Fair dos, we'll agree to disagree:thumbup:, but it does sound like a fairly dark tint!

Glad the film (tinted or not) stopped the glass falling in too, I think all car glass should be laminated like the front screens.

it was a very light tint on the front :o just not light enough :D

agrre totally about the tint made me think if i didnt have it my 10month old would have been coverd in glass aswekll as my 6 year old..... it really is a must...

speaking to the autoglass man he said its better to have a tint rather than security film as in an emergeny you can small through tint where as security film is alot hader if not impossible from inside the car :o

what are you talking about the tints on the front where very light and you could see through them very easily!!!!!!!!!!! does that mean you cant wear sunglasses to???

keep silly posts to yourself mate please

You wear sunglasses at night ? Wow !

glad to hear the kiddies were ok mate :)

bummer about the money involved to sort it and waste with the front,

no dif than ****ing it up tho, fun 1 min, gone and 4got the next :D

hay-ho

I had my totally untinted windows tested at a little police/car enthusiast meet-up a couple of years ago and they came back at smack on the legal limit with no tints at all. I thought a light smoke would only take it down to around 50% light transmission. I have limo tints on the back of mine which I guess are around 15% light transmission as they are proper dark.

I would never put front tints on now. Just not worth it.

The amount of people that pull out on me who don't have tints is scary, and that's in the car let alone on the bike.

my tints on the rear are medium tints not limo and are not that dark and i asked the copper to test them out of interest and they came back with

11.7% lol

I saw a green Rover 25 tonight, and that seemed to have graduated greeny/silver tints, darker at the bottom than the top.

I wonder how that would be tested when the area that's looked through when driving is pretty clear?

they test 3 points from the top to the bottom in the centre of the window :o

LOL at this..............surely it depends on how bright it was on that day? A clear red hot sunny day will surely let in more light than an overcast day will it not?

I'm sure that as it measures a percentage rather than absolute value of light allowed through it measures 'before' and 'after' the tinted window - making the brightness of the day itself completely irrelevant.

You're very lucky they didnt sieze the car.

Thames Valley, and our local force usually do - and are clamping down on tints. Just ask the Kev in the dropped Astra that I saw pulled the other day with tints even on the front screen!

My source says the lippy so and so got his car siezed.

they will not sieze the vehicle just for tints mate...( they can't unless below happens) as listed above are the things they can do they will sieze the vehicle if you refuse to remove them at the road side as they will not let you drive off with them on....

they use a light meter wich they put onto the window that has a light in it and then on the other side put the reader on so it doesnt take any actual sun light the tester does it all if that makes sense:confused:

It just seems like something else to "get you" on doesn't it. The brother in law got the court option last summer and it still going on now. You got off lightly and that wasn't a pun.....

Which you didnt, and neither did/could Kev boi ;)

Is there anywhere that will test your tints for you? I ask because I bought my car with the tints already done. The back is totally blacked but the fronts are nowhere near as black but still always look pretty dark. Never been stopped for them, but would be interested to know.

If you look at Jasons post above, his standard front windows with NO tints applied are on the legal linit. I guess any tint whatsoever on the front is enough to take you under the legal limit.

Are tinted windows the reason people drive around with their front fog lights on? Are they trying to compensate for the lower light levels?

Not quite they are trying to compensate for their lower IQ levels, they put their fog lights on so they look brighter than they actually are.

It's so unfair when you get caught breaking the law don't you think

i would get them checked:thumbup:

quote from copper ' most of the cars that have no film are all around the 70% so in reality there isnt a tint on the market that you can use simple as that'

lol cracked me up

Bit ironic this one westallc as this time its the VRS doing the pulling over

The driver of the bmw was in the back of the car for a good 15 mins so I presume he got a long telling off of some sort. After he emerged he pulled his tints off the front.

Never seen the copper use the light but pretty obvious that these won't let 70% light through

You have to be very careful with tints as well from an insurance point of view! You may find a lot of companies won't insure you if you tint your front windows!
