Another decent fabia vRS look-a-like.

Featured Replies

Looks well done needs lowered though (non VRS suspension maybe), was a Cat C so wonder how extensive the damage was!

looks ok in green.... but its the sdi......

That has been done really quite well (no vRS front badge though!!).

I just don't understand it though, the cost and time that must have took must far outweigh just buying a vRS in the first place.

Insurance isn't THAT much more for the vRS, and I just can't see how this guy could have made any savings!

That was my question, surely that will make the 1.2 "more desirable" and this more of a target to tea-leaves?

Noticed the Cat C.

Is it a new trend to repair damaged fabias upto VRS cosmetic standard?

That's done really quite well - not entirely sure if I could ever warrant the time spent doing it though :D

I also noticed the one new headlight and one old headlight...

Probably a 17 year old who can't get insured on a vrs.

if it has been a CAT C with front end damage. Based on price I have seen and been quoted.

Front Bumper £90

Rear Bumper £90

Spoiler £110

Wheels (from ebay £150)

Seats and trim (ebay £100)

Spray it all up £400 -Cash to a good body shop.

Not that much realy and if it was a CAT C he would of got paided out by insurance can't realy say on that but he probly did the work with the money left from buying it back from the insurance.

A job well done imo :)

Yep got to agree a job well done, first glance it looks like a normal silver vRS.

There is a wee 1.2 in my area on vrs alloys, maybe going to be a vRS replica some time soon.

You know what it does annoy me on this forum how people assume that everyone can afford a VRs, saying they're not that much more expensive. Having looked at the figures and insurance etc. For myself there would be around £2k's difference to buy and insure a Vrs or this 1.2.....

Pesonally i think £2k is alot of money.... dont you?

well maybe age and other circumstances come in to play.

for me, if i was to try and insure a vrs it would cost me an extortionate amount of cash. hence me only having a an mpi, the insurance for me on this is a fair bit too.

so i can see the appeal of having something that looks like a vrs, without the financial penalties of a higher insurance group

But everyone has a vRS on this forum... don't they? :P

Not sure how much of a difference there is between insuring a standard vRS and a modified 1.2

As said above, looks good, just needs a bit of lowering

I saved for nearly 3 years for the car I now have so don't please don't preach about the value of money.

All I'm saying is, with mod costs of around £1k, that makes that 2004 car worth only about £1500!

I'm not against anymore changing a "normal" Fabia into a vRS, if it's done well it looks good (as the car above shows!), just for me personally, I can't see the benefits. Now I'll slope off before I annoy anyone else.

Are you taking into account the extra costs for declaring all the mods on your insurance?

1.2 MPI + VRS trimmings = more likely to be robberated

Granted it won't cover the gap, but it'll make it considerably smaller.

The extra cost of all the VRS bits aren't going to be that much if it has been in a shunt and the original 1.2 bits needed changed anyway.

If the airbags were deployed then a 2nd hand interior wouldn't cost that much.

Still wonder what was damaged in the 1st place though!

Fair point, i wasnt trying to preach, sorry if I came across like that.

I guess its all a matter of preference, as it is with all these kinds of things. If its just the looks your after or are more important to you, then a Vrs look alike, like this, is ideal. However if you really want the extra power and all mod cons, then you probably won't think twice about saving up.

in the situation of this car though, if it had both bumpers damaged then i suppose it would make more sense (to me anyway) to replace them with the nicer bumpers.
