How many miles from a tank

Featured Replies

How many miles do you guys get out a tank full of the black stuff ?? also how big is the tank ??

Oh Fabia vRS

Cheers Tal

If I use the vent, 450 miles or so - 45mpg on average

Hmm was thinking it would be nearer 550..... oh well better than the 15-20mpg I get now

*hmph* sulks at his hideously monstrous petrol consumption.....although...largely in part to his driving technique

it is a 40litre/10 gallon tank and i regularly get between 45-50mpg in town driving, 50-60 on the motorway and 20-30 when booting it.

About 450 miles to a tank when vented. Sometimes less. Never more.

The tank on the vRS is according to the handbook is 45 litres. ( I'm not sure if this is brim full ). There are about 1.75 pints to the litre so the tank is 9.84 gallons. If your average is 45mpg then the range would be 442.8 miles and so on.

( not sure why I started this reply now !!! )

Without wanting to sound stupid... what does "when vented" mean?

Theres a button on the side of the filler pipe you press with nossel to vent air from the tank, allowing you to cram a bit more fuel in. I tend to get just short of 500 miles a tank, my last 99 hours of driving is averaging 52.4mpg. One advantage to the basic TDi :D

ive never seen a button on a petrol pump thingy - am i blind?

Today I got 450 miles on a tank with the computer saying there was another 80 miles to go  What's more impressive was that was without using the vent-trick and since I put the tuning box on, fuel economy has increased from 47mpg up to 52mpg and that was "keeping up with the traffic, officer" ;)

54 Mpg since I have had the car.... 5500 miles in 3 months !!

Look inside the fuel filler pipe on your car having first removed the filler cap. You will see the vent valve on the RHS of the filler. Read this thread for more information.

I got 515 Leeds to Worthing and back and with only 3K on the Clock.

Trouble is I keep the MPG on all the time and clock watch

Reminder to self.............MUST enjoy the car!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I keep the time on my computer. If you watch the MPG all the time, it really holds you back from enjoying the car, IMO.

I also found I watched it too much instead of keeping my eyes on the road!

Turn it off!! :D

Using the vent I have managed to get 56 and a bit litres into the tank, and it cant have been empty as I drove onto the forecourt!

Av 47mpg over 6500 miles...

If i vent and brim and take it careful can get 550-600 miles!!!! only brim when going straight onto a motorway so I dont throw the car around too much!

I'm getting from totally full to warning beep 410 miles.

Done 12500 miles since mid Jan when bought.

reluctant to go too close too empty, dont fancy the consequences. :(

My Fabia 1.4 8v (Xreg) is a bit juicier than I expected - what mpg should I be getting? Is it because petrol is expensive? ha ha, what can be checked/modified to ensure a better fuel economy. I seem to be visiting petrol stations more than I expected or am I being greedy?

Wedge something under the accelerator pedal so it doesn't go down as far ;)

Chris

do less miles or walk :D

Jonno(never walk anywhere)

Whilst were on the subject, how much is a full tank of fuel from empty?

Ive tried going at 20mph everywhere too!! :P

Ive tried going at 20mph everywhere too!! :P

Try changing up to second gear? :P

Rob.

My last tank got me a whooping 379 miles :( Normally i get just over 400 miles tho :)

Anyone know how to stop the MPG reading resetting when you turn the engine off? I thought one told you what mpg you got at any given time, and the other reading would give you the mpg since the last time you reset it. But mine resets everytime i start the engine.
