has anyone tried an ECU remap from superchips.co.uk?? there is a PDF review on their site from deisel car magazine which looks pretty good and I'm just wondering if anyone has tried these at all

:sofahide:

One word. ****e.

I'm with Geoff on this one! :sofahide:

Not saying a word. :ignore:

The car I test drove had been SC'd and it was ok, but not nearly as quick/smooth/revvy as my Revo'd baby

All I can say is on my vRS Oct. going from S/C to Jabba was chalk and cheese, both in terms of performance and the attitude of the company.

Had mine on for 95k miles.

Not as smooth as the Jabba, nor quite as quick throughout the whole rev range (just in parts).

Would I have another one? Yes.

Didn't ColinD have superchips on his wrc before going to APR?

IIRC...yes.

so basically foget them their Cr@p and get it jabba'd instead then??

From my personal experience I would say so. This was with the petrol vRS as I don't know about their diesel remaps.

From personal experience of Superchip rechip on a tdi - I would not recommend one.

The benefits were smooth power delivery and the warranty cover. The downsides - relatively poor power/torque increase (dyno checked & did not reflect Superchips' claim) and pricey.

Other options beyond Jabba for diesel...

Superchip on Octy Petrol was not nice, okay it was okay...but yes chalk and cheese once back to APR :D

Alot of options for Diesel, from conservative to limit pushing, both will spook me and suffice to follow on most spirited runs, I'm actually not sure the fab needs tuning, seems quick enough to me on the roads.

true the fab probably does nt need tuning but, I really wanted either a golf 150 tdi or a leon cupra tdi and couldn't afford it so it would make me so much happier if I could get the car to around 150 ish or a little higher, I know its silly but if it makes me happier with the car it has to be worth it

had superchips on my 330d.

honestly, not just saying it to go with the crowd but it was utter tosh and a waste of money.

You can't say much fairer than that :D

When i got the Octy re-mapped, i seriously considered REVO and was on the verge of getting it done but decided against it when i read all the good reports about Jabba, and i wasn't disappointed :)

If i was doing it today...

It would be a straight fight between Jabba with Boost Control, and the APR system that Colin, Huck & Ffelan have.

Anyone else wouldn't be in the running i'm afraid :)

Unfortunately, from a TDi point of view its not so clear cut.

APR dont tune TDi.

And the other mainstream options tend to be AmD, Starchip, Revo, Jabba or a tuning box.

AmD are pricey (especially the custom map). but the oneclick idea is a good + point (if they still do them)

Revo - highest power output, generic map, tend to go for sharp surge of power (look at the dyno graph in the Revo section of Mobtobs vRS). they also have a nationwide dealer network and can be installed quickly

Jabba - Custom map, can be tuned to your individual needs if your brave and know what you want. produce smooth progressive curves.. home of the "its whats underneath the lines that count" BUT have had several minor hitches with fabias due to the ecu encryption. also theres a 2 month or so wait

Tuning box... pricey for the performance increase. but they are removeable if need be.

which one would i choose??? errm, i dont know. ive got no idea of how each of them drive. the SPS on revo is tempting.. but TBH im gonna hang on a while until diesel tuning is a bit more established... i like the idea of the jabba PD controller

Rumour has it that our local superchip dealer was using Jabba chipped cars as demonstrators. Says it all really

It would be very interesting if that could be proven...

Knowing and proving are 2 different things, mate of a mate used to work for them.

seriously though, it was an absolutely horrid peaky remap with spikes/power/torque in all the wrong places. yuk!!

don't want to speak for others but a quick search will also show what ColinD thought of his initial Superchips remap after he got APR'd.

full of glowing praise for superchips iirc.............
