Briskoda Super Rally Day 12th July

Featured Replies

OK, well I think I will just back down on this one and let you have your opinion then, your right it's not a 'car wash event' and I don't think it was ever meant to be?

The Mods have tried to bring some fun into the day and offer something that is common at all shows........

Yes that is correct it is "my" opinion and yes i do have a right to it too, just like you have an opinion that everytime you stop anywhere you need to get out and wipe the car clean again.

I understand the mods are trying to bring fun to the day, but like every other car event ive been to (trax springing to mind and not the skoda lot) everyone gets out their buckets of water and spends the rest of the day washing their car.

All I was trying to point out was surely the idea of the meet was for everyone to get together etc, not spend the day washing the car and not having time to do anything else before driving a good few hours home (for some).

Surely it be more interesting to see if the products that each member swears by actually live up to the claims and last out from when they leave home to when they get to Gaydon, than get to Gaydon and then wash it again?!?! just an idea ;)

Don't know which events you've gone to, and which sections of Trax that was - but "all day"?

I'm with Baker - what's the issue with making sure you're car looks like best it can for a national enthusiast meeting of the marque? Yes it's about the people there, but it's the cars that bring us all together in the first place :)

Of course this is weather dependant, but if possible I'll be doing a little sprucing up when I arrive

I'm sure we'll all enjoy the day though

Cheers,

Steve

Like I said Paul we will just agree to disagree..........:o

I personally don't feel 'that everytime you stop anywhere you need to get out and wipe the car clean again'............

Both myself and Jules will be helping out on the day so I won't be spending 'all day' cleaning the car, we are only talking about a quick wipe over........:o

I think that the mods have done a great job to organise something and just wanted to add something else to the show that's all and I think it's evident with the numbers turning up and the interest in some of the activities that it will be a success.........

Nothing more than a wipe & dry for me. If it's raining I won't even bother with the drying - just make sure there's enough Collinite on it for it to still look reasonable.

Hey Guys no need to fall out over the bucket and leathers!!

We could always ban buckets, suds and leathers and just meet.

Biggest issue you might face is finding a tap and not leaving soapy suds all over the car area.

It's intended to be a fun day not a do or die I have the most polished motor, sure take pride in your car and it's appearance - everyone to their chosen taste.

I have absolutely no intention of washing my car for the day - but then its not a Skoda!

See you all Sunday Rain or shine (no pun honest)

Thanks

John

Maybe if it rains we could have a "Dirtiest Boot" competition.....

Smoky remaps to have a handicap imposed!

I agree with John, im not wanting to fall out with people on here over soap suds, all i was suggesting was a ban on the site to make it more interesting to see how peoples products worked out other other brands. Feel free to wash your cars all day, it was just an idea and thought it be more intersting that way. I wont be there washing my car as we all know baker has won before the competition has started and many of us know we wont have our cars to that standard. Still may the best man win and good luck to everyone!! (hint im trying to defuse things here and not start a flame war).

Simbo ill be glad to come over and chat to you!!

Well if you get up real early you might see the skoda ones on the back of a transporter getting delivered:D

forecast says 60% chance of rain, eeek! wheres the heat wave gone?!

my car will be washed on friday night ready for the rolling road day on saturday at jkm and then we head towards the banbury holiday inn where were staying saturday night - that means a few beers and frankie and bennies sat night as thats next to the hotel!

anyone else staying there? j11 m40.

Hey Guys, no need to fall out over the bucket and leathers!!

don't talk about a bucket and leather's. that will upset them, as you need at least 2 buckets and piles of microfiber cloths and drying towels :D:rofl:

I'm well looking forward to it.

Also you don't have to put your car into the show and shine section....so therefore no need really to wipe it down when you arrive. Just I find clean cars generally look better on phtotos.

Having looked at the vastness of the Gaydon site on google earth, wherabouts do we actually go when we drive in, or it will it be blindingly obvious on arrival?

We're just going to follow you in Jason... so hope you know where you're going?!

There was talk of having some 'marshals' to direct people etc so I'm sure we'll be pointed in the right direction!

There will be some 'Marshalls' but believe me if you get lost then 'abandon ye all hope who enter in'

After entering site follow signs for Museum Heritage centre ( which involves last turning at a mini roundabout after passing Jaguar and Aston Martin centre on RHS)

As you drive down this 'spine road' you will see a large carpark area on the Left hand side immediately in front of the Museum entrance. This is our designated area for Briskoda.

There might even be the odd sign to help those challenged by the above guide

Simple!

John for those who cannot follow the signs you could put up sat nav co ordinates ;) but then those who cant follow the abov eprobably are confused when the sat nav says take the next left.

You don't need sat nav there are damm great Brown signs on the M40 which tells you where to turn off and then follow.
