True Fabia VRS MPG

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just thought i would share this with you all. I filled up yesterday with Shell diesel and have done 102 miles of approx 60% motorway and 40% A road driving, my trip computer told me i was averaging 67 mpg for the period, however after refilling and working out my correct fuel consumption i was returning bang on 60 mpg. I was particularly impressed as i was driving steadily but certainly not like a partially sighted Priest! (80 on the motorway and 60 on the A roads, i have no cruise either!)

Anyone else getting similar returns or is this average? As far as MOD's go, i only have a digi tuning box.

Hi Copper

I have only had my Vrs a couple of weeks, but had a 1.4 tdi before and I could not detect any diffrence between the computer and the actual mpg

I was on a trip from Liverpool to home the other night, which is about 40 miles, as I got on the M62 I reset the average trip and after a couple of miles it was reading 95MPG yes 95, and when I got home after varied driving it was reading 70Mpg so if the trip is correct then not bad for a Vrs !

And it is all standard

From what i gather from other post's the computer can be quite inaccurate, some claim up to 20% out. That is why i never trust it and always do the maths when filling up, it is the only true way to get mpg figures. The first month i had my VRS i spent ragging it i was only getting 46 mpg, now i have calmed down i am ver very pleased with the results, esp as i am guessing it is pushing 160 bhp with tuning box.

Distance travelled 3760 miles

Car running time 89 hrs, 52 mins

Average speed 42 mph

Fuel consumption 51.5 mpg

Actual:

Litres used 403.47

Gallons 88.75

fuel consumption 42.36 mpg

Mixed driving through europe.

Def get more mpg out of shell derv than tesco's muck, and the car seems to run smoother.

anyone see any difference in economy / performance when using regular shell diesel or vpower? bp or bp ultimate?

is it true that the 'better' diesel fuel just have improved detergents in them for more efficient burning?

They do cost about 6p a litre or so more than regular diesel too...

Not sure about the V power Derv but just standard shell seems to perform much better than whatever tesco is pumping out!

i use regular shell or bp normally..... shell is 1p a litre less than morrisons supermarket diesel.... whatever that is?!! did not notice any difference on the occasions I used the dearer ones from shell or bp... only the cost!!

I seem to be averaging around the 50 - 55 MPG mark on a full tank!

mine is remapped and on a run can easily see 50 mpg. knockin about town about 42mpg

i can only get 45mpg :( and thats slow going

My first ever tank got me 41mpg compared to a indicated 56mpg by the trip computer

out of my fabia i get around 50 + on a run and about 44-48mpg runnin about depends ow i drive.

ive posted about this recently, im pretty certain that no matter how hard i try i could ever see 60mpg properly

Well i have done 2x 100+ mile runs of mixed driving, as the first post states, and my mpg (working on 4.55 litres to a gallon) is 60/61 mpg driving steadily. Admittedly this was just an experiment as i love putting my foot down! The facts don't lie! But the trip computer does when it tells me 66 mpg, its out on my car by about 6 mpg. I may even drive 100+ miles of the same route sticking to 56 mph as a test, see if i can see 65+ mpg. I know my maths and like i said the figures don't lie. Not bad with only a tuning box fitted.

Yesterday I deove from Perth to past Inverness where I stay on a tenner of fuel (9.6l or something) which is about 128 miles, I was fairly impressed. 60mph on the A9, no faster no slower. Very impressed actually.

My current fuel summary for the VRS:

BP

7680miles

45.51mpg

122.90p/ltr

Saving 0.0000%

BP ULTIMATE

34814miles

46.60mpg

126.90p/ltr

Saving -0.8239%

BP ULTIMATE + Millers

6645miles

47.55mpg

126.92p/ltr

Saving 1.1779%

BP + Millers

25142miles

47.29mpg

122.92p/ltr

Saving 3.8871%

For my driving the cost of BP Ultimate doesn't give enough of an economy benefit. Millers works with both Ultimate and Normal BP but has a greater effect on Normal BP.

The car seems to smoke less runnning with Millers - don't have a drift/performance box so can't comment on the performance benefits
