Fuel price shocker

Featured Replies

Well, we've probably all been noticing the price of fuel (well, unleaded anyway) creeping up over the last month or so but dropped my jaw going past my local Shell on way home last night to see Unleaded being sold at a penny MORE EXPENSIVE than Diesel. When did we last ever see that? No complaints though (except at the 10mpg drop I suffered with the heat in the mid 20s and the aircon on full!). Anyone in the know suggest the reason behind this and why it is just unleaded that is being affected with diesel prices remaining fairly stable (in my area anyway at 100.9 to 102.9 average)?

prices gone up another few p this week yet the price of a barrel has dropped $5 ish this week and the dollar is sitting at about $1.64

Have noticed my mpg go down this week with the heat. cant say ive notice much difference when using air con but 37mpg is what ive averaged with an average foot on pedal which is normally in the 40's

Makes a change for petrol to compensate diesel for a change ...it has been the other way round for quite a while.....so I for one won't be complaining

Was 107.9 for super a couple of days ago which is getting a bit painful again.

I've seen quite a few places now with UL/Derv the same.

The fact is, as the global economy starts to recover, fuel prices will "recover" too. Inevitable.

Been in Italy for three weeks and the prices are high here too 1.07 Euro a litre for Diesel so it is not only the UK.

urm 1.07 euro for a liter vs 1.09 POUNDs per liter.. Hmm that sounds to me like the UK is rather a spectacularly large sum more expensive..

Prices are high, but in the Euro zone, Derv is generally between 20-30% cheaper than in the UK, and that is based on having driven about in UK, Holland, Belgium and France extensively over the past few years for work :)

got vpower unleaded for 109.9p today 2 p cheaper in the A34 than my local station.

Prices in Serbia :

Unleaded ~1.11 Euros

Euro Diesel ~1.06 Euros

three of the large chains down here have decided that derv *will* stay 2p above petrol, which is a shame for them as they seem to be getting less business from dervs.

At todays exchange rate €1.07 = £0.91 therefor GB fuel is 16.5% more expensive

The exchange rate is closer to €1.17 in real terms. €1.07 would be what a bank would give you for your pound, they like to sell it to you for less than it's worth for a profit. Try selling it back to the bank when you get back, that would be about €1.27:mad:

In spain 2 weeks ago DIesel was €0.95 a litre, France was just over a euro at €1.05. Unleaded in both countries is significantly more than diesel.
