must admitits hard to concentrate on this forum now - keep looking at the other one

off to the pyrenees later in the summer so looking for any ideas on there

just got the ferry booked but nothing else - will head south and stop where we see a nice sight

oh the joys of a caravan

:thumbup::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Oi marc, don't you dare be jumping ship. I need you in here for a bit of support!

Just joined myself by the way! Will be using the same name too.

They'll all think we are sad in here..who cares lar de dar de dar dum!

And,Oi Andy,is it this whole bottle of red I've just guzzled to myself ..hic! or have you just changed from tee to tea total and if you are teatotal doesn't that mean you do drink tea only or am i teatotally off my head now with this double vision inducing juice I'm swiggin'! :D

back again -all this rushing from one forum to another is wearing me out

anyway...where have all the numpties gone??

its getting a bit quiet in here - have we upset 'em all?

Prob just given us up as a lost cause marc!

You going under the same name too?

Have registered but havn't said owt yet.

Sorry this is still my main source of enjoyment  actually quite enjoy the arguements and MOST of the heated exchanges

Hmm, missed most of this discussion because I was away in Cromer in my caravan, brilliant 10 days, im gonna have to make this a quick post, because im off to cornwall for a month on Saturday...yes with my caravan

Can you guess which side of the fence im sitting on

I agree with everything said by CJ et al

I also happen to agree with drivng tests for people towing caravans, BUT where does that leave people like me ? HGV driver for 20 years, would I have to take a test also ? as things stand now, I am allowed to pull a 45ft trailer weighing 44 tons all up, so do I really need another test to prove my competence to tow a caravan ??

If your going to tax caravans, then fine, but tax ALL trailers and cycles as well (dunno, I just dont like push-irons)

you will usually find that when theres a queue of vehicles behind a caravan, its not the caravan at fault, its the dipsh*t in the little car just behind him who needs a 20 mile clear stretch of road and a written invatation to pass that holds everything up

ah well, gotta go and get things sorted ready for pixieland

CJ , thought you might like this one ...........a forum , not for sad Skoda owners , like us , but for sad caravan owners [url']http://www.caravanning-online.co.uk/caravan_talk.htm[/url]

Wonder if I can get away with classing the splitty as a caravan.

Should have it finished soon too.

Hey, that's why we haven't been getting overwhelming support in here!

All the caravanners are away enjoying themselves!

I thought Mavrik, that you were a rozzer. Must be two of you in here.

Good point that quite often it is the whelk in the car immediately behind the caravan that won't overtake thet causes all the probs.

Andy,if you can kip n cook in it,it's classed as a motorhome, which is in essence a caravan with an engine,or in your case...a rumour! :D

Well I'm on the caravanning support side, and I'm not a caravanner - just grew up with it, even with a sister I didn't get on with ( Hi Tracey! :slap: :hbomb: :D) I still enjoyed it as a kid and will probably find myself caravanning within 5 years, and trust me, no-one will get held up behind me!

Especially great with motorsport events..

Totally agree, on my way back from Skye last week, lovely open roads, but came upon a good 25 + car queue, all nose to tail and nobody making a move, all at 35mph or thereabouts, slowed down for the sweeping corners of Scotland.

Was very annoying, but it was not a caravan, not found a "bad" caravanner for years. It was a picasso! But as Mav says it's the nose to tail people behind.

It took a good few miles and some perhaps some would think rude overtaking (hanging out on the right, indicating left till they made a gap for me. Right hand traffic merging?) but what else was I to do...incidentally looking back on my work the traffic was now spread out and others were beginning to overtake.

There were places I'm sure even if I was towing I could quite easily of overtaken, but as it was bunched up I would not of like to repeat what I did with an extra 15ft of alluminium and plastic out the back.

Not sure I would go caravanning, it's the getting there and back; I'd miss my B road shortcuts round the A55 queues. A nice merc transporter camper van would do, I could run to that quite easily.

Spent the week in a static, with the next stop being the North Pole, very nice and comfortable, despite being a very old static, rustic I think they call it...more so than some 50 quid pp pn hotels I've used.

Hopefully it will purr this weekend - only all the interior to put back in then

Keep true to VAG get a real camper.

Geoff, wanna race a caravan? I'll give you a drag race, Merc E55 AMG estate and a caravan. Strangely enough, other road users get very upset when you outdrag them from lights, down motorway slip roads and along country roads. I like playing chicken with the cruise control :D

I am already a member of ukcampsite one, it was the just caravanning one that I was on about. They have been very usefull.

Nice to see a lot more positive feedback isn't it!

As Marc said Colin D,well done for starting a very interesting thread off. Been some excellent comments, with a good smattering of humour built in from both sides of the fence

First time I've really noticed you post in here Mavrik. Don't seem much of a nightmare to me fellah. ;) Bet you've got some good and bad trucking tales to tell us all about on another thread p'raps?

Thinking about this subject in particular, but could be applied to any really,I reckon that those that discuss in a fair, sensible, humourous, and reasoned manner, all the aspects of what others may see as a major problem, are normally the ones that care about that subject, and want to help more passionetly than those that don't discuss, and as a consequence don't give a stuff for you me or anyone else!

Ey that sounded a bit deep for me...hope you understand my drift!

well my little viper thinks im a nightmare (The wife)   but only when she dreams about me:rofl:

I get your drift on the discussion, and I agree entirely with ya, it is nice to see the other side of the coin as it were, upto me retiring from driving, I always hated caravans, but now I got one, after much nagging and moaning from my little viper, I LOVE caravanning, in fact, we love it so much that as I said in my first post, we just back from 10 days in Cromer, and we off to Cornwall for a month tomorrow night, then back for a couple of weeks, then off up to Scotland for a while, then its home till after Christmas, then all being well, we off to Europe for 12 weeks or so

That of course is all being well, best laid plans of mice and men etc etc

I just hope it all works out for us

:thumbup::D :D :D

Hi Mavrik

name sounds very familiar......sure I saw you on a certain other site mentioned earlier in this thread!

marc

Might have a sniff in 'there' tonight, say 'ello and see what's goin on. May be some tips on how to deal with overagressive numpties that hate caravans p'raps ;)

Have you heard Ken Bruce on radio 2,going on about 9 campervans from france, driving in convoy through the highlands of scotland?

He doesn't seem to like them either
