All out with their caravans i assume :)

Think pete must have had one too many 'cups of tea' :D

tea hee

Any of you caravaners got any tips on how to clean the roof in a more responsible and safe fashion other than hangin onto a wobbly ladder, sponge in hand? Gonna end up in 'ossy at this rate...in a box! :D

Bought one of those long handled brush things that click onto your hosepipe. Another waste of money..can't apply any downward pressure on the useless lump of bristle

Seems perfectly reasonable to ask them not to cause (even more of) an obstruction at rush hour.

Makes perfect sense to ask slower vehicles (trucks etc included) to stick to the inside lane, but if you have the power to pull out and overtake at 70mph then why should you stay in the slow lane at 50 with the wagons?

It's basic common sense, you don't pull out at 52mph if you see people behind that will have to slow down because of it.

Same goes for smarts. ;)

thats what happens when w4nkers are allowed into positions of making decisions

why should an outfit that is perfectly capable of going at the legal limit be penalised just because of a few gobby anti caravanners - and what about whores-boxes

I agree, a great way to unwind..I frequent the Lakes most other weekend to escape the rat race and sample some outstanding golf courses in doing so and pay just the Country memebership fees ! ha ha .

Caravans are well worth the money = double glaxing , central heating low maintenance not like my 4 bedroom house ! Its a monster !

Only drawback is carnt really have a good "tom tit" when the outlaw visits !! Make sure theres boiled eggs in the fridge !

Good to see this thread back again. Have some fun in here tonight bleh.gif

Just looking through the caravan club manual to see where to go next!

That's the fantastic beauty of 'sheds on wheels', you can just nip away for the weekend to Wales, lake district, peak district, bbq, fine scenery, nice people, kids are happy (ish!) Mrs CJ happy  and me feet up, box of wine, fine cigar, and a motoring mag!bleh.gif

All for approx

Surely that's the best way to get rid of the outlaw :D

I'd really like a caravan but SWBMO thinks we wouldn't use it enough because I'm too busy.

Hopefully I'll get to enjoy the splitty for a bit before I sell it on.

Not really a caravan person, tried it and liked it once there, it was just the towing that was a pain. I'll stick to my tent for the time being, well, until I get too old and senile ;)

Any news on the New Year's bash CJ?

How much you selling the tent for then?

Far cough! ;)

CJ, re cleaning the roof; my dad uses some stuff on his, seems to work really well. He also uses polish on it which really seems to help. Previously he used to use normal car polish (now that is a bugger to apply when stood on top of a ladder). For some reason the name Fenwicks seems to come to mind, but I'll ask him when I see him tomorrow.

Just done a quick google on it; www.fenwicks.info seems to work pretty well.

Cranked the old thread up again last night Jon, due to increasing interest  Even got Pete, Teatotal my bottom, interested..sort of..now too!

Think it may be either morbid curiosity,or he'd slipped something in with the tea bag!! :P

edit..Jon, thought fenwicks made sweets for old grumpy men like me bleh.gif

The Fenwicks stuff seems to work and my Dad swears by iy (rather than at it).

Oh and my name was on the original list :p

Thanks for that Jon, had a quick beak at the site. Will have a BIGGER look tonight, and see if i can trace a local stockist.

Roof cleanig really is a very dangerous pastime. Mrs CJ likes me doing it though. Always asks me dozy questions while I'm up the wobbly stepladder, like....."where did you leave the life insurance docs luv"

Don't worry about the list fellah. You will be top of it!

I think I may have been on the list as a tenty person.

Remember watching caravan racing at Thruxton when I was a kid, now thats how caravans should be treated, the one that rolled in the complex was a sight to behold, 2 Wheels, an angle iron frame & a pickup full of bits, the car towing was a Mk 1 escrt fitted with a modded 3 litre V6 & that remained remarkably un marked

Don't worry about it, its only "guidance" and seeing how the M5 was full of caravans in every lane the other day it looks like most of them have ignored it completely :)

BTW - I don't have any problem with those that are capable of driving at a reasonable speed and respecting other road users and do so. However, there do seem to be quite a lot of idiots who either overtake at 1mph more than the vehicle they are overtaking or (even more worrying) those that drive at a solid 90mph even when its windy (followed, a long way behind miond, one of them a few weeks ago   :Yikes: :sofahide: ). I agree on horse boxes - seem to have a breed of arrogant "own the road" types in many of them!
