Forge Diesel Dump Valve

Featured Replies

When i got the frubie i was sure i wanted a dump valve, even if it didnt do anything for performance, i really wanted the WOOOOSSHHHHHH! but after reading all the various (expert in some cases) reviews and opinions, i decided against it. You seem to be the first to come out and say its made a difference, maybe post some graphs?

Jus me 2p worth

I'm sorry TonyR6. But i have had a forge dump valve fitted to the vrs for about 6months now. But keep taking it off becuase every time it dumps the pressure when lifting off the throttle, it has terrible lag, becuase the system has no pressure left in it. Definately spoils the performance, but i just bought it for the sound, it really is cool (im only 21 and have a mental age of 10, so think silly noises are cool, lol).

On a serios note, as mentioned in previos thread, if you are experiencing increaced performance with the dump valve on, it may mean somthings wrong with the turbo, egr. . . etc.

Happy dumping.

p.s. I got ripped too when i told the guys i bought one, lol.

Damn. Not sure what I did wrong there, I must have truncated the links when I copied it from another thread :o

All this dump and woosh, reminds me of a bad curry I had last week. All behind me now.

if they increased performance all the big power furbies that have been pro tuned would have them.

runs to buy one.........

Haaaa. I like to keep my boost seeing I paid for it. Everyone else can get a coating in unburnt "diseasal" when I go past, whooooooooooooooooooooosh

Yikes thank god i missed this thread....

Erm they do jack on a derv lol, but the forge ones do actually sound quite sweet but i could see it becoming a pain in the a55... good if you could turn it off for a bit once it starts to bug

Ive still got it connected, just taken the power away from it :D happy days.

Will enjoy boost for going to work, then maybe switch it back on at the weekend, see how i feel.

Yup - and there's never going to be one on mine! I want that boost to stay up high during gearchanges so I can keep it in optimum performance mode.

Or batman style smokescreen mode as I prefer to call it :P

Only reason I can think to have a dump valve on a "diseasal" (sp OK Babs?) is to prevent catastrophic overboost and turbo failure.

This isn't something the average factory or stage 1 furby owner need bother themselves about. With remaps available for £200-£300, tuning boxes and dump valves aren't even a cost effective way of increasing power.

I wanna dump! I wanna dump! Dump, dump dump

I have been going around town dumping everywhere, and the attention you get is out of this world!

I think he means that the only attention you get is when you aren't on planet earth.

i posted a similar question on freds tdi page about 5 years ago..jeez i got knocked down for that :o but it made me understand the tdis a whole lot better:)

Ooo im lovin this bitch fighting!!!!

I dont know how dump valves work or if theyre beneficial or not but just to fuel the fire im going to say...they are rubbish, dont work and are a waste of money!

Looks fine to me

11. Blow-off valves or BOV or similar

Since people insist upon asking about these devices, they need to be discussed ... The purpose of a "blow-off valve" or "diverter valve" on a gasoline engine is to give boost pressure someplace to go when the throttle plate is abruptly closed, to prevent operating the compressor in the "surge" regime. Since a diesel engine doesn't have a throttle plate, a gadget like this serves absolutely no purpose and has no business anywhere on a diesel engine. "But I like the cool noise ..." Too bad, this discussion is focused on things that WORK. Even if you manage to find some way to make such a device work, the noise of people "in the know" laughing at you because they realize that it has absolutely no place on your engine will drown out the noise that the device itself makes.

Installation: Impossible. Cannot be made to work even if you insist upon it.

Advantages: None.

Disadvantages: Won't work. People who actually know how a diesel engine works will laugh at you for even considering it. You are your own warranty.

Cost factor: Too much, all things considered.

Cautions specific to this modification: Won't accomplish anything.

Suggested modifications in parallel: Irrelevant.

"Bang for the Buck": One hundred percent total waste of time and money.

What if I want more? Do something that actually accomplishes something ...

Love this response lol, Neily you are a legend lol

But on a more constructive note as said above surely the "BIG" boys with their heavily tuned ones would have one if it was any good?!?!? just my 2 pence worth.

Yep - This is true, but that's a "bleed valve" not a dump valve. A bleed valve will see boost heading above a pre-set level, determined by a controller/tiwddly knob, and simply release any (unsafe) boost over that level. Probably just sounds like a leak. This is mainly for those people who run stock turbos, but have dodgy remaps (all too prevalent in the US/Canada from what I read on TDIclub)

Hi

One of the issues that you could be having is the wiring of it

On the Forge`s one , they have a self learning ECU and will learn the way of driving

When we fitted the last one , we fitted it with a switch so it could be turned off when not wanting to have the sound

The blow off valve WILL NOT give any gains or will it loose the power

Anyone who thinks that they are wrong? sorry I have one to go on to my car too:D and I am soooo looking forward to it

its a gimmick, pure and simple.. serious tuners need not apply :)

  • 1 month later...

if it serves no purpose whatsoever and doesnt do anything why the hell is it been made and sold?

Gimmick value I suspect.
