to change a bulb on a furby vrs?

I have bought some vision plus bulbs for my car - but... how do i get my big hands in such a small space?? (no rude comments) the battery (i think) seems to be in the way. Do i take the whole engine out to change a bulb? or am i missing the obvious?? The driver side light fitting is sort of ok, but still tight.

help please guys. :o

It can be done as long as you dont have xenon's. Carefully unclip the top of the cover and let it go backwards to the battery. Then slowly pull up to unclip the bottom. Now It needs to be wiggly out usually towards the centre of the car first, not up! Be very careful not to catch the back of the dipped beam bulb otherwise you will shatter the bulb! It takes time and is very fiddly but just be patient.

And anyone who mentions gearbox cables will be dealt a :slap: :grumpy:

*cough* gearbox cables *cough* :moon:

:slap:  BTW - I love your "pub" definition in your sig - sounds familiar. ;)

You can't beat a bit of Red Dwarf

My drivers side headlight seemed to have a spring on it , I just unclipped the top and it seemed to pivot back , leaving enough room to replace the bulb , without removing the cover. The passenger side headlight I dealt with as per the andy ellis post above , in this case having a small appendage is very helpful :)

Indeed - one case where size is definitely NOT an advantage :D

The weird thing was despite all the cursing & sweating over the l/h side one due to cramped space, it was in the relative acreage of the driver's side that I managed to drop the bulb in the engine bay and had to remove a corner of the tray from underneath to retrieve it. :D So far, the gearbox is still OK.

Did anyone mention gearbox cables yet ? :D

What about gearbox cables? Did I miss something? :D

You may have missed something, but Jason didn't miss his gearbox cables :D

You know my middle finger is starting to get a bit tired... But no... I can just about sum up the strength... nnnnnnnn...

:finger: :grumpy: ;)

It's about time you washed it Jason :naughty:

Hmmmm I think a referance to someone's sig might be in order :D

Poor old Jason.. :(

Mate look at it this way things can only get better from now on :D

I dont know, this is Jason your talking about.

:D

J I don't care what anyone says about you I still think your OK

What would Briskoda be without our Court Jester?

A very dull place indeed.

Just getting back on topic slighty, how easy / difficult is it to change the indicator bulbs on Xenon headlight units?

Have a pair of Silvervision bulbs that I'm planning to but on the vRS (when it arrives!).

Oh, and if you do plan on doing it, make sure you get the right dipped-beam bulbs  hint: it's wrong in the manual

Edit: save yourself some potential cursing and read my lamenting on the subject here :D

Oi! :grumpy: I resemble that remark! I'd like to think I've not fooked anything up on my DIY car work in the last few months... I can do a Seat strut brace fit a lot quicker than 30 minutes now - I've got its removal, ECU swap, and refitting down to about 20 minutes now!

Don't you mean main beam bulbs? Not planning on changing the rather expensive HID bulbs!!

The indicators are fiddly. but fairly easy to do on both the xenon and the halogen headlamps.

 Took me 1 hour 10 minutes a while ago - 10 minutes to change the bulb and an hour to wait for the AA to pop out and discover the cover in my gearbox cables!

(took me 20 minutes last time though with successful retention of cover, and a bit of torx 20 work on the engine cover underneath the car. :D)
