i only had one key given when i brought the car!!!!:(

Stereo should turn itself off after 1hr, or did you leave the keys in the ignition? Is the car still under warrenty, or have breakdown cover, if so call the RAC, breakdown providor, otherwise I guess you are left with the option of breaking the cheapest piece of glass:(

If the drivers door led is now flashing, then the deadlocks are enabled so make sure that if you go the window breaking route you pick one that you can reach the keys from because the doors will not open even with the interior handles.

Update! Called the aa and added Home start to my policy. Hopefully they can jimmy the locks open!!!

Mental note for me is to sort out a second key! Does anyone know how much this could be??????

For a simple key that just works the locks, not to expensive. It starts to cost money if you want one that also starts the car and has remote locking.

Update! The AA came, long gone are the days of a bit of wire down he window sleeve!

It only took him about 5 minutes from start to finish. Scary really considering he caused no damage what so ever. Im still going to get a second key for it. I think I better get one that starts the car etc too just in case!!!!

Has anyone else had to get one? If so how much did you pay and where from????

Cheers!

Obviously doesn't help if you've just locked the keys in, but you can get something like a Clifford callguard installed. It can be installed so that you can lock and unlock the doors by sending a text message. You could also have it set up so you can kill the fuel pump by text message, if for example you have been car jacked. Managed to pick one up myself on ebay cheaply but not had the time to install yet :D Oh and that obviously doesn't help if you left your phone in the car too :D

I was going to say you need a rubber door stop thing that looks like a slice of cheese, carefully pull out the top of the door and squeeze it in and then use a long bit of coat hanger to the door handle, pull it twice and it will open.

There's not many places that sell them unfortunately - I think it's more meant to be sold alongside a professional approved installation. Cheapest buy it now on ebay is currently £260 inc delivery excluding installation. Clifford Callguard 2.1 FITTED FROM £299.99 Clifford Callguard 2.1 Pager [callguard] - £219.99 : Online Shop, CliffordProductsDirect for all your security needs is probably the cheapest place at £220 or "from" £300 installed (which I assume means if you want it wired to do certain things like lock/unlock doors it costs more).

I managed to pick up one off ebay for £100. It seems they tend to go for about that price when they occasionally turn up with a low start and no reserve so probably worth setting up a saved search alert.

The main purpose is to send you a text message if your alarm is set off. There are a total of 5 outputs, controlled by sending text messages to it. 3 are pulsed one second 500mA each negative (for locking/unlocking doors, popping boot etc). 1 is latched 500mA negative (one suggested use is to use it to activate a fuel pump kill relay). The remaining 1 output is positive and 1A, and can be latched or turned on for 30 seconds (the recommended use for this is a siren). There are a total of 4 inputs. 3 are negative (for things like open doors/boot/alarm sensors), the other is positive and intended to be connected to the siren. When these are triggered a message is sent to the assigned phone.

All a bit of overkill for my car, and worth more than the car  So far I've only just hooked it up to my car battery outside the car and sent it messages. But I can have fun practising messing with electrics on a car I don't mind so much about and hopefully I'll know how to take it out and put it in another car before scrapping it :D One of the reasons I did get it is visitors to neighbours seem to like messing with my car so if they try owt it could be used as a silent alarm, and I could hopefully take a piccy to pass on to police as hard evidence :D

No, it won't. See Manny's post (#5).

It should do if mine are locked i can open them with two pulls. Might depend what its been programmed as.

It shouldn't be possible to lock the keys in the car! The car only auto locks when a door has not been opened which was obviously done in the first place to put the keys in. After this my car will not lock itself.

Also the boot auto locks after a few seconds with the engine running but again the car doors should not lock. You must have a central locking fault for this to have happened in the first place.

Was quoted about £80 for a new key for a Seat Leon the other week from a Seat main dealer, Skoda should be about the same. You can pay £30 for just a new key that will open the door and start the car but it's £80 if you want it to work the remote locking as well.

I think you're wrong. Have you tried locking your car (with the remote, single press, key out of ignition) whilst inside it?

Depends if you locked them from inside or deadlocked them with the key.

If you use the key that shouldn't work.

cheers chicken eyebrow! i will investigate that! but from what octavia vrs said, i had the keys in the ignition but not on so the stereo would work. only had the passenger front door open and i stupidy shut it as i went around the car to get the keys out. it had self locked as i was working on the speaker with the door open.

does the 'door open' symbol come on the dash when the passenger door is open. check all the doors, and the dash lamp.

you might have a bust door open sensor switch thingy. my drivers side door one only recognises the door as open half the time, so you have to be careful with leaving the keys in the car if you havent started it yet, or opened any other doors.

also, you cant open the doors from the inside if you locked it with the keyfob (unless you double clicked to disable the deadlocks). I locked my missus in the car as a joke the other day and she had a fit! The unlock button on the drivers door doesnt even work when you do this. It's quite good for trapping people!

as for new keys there is a thread on here for new key and immobilisor programming much much cheaper than the garage.

Yes it is, we get calls for this all the time, dont know how people do it but they do.

Also, with the car locked, people press the unlock boot button open the boot and do whatever often putting the keys in the boot while they do, then shut the boot without picking up the keys. The boot locks itself on closing with the keys often deadlocked inside.

Keep the keys in hand or in the pocket of the clothes you are wearing, not the jacket or bag you have just taken off and put in the boot!

I Did that but I had a spare set of keys I think you will have to get some technical help as you wont get by with a coat hanger like the old cars. I have had a problem with dancing locks which was interesting. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had that with a previous car - turned out to be broken wires in the loom to the door intemittently shorting out when the door was opened or closed, and also sometimes when you went over bumps.

If your car has deadlocks and it is still doing it I suggest you get it sorted sooner rather than later.

Have you ever been able to cary out my experiment from post 16? All the cars I've seen have the system I've described, and I'd be interested to know whether any don't.

My gaffa did this 450miles away from home hahaha! DHL wanted nearly £300 for same day delivery of the spare. I laughed my nuts off, anyway stopped him turning up to watch us doing the job!
