600bhp Evo at the weekends and i can quite safely say that it's the best car i have owned to date and fully capable of high speed cornering that other cars can only dream of. I use the VRS for work which is great fun but front heavy and crap traction. + in the evo i do NOT lose traction. I still love the front wheel drive feel mind. My mates Clio Trophey is so much fun. You can spank it everywhere! Most modern 4 wheel drive systems in production cars are ****e and just add extra weight (like Audis) I would much rather own a well setup front wheel drive car like the ctrs, clio trophey, focus RS.

Totally different cars you know.. right down to the badge and a couple of pannels ;)

I thought the panels were actually interchangeable.

:iagree:

the boot lid/bonnet/front wings/bumpers etc are different, its only the main body thats the same i think.

Ahhh, I thought it used to be the fashion to swap them around between the two!

Wasn't the 106 (mk1) just a newer version of the old AX?

I've got nothing against Saxos corsas novas etc just the chav'd ones :P

Edit. Might as well add the furby vrs into the above list now

i don't think so as it was bigger but the mk2 is definitly the same as a saxo

The Saxo, known during its development phase as "Project S8", was launched in 1996 to replace the Citroën AX. The AX ran alongside the Saxo until late 1998 before it ceased production. The Saxo's platform, engines and major components were a development of the AX and were shared with the Peugeot 106 of Citroën's sister company, Peugeot.

Looked on Wiki

Was it white per chance?

Mate of mine has a Saxo....

It would eat Des's 1.4 for breakfast..... seriously. 320 bhp out of its 1.6 turbocharged little engine.

Edit - It did a 12.9 at 'Pod last December - I'm certain it did better this year sometime.

I hate you!! ;)

Umm, Where can I buy a Saxo.

My mate had a 1.1 saxo when i had my E reg 1.1 fiesta....

The saxo was much faster!:rofl:

I'm a little confused here. I've not once said in this thread that the fabia vrs is a good handling car nor did I say it handles better than a 4WD.

I think that the only way to sort this out once and for all is to get a 4WD Fabia vRS, and race it against a FWD vRS.

That would be the only way to find out.?

Anyone got a 4WD vRS... or wants to convert one.?

Gary said the car beat me o the road.

I'll bet you place that girl on the in the same Saxo and Gary in the VRS will be quicker.

She might be able to go fast in a straight line but round corners? Prob not, unless she knows her car.
