I Have been toying with this question since I got the car I have a discount price for a custom map and 2 rolling road tests £180 all in if done before end of Jan from a place I trust on lots of recommendations from happy customers.

CAr is today standard and I do not intend doing anything to it bar the brakes to the bigger ones, map im looking to get around 170bhp and as ive seen spec for the standard fly is max 300ft lbs so I looking at 285-290ft lbs to not take the mickey

celtic tuning has told me that they will map to 180 and 310 ftlbs and that its well within the limits of standard car ......... (from what ive read on here I strongly disagree) and thats a generic map they have which is a lil more expensive with no rolling road

I would suggest handling and suspension improvements before more speed. The vRS is fast enough as standard I think. Just my opinion...

Bang for buck thats pretty amazing!

Given that my custom RR map from Jabbasport was over £400.

Would be careful though as normally "if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is" but if you trust them....

Agree with Tailhappy though about suspension - even if its just a RARB, which is still the best mod i've done as it completely changes the feel of the car!

I think its practically meaningless to answer this question without you telling us who is going to do the work.

I've heard from a few people down here that the Celtic Tuning generic maps have pretty bad spikes in them...

agree 100% - had a generic map on my Ibiza Sport PD130 and all the extra power and torque arrived in one massive peak resulting in wheel spin, black smoke and not a lot else! Wide custom spread acheived by Jabba much more usable:thumbup:

Do you mean the RARB that goes under the car or the one that you put through the middle of the boot?

Well if it's the only thing you intend to do with regards to increasing the engines performance then i'd go with it, that is as long as you've budgeted to at least improve the brakes fairly soon after it's done.

The one under the car:

Fabia VRS ARB

I quite like being able to get my shopping home!

Yes that was my thoughts too!

i've got a map from jabba with about 170bhp and near 300lbs/ft of torque!

its about right! no turbo trouble and no clutch slip and the standard brakes handle it well! had a harsh map of about 180ish and more torque before which killed my kkk

now i have coilies and Rarb i feel comfortable on the corners now whereas when standard i didn't want to risk it!!

Not from Celtic.

What is your car not doing for you now that you think a re-map would solve?

not doing anything wrong remaping would be pointless as a cure to a fault but 130 bhp or maybe a lil more as its a blt is still a lot lower than a lot of my past toys :D my old 300zx was at around 340bhp fuel prices took the biscuit in the end didnt want to keep throwing money into it :( but god what a car

Brakes, suspension and then a clutch...Is it all worth it?????

Been down that slippery road of tuning with my old Octy vRS, it "NEVER" just stops with the last tuning item.

I wouldn't bother.

If you had to ask the question in the first place, you will probably never be happy with it

I need a chip badly!! :(

I need a chip badly!! :(

Why?

I've been there done that. I'm happy with the standard map plus RARB, 312mm with decent pads and Super dot 4. If I was in a position to spend money I'll look at springs/dampers next before a remap.

just my opinion.

This is the route I'm going down too. I've decided against the remap mainly because there's much more stress on components and things like clutches and turbo's are more prone to go and being a student can't afford to spend all my money on fixing things.

I've been toying with it for ages, but probably won't monkey with it - clutch issues, turbo issues, further upgrades etc. I'll probably just change car, and something more powerful (that also FEELS as quick, hehe!)

If its celtic....... avoid like the plague ;)

tbh standard vs. mapped theyre isnt a great deal in it... worth subjecting the turbo and clutch to more strain?

I'd happily have a standard one than replace a clutch again

Really?! why do people get a remap done then? surely that extra power and torque will provide more oomph/go?!

Im also a great believer that its down to the driver how you put that extra torque down, if you drive it hard, and from low revs all the time then your asking for trouble! If you treat the car well and drive it properly then I really think that the clutch will be alright.

I say go for it, providing that the tuner is one of the recommended ones on this site!

Si

Why are you asking about a remap if the cars going into storage, according to one of your other posts?????

Just check the insurance hike first :)
