The mongrels HID installation! Pics!

Lots of newer cars have projectors (Octy II for example) and lots also have deflectors.

Jason, you really need to fit something to them to stop the forward projected light mate, it's pretty shocking as if the camera picks it up then while your eyes might not somebody with mild cataracts etc would be pretty much blinded by it.

Er, isnt that pic from the side there pointing at anyway? Ie nearside?! So unless the person with cataracts is walking along the path (which would not really cause a major problem i doubt) i dont think its a big deal is it?

i bought a £35 kit off eBay. it is works brilliantly. i thought what could i lose at that price...... and the answer is nothing. everything is included i wnt for 8000K i think. way better than standard halogen

matt1chelski has a good point there, the photograph is taken from the nearside, which is where the beam is mainly angled anyway! The photograph should be taken head-on or offside.

I went to the stealers the other day in Newton Abbot, they wanted £400 each side for a genuine xenon projector replacement headlamp unit, it came with everything though bulb etc included.

We need the likes of 'Ultra' to make a decent set of RHD projector units for the fabia, then all of this glare b****ks would be a thing of the past.

Yes - doing that would be expensive. The only value way I can envisage to do it is to get the parts of a scrapper. Assume you went to Murrays did you? Good guys in there and handy for getting odd buts & bobs for my motor. :)

Yeh Murrays are quite good, gave me a nice 1litre bottle of Shell Helix cheap when i needed it! I usually have mine serviced at JC Vehicle Services, off of Penn Inn going up towards Milber, hes a good chap - knows his VAG cars well. I need to see this car of yours anyway sometime! See what these Xenons look like too :D

They're only HIDs, not Xenon. Plus it seems there is a small issue with mine, so they're coming out to be replaced by the halogens again, until it's all sorted out soon. :)

I have heard reports that the cheap chinese HID's off eBay don't last, the ballasts give up, and they are badly screened and can interfere with the cars electronics.

My friend fitted some to his motorbike and they caused all sorts of ECU problems, he ended up going back to standard in the end.

I think HID's would look a lot better in normal lenses if they were the less blue ones... I.e. 5000k.

Have been considering these myself.

Image whows 5000k on the right and 6000k on the left.

I prefer the 5000k as they have a less chavvy look about them and have a whiter/brighter light!

Could you not get a projector style lamp for the fabia and would that not improve things?

This is why I've gone to 5000K anti glare bulbs in the Leon.

Less blue giving it an OEM look & you can see the reduction in glare around the botom of the headlamp.

see on the pic from the front of the car the pass mirror is completly colour coded and the drivers is black at the bottom ! did any1 else notice ? its like a spot the difference ! hee hee lol
