Up here in DUNDEE We have an Octavia 290k immaculate. Dealer was interested in buying But given a nono

I suppose the price was wrong. Perhaps for advertising puposes the price should have been a brand new Octavia :) advertising would have paid for it twelve times over

My 1.4 16v is coming up to 50k. Expect Power steering warning light and Engine Management Light come on after a rain/car wash. I have been advised to replace brake pads (8mm front 9mm back left).

Hi,

I've got 67K on a March 04 1.4 Tdi. It is much better now than ever. Probably 40K + before it was really run in. Gearbox more than engine. Had a Corsa 1.5 Isuzu engine. Bought new. Sold it after 8 years at 255K miles. Still running well, no oil used and economy good. Sold as plastic bits falling apart. I'm intending to keep the Fabia for a few years yet. Looks no problem (crosses fingers!) Will not need new pads before next month's MOT and no leaks or other problems.

Enjoy

V

Think Col G is slightly ahead of you with 51k on his

Chris

Only 51? lol

82k now ;)

still on about 60k but I should start putting some miles on it again in about a week and a bit from now ;)

ticked over 100,000k last night :|

X-Reg 2001 1.4 8v Fabia...

it scraped its MOT yesterday too!

So far it's needed....New discs/pads at the front * 2 and rear drum pads and a water temp sensor for the coolant system.

For the MOT all it needed was the drums cleaning to get the handbrake travel back to something acceptable.

However...what needs doing...

Water pump housing is shattered - parts on order, along with a new pump. Entire system needs draining (filled with mostly water at the moment) and replacing with REAL coolant - Shattered when it was about -10 degrees on starting.

Front bushings have gone - need replacing

Front ARB link rods have both snapped - how this escaped the MOT i am not sure, anyway both on order to be fitted in 2 weeks along with everything else.

Odd screaming noise from the gearbox when in 5th gear. So having it looked at. Going to replace the gearbox oil as a matter of course.

Toping up the power steering fluid as a matter of course.

Rear passenger side door seems to be leaking...found a puddle in the footwell, might be the tube for the rear window squirter though.

Aside from that, yes it sounds a little rough but it's been damn cheap to run. EMS occasionally thrown a sulk and killed the power steering on me/safe mode etc, but it always seems to fix itself when it has done this.

Oh and the paint really is rubbish. Far too many touch up points!

I've got an October '05 VRS.....

Now on 90.000kms (60k miles) - and I have a desk job

I hope it lasts for another good while

It's been mapped for the last 20k miles (180bhp) and all's fine - turbo whistle is louder, but that's a bonus I feel.

Not had a single issue! Though I think the ARB bushes are worn. The 17'' wheels are harder on them than the 16'' I think...

vRS 16 months old, 40K... Get in, does that mean I win for the vRS's? Or should It be does that mean mine will die first!!!

nah, you don't win... my vRS is a 2005, 21 months old and 72k :P

edit: fairly sure neo's is the highest mileage vRS on here .....

Blimey this is an old thread! Never did reach 100k in mine!

Chris

just hit 71k in my 2.0, my dads tdi has just clocked 98k!

Well i have an SDI on a Y reg, just done 90,000 miles and still going strong, very happy at the moment mechanical wise.....

Spevie

I bought my 05 plated elegance TDI estate a fortnight ago with 32K on the clock and have done 1K since then and I'm hoping to easly get to 140K

Not sure what my car has done now!

Engine was around 63k when ripped out, 7360 miles on pd130 when it went in, so that's 33500 miles done on it since then (around 41k now) so that means my whole car is about 96.5k miles to the good. :)

I'm glad your car is still going strong Jason...... if yours doesn't blow up , then I doubt any of ours will! ;)

My car ticked over 64k miles this morning, which got me wondering how many high-mileage Fabias there actually are on this site and what the highest is. There must be someone who's hit 100k ;)

Chris

My Aug 03 1.9 SDI diesel Fabia estate just passed 95k. Generally still going strong - the usual flaws (leaking doors, faulty rear windscreen washer, ) although today the glowcoil warning light has started flashing once the engine is running. Any ideas anyone?

think it's code for something like brake light switch... not sure though...

It's possible that by dealing with weak components before the engine even went in, I have turned my engine into a solid little power base. We'll find out in a month or so. :) Also, I don't abuse it (much) which I think helps.

This thread is an interesting read.

I may consider a fabia TDi for the wife. But it will almost certainly have high mileage (100k +) wondering if it is a good idea or not to go for one.

Mine has 66k !!!!!! onn a 53 plate.

My Y reg 1.9 Tdi Comfort has 118k on it and is still pulling nicely.

Just done 200K today in mine.:D

But it did blot its copybook slightly by requiring the breakdown man to start it before I could set off. :(

My 04 vrs now has 63.5k on it. Thankfully my drive to work has now drastically changed!

My '02 Fabia 1.4 mpi is running sweetly at 64,050 today. Gets driven very briskly as well!
